OPERATION
Before you begin, ensure that your vehicle is factory fitted with CarPlay and that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS (at least iOS 10).
- Connect your iPhone to your vehicle’s USB port using a lightning cable. If your iPhone displays a pop-up asking to allow CarPlay while phone is locked, your vehicle has built-in CarPlay.
- If there is a CarPlay icon in the vehicle’s audio unit menu, your vehicle has built-in CarPlay.
- Alternatively, refer to your vehicle’s user manual or contact your local car dealer for additional support.
Connecting the adapter to your vehicle
Connect the USB cable to the USB-C port on the wireless CarPlay adapter and
connect the other end to the USB port in your car. Ensure your vehicle’s
ignition is turned on so that the adapter can power up. Note: The wireless
CarPlay adapter is supplied with a USB-A to USB-C and a USB-C to USB-C cable.
Depending on the type of USB port in your vehicle, use either the USB-A or
USB-C cable to connect the adapter to your vehicle.
Note: If there are multi-USB ports in your vehicle. The adapter should be
plugged into the USB port that is used for wired Apple CarPlay connection.
Connecting your iPhone to the wireless adapter
- Make sure that both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on in your iPhone’s settings.
- Open the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone and look for the device named “AUTO-xxxx”. Pair your iPhone with this Bluetooth device. Note: You may need to allow a few minutes for wireless adapter to pair with your phone for the first time.
- When prompted, tap “Pair-Allow-Use CarPlay” to connect your iPhone to the wireless adapter.
- Once your iPhone is connected to the adapter, you can start using CarPlay wirelessly on your vehicle’s audio unit display.
Note : Before pairing another phone to the wireless adapter, disable Wi-
Fi & Bluetooth on the currently connected phone. Only one phone at a time can
be connected to the wireless adapter.
Firmware update
If you are experiencing operating difficulties or trouble connecting your
iPhone to the wireless CarPlay adapter, a firmware update may be required.
WARNING: if your wireless CarPlay adapter is functioning correctly, it is
strongly advised not to update the firmware.
- If your iPhone is already connected to the adapter, open the browser on your iPhone and type “192.168.1.101” in the address bar.
- You should then see the option to update the firmware (if a new version is available).
- If your iPhone is not currently connected to the adapter, you need to first connect to the adapter’s Wi-Fi network. To do this, go to your iPhone’s Wi-Fi settings and look for the network named “AUTO-xxxx”. Use the password “88888888” to connect to the network.
- Once you are connected to the adapter’s Wi-Fi network, open your iPhone’s browser and enter “192.168.1.101” in the address bar. You should then see the option to update the firmware if a new version is available.
Note: The blue LED indicator will flash while updating. Wait at least 30 seconds after the indicator has stopped flashing, then disconnect and reconnect the adapter from USB port to complete the updating process.
