COMPONENTS
INSTALLATION
WARNING: This cooktop must be installed by a licensed trade professional.
Space Requirements
- The edges of the cooktop must be a minimum distance of 60mm from a side or rear wall.
- There must be 650mm between the highest point of the cooktop surface (including the burners) and the underside of any horizontal surface directly above it.
- There must be 400mm between the cooktop surfaces, providing that the underside of the horizontal surface is in line with the outer edge of the cooktop. If the underside of the horizontal surface is lower than 400mm, then it must be at least 50mm away from the outer edges of the cooktop.
- Maintain 50mm clearance around the appliance and between the cooktop surface and any combustible materials.

- There must be a gap of at least 25mm and at most 74mm between the underneath of the appliance and any surface that is below it.
- An oven must have forced ventilation to install a cooktop above it.
- Check the dimensions of the oven in its user guide.
- The cutout size must obey the indication.
Installing the Appliance

Remove the pan supports, the burner lid, and the flame spreader carefully turn the appliance upside down and place it on a cushioned mat.

Take care that the ignition devices and flame supervision devices are not damaged in this operation.

Apply the sealing strip provided around the edge of the appliance. Do not leave a gap in the sealing strip or overlap the thickness.
Note:
Do not use a silicon sealant to seal the appliance against the aperture. This will make it difficult to remove the appliance from the aperture in the future, i.e. if it needs to be serviced. -
Place the bracket (A) over the holes that match the size of the screws. There is one set of screw holes in each corner of the cooktop. Slightly tighten a screw (B) through the bracket (A) so that the corner bracket is attached to the cooktop, but so that you can still adjust the position.

Carefully turn the cooktop back over and then gently lower it into the aperture hole that you have cut out.

On the underside of the cooktop, adjust the brackets into a position that is suitable for your worktop. Then fully tighten the screws (B) to secure the cooktop into position.
Gas Connection
- This appliance must be installed and connected per installation regulations in force in the country in which the appliance is to be used.
- This appliance is supplied to run on LPG and natural gas. Conversion for use on LPG and natural gases must only be undertaken by a qualified person.
- Note: Wear protective gloves to fit the cooktop.
- Caution: If adjustment or installation of the elbow is required, only use a torque wrench with a setting of 9±1N.m. Apply the torque to the black nut on the manifold, not to the elbow itself.
Adjusting the Direction of the Elbow
- After loosening the elbow, adjust the elbow interface to the required direction as required and keep the hexagonal head of the elbow motionless with a wrench.
- Use a 9±1N.m torque wrench to tighten the black bolt of the gas inlet pipe assembly. Ensure that the torque of the wrench is within the required range to prevent elbow breakage or damage caused by excessive force.
- After the installation is tightened, check whether the parts are in good condition and test the air tightness to ensure the tightness of the installation.
Warning:
- Danger of leaks. Check the seal if any connection is handled.
- Turn off power for safety and to protect the appliance. Close the middle valve to prevent gas leakage.
- Keep flammable materials away from the appliance. Wear gloves before starting work.
- Allow the appliance to cool down after use to prevent burns from high temperatures.
Required Tools
Replacement of Gas-type Fitting
- Disassemble the gas-type fittings from the main gas tube using a spanner. When disassembling or assembling the gas connection, use two spanners: one to secure the gas connection elbow and the other to tighten the gas hose.
- Tightly lock a replaceable gas-type fitting onto the main gas tube.
WARNING:
Do not use another elbow, it may lead to a gas leak. Do not use seal tape
which is not intended for gas use. It is recommended to use AS4623-certified
Teflon tape.

