OVERVIEW
1. Take a moment to read and understand these instructions before installing your Flowmaster performance system.
NOTE: Please inventory all parts now before continuing and if necessary, report any missing items to our tech line. This will avoid potentially stranding your vehicle until any missing replacement parts arrive.
PREPARE VEHICLE FOR KIT INSTALLATION
2. Raise vehicle up on a hoist or rack to working height. If you don’t have access to a hoist or rack, support vehicle with jack stands.
WARNING:
Avoid serious burns! Allow your vehicle time to cool completely before touching any factory engine components.
To ease preparation and installation of your new kit:
- Apply penetrating lubricant to mounts, bolts and clamps before you remove them.
- Use stands as necessary to support parts as you detach them from your vehicle and again as you install new parts.
3. Support system with stands then loosen ball clamp, disconnect isolator from hanger and remove driver side muffler. Disconnect remaining hangers from isolators.
4. Remove fasteners and disconnect exhaust at front flange connections (x2). Retain (x4 ea.) springs and nuts then disconnect wire hangers. Remove and retain bolts (x4) from mounts then lower system down and set it aside.
5. Remove and retain (x4) bolts that attach first set of factory hanger mounts behind front flange connections.
INSTALL FLOWMASTER EXHAUST SYSTEM
6. Remove nuts Flowmaster clamp, apply anti-seize compound to bolts and re- install nuts.
NOTE: The image in this step is intended for illustrative purposes only and may or may not accurately reflect components included in your kit.
7. Replace mounts using (x2) front frame hangers (6) and (x4) bolts (removed step 5). Then install (x2) rubber hangers (7) onto front frame hangers.
8. Connect left resonator (1) it to factory flange with (x2 ea) screws (9) , spacers (10) and flat washers (11). Insert wire hanger in isolator and tighten fasteners.
NOTE: Repeat step using right resonator (2) on right side of vehicle.
9. Place (x2) clamps (8) onto scavenger assembly (3) then connect it to resonators with logo facing ground. Tighten clamps just enough to allow for adjustment.
10. Place clamp (8) onto right muffler (5) then connect it to scavenger (left side). Insert wire hanger into isolator and tighten clamp just enough to hold parts.
NOTE: Repeat step using left muffler (4) on right side of scavenger assembly.
11. Adjust exhaust components for fi t; maintaining 1/2″ clearance and compensating for suspension, travel and vibration then tighten all clamps.
12. Secure exhaust system by fitting (x8) hanger keepers (12, 13) onto each wire hanger that runs perpendicular to your vehicles axle.
13. Recommended: Secure slip-fit connections with a 1-inch tack weld then spray high-temp paint over each weld to prevent rust and premature corrosion.
Congratulations, the installation of your FLOWMASTER performance exhaust system is now complete!