This installation must conform to the following:

- Refer to AS/NZS 5601.1 for Gas Installations.
- S.A.A. Wiring Code.
- Local Electrical Regulations.
- Any other statutory regulations.
Preparing to Install
- Refer to AS/NZS 5601.1 for piping size details. This built-in cooktop is intended to be inserted into a benchtop cutout.
- Only an officially authorized technician should connect the appliance.
- Before you begin, turn off the gas and electricity supply.
Caution
- A full operational test and a test for possible leakages must be carried out by the fitter after installation.
- Access to the entire length of the connection hose must be possible, and the gas hose must be replaced before the end of its service life (as indicated on the hose).
- Before leaving, check all connections for gas leaks using soap and water.
- Do not use a naked flame to detect leaks. Ignite all burners both individually and concurrently to ensure the correct operation of gas valves, burners, and ignition. Turn the gas taps to the low flame position and observe the stability of the flame for each burner individually and all together. Adhere the duplicate data plate to an accessible location near the hotplate. When satisfied with the hotplate, instruct the user on the correct method of operation. - Flexible Hose: If installed with a hose assembly, it must comply with AS/NZS 1869, 10mm ID, class B or D, no more than 1.2m long, and be installed by AS/NZS 5601.1.
- Ensure that the hose does not contact the hot surfaces of the hotplate, oven, dishwasher, or any other appliance that may be installed underneath or next to the hotplate. The hose should not be subjected to abrasion, kinking, or permanent deformation and should be able to be inspected along its entire length with the cooktop in the installed position. Unions compatible with the hose fittings must be used, and all connections tested for gas leaks. The electrical outlet must be accessible with the appliance installed.
- Warning: Ensure that the hose assembly is restrained from accidental contact with the flue outlet of an under-bench oven.
Gas Connection
- Install by relevant gas standards and/or codes. Connect the elbow fitting to the appliance gas manifold connection and check that the seals between the elbow and manifold connection are in place and in good condition.
- For Natural Gas:
- Connect the natural gas appliance regulator (pictured below) with an integral test point using approved gas thread tape or compound to the elbow fitting.
- Ensure the supply connection point, test point and natural gas regulator adjustment screw are accessible for testing and/or adjustment with the hotplate in the installed position.
- For Universal LPG: Connect the brass test point adaptor (pictured below) using approved gas thread tape or compound to the elbow fitting.
- Where a flexible hose assembly is used, ensure it is approved to AS/NZS 1869, Class B. The hose assembly must be restrained from accidental contact with the flue outlet of an under-bench oven. It must be suitable for connection to a fixed consumer piping outlet located as follows: for hotplates, at a point 800mm to 850mm above the floor and within a region extending 250mm beyond the width of the appliance.
- After connecting to the gas, check for leaks using the soapy solution, never a naked flame.
Electrical Connection
- This appliance must be grounded.
- This appliance is designed to be connected to a 220-240V, 50Hz-60Hz AC electrical outlet.
- The wires in the power cord are colored in accordance with the following code:
- Green/Yellow = Earth
- Blue = Neutral
- Brown = Live
- The wire which is colored green and yellow must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter ‘E’ or by the grounding symbol.

Gas Adjustment
Caution:
- Take precautions on the operations and adjustments to be carried out when converting from one gas to another.
- All work must be carried out by a qualified technician.
- Before you begin, turn off the gas and electricity supply to the appliance.
Change the Injector of the Burners:
- Remove the pan support, burner lid, and flame spreader.
- Unscrew the injector using a 7mm box spanner and replace it with the stipulated injector for a new gas supply.
- Carefully reassemble all components.
- After injectors are replaced, it is advisable to strongly tighten the injector in place.
Adjusting the Minimum Level of the Flame:
- Turn the taps down to the minimum.
- Remove the control knob from the tap and place a small, bladed screwdriver in the center of the adjustment screw.
- The correct adjustment is obtained when the flame has a length of about 3-4 mm. For butane/ propane gas, the adjusting screw must be tightly screwed in.
- Refit the control knob. Make sure that the flame does not go out by quickly turning from maximum flow to minimum flow. If it does, then remove the control knob and make further adjustments to the gas flow, testing it again once the adjustment has been made.
- Repeat this process for each of the taps.
Caution:
- Do not dismantle the tap safe. In the event of a malfunction, change the whole tap.
- Before replacing the burners, ensure the injector is not blocked.
- A full operational test and a test for possible leakages must be carried out after gas conversion, (such as with soapy water or a gas detector).
- After completing conversion, a qualified technician must mark ‘V’ on the right gas category to match with the setting on the rating plate. Remove the previous setting ‘V’ mark.
OPERATION
Warning
- Fats and oil, when heated, can release flammable vapors. Keep flames or heated objects away from fats and oils when you cook with them.
- Very hot oil vapors can cause spontaneous combustion, monitor your food closely during cooking.
Caution
- Do not use cast iron pans, clay or earthenware pots, grill pans, grills, or toaster plates, as the resulting heat build-up may damage the appliance.
- Do not touch the top plate and trivet whilst in use and until cooled.
- As soon as a liquid starts boiling, turn down the flame so that it will barely keep the liquid simmering.
Using the Appliance
The following symbols will appear on the control panel, next to each control
knob.
- The minimum setting is at the end of the anti-clockwise rotation of the control knob.
- All operation positions must be selected between the maximum and minimum positions.
- The symbol on the control panel next to the control knob will indicate which burner it operates.
Flame Failure Safety Device
The appliance is fitted with a flame failure safety device on each burner,
which is designed to stop the flow of gas to the burner head in the event of
the flame going out.
Igniting a Burner
- Press and hold the control knob of the burner you wish to light and turn it anti-clockwise to the maximum position.
- Keep the control knob held down for 15 seconds after the burner ignites. If the burner does not ignite after 15 seconds, stop operating the device, open the compartment door, and wait at least 1 minute before attempting to ignite the burner again.
- After the 15-second interval, to regulate the flame, continue turning the control knob anti-clockwise until the flame reaches the desired level. The operating position should be between the maximum and minimum settings.
- To switch the burner off, turn the control knob fully clockwise to the ‘gas off’ position.
- In case of a power failure, the burners can be lit carefully using a match.

CLEANING & CARE
Caution
- Cleaning must only be performed when the appliance is completely cool.
- The appliance should be disconnected from the electrical outlet before commencing cleaning.
- Clean the appliance regularly, preferably after each use.
- Abrasive cleaners or sharp objects will damage the appliance’s surface. It is recommended to use water and mild detergent to clean the appliance.
Pan Support and Control Knobs
- Remove the pan support.
- Clean the pan support and the control handles with a damp cloth, mild detergent, and warm water. For stubborn soiling, soak beforehand.
- Dry everything with a clean, soft cloth.
Top Plate
- Regularly wipe the top plate using a soft cloth well wrung out in warm water with a small amount of mild detergent.
- Dry the top plate thoroughly after cleaning.
- Remove salty foods or liquids from the cooktop as soon as possible to avoid the risk of corrosion.
- Stainless steel parts of the appliance may become discolored over time due to high temperatures. Clean these parts with a product suitable for stainless steel each time the appliance is used.
Burners
- Remove the burner lids and flame spreaders by pulling them upwards and away from the top plate. Soak them in hot water with a little detergent or washing-up liquid.
- After cleaning, wipe and dry them carefully, ensuring that the flame holes are clean and completely dry.
- Wipe the fixed parts of the burner cup with a damp cloth and dry afterward.
- Gently wipe the ignition device and flame supervision device with a well-wrung-out cloth and then dry with a clean cloth.
- Before placing the burners back on the top plate, make sure the injector is not blocked.
Reassemble the Auxiliary, Semi-rapid, Rapid, and Triple-Crown Burners
Caution:
- Replace parts in the correct order after cleaning.
- Do not mix up the top and bottom.
- The locating pins must fit exactly into the notches.
Reassembly:
- Place the flame spreader (4) onto the burner cup (5) so that the ignition device and the flame supervision device extend through their respective holes in the flame spreader. The flame spreader must click into place correctly.
- Position the burner lid (1, 2, 3) onto the flame spreader (4) so that the retaining pins fit into their respective recesses.
