Installation Requirements:
Ensure that you have received the following items along with the U16 NVR:

  • USB keyboard + mouse (x1)

First Startup:

  1. Set a new administrative password.
  2. Ensure correct Time Zone configuration.

Installation:

  1. Secure rack brackets to the U16 unit and install them into the server rack.
  2. Turn the Power Switch to the OFF position.
  3. Connect the USB mouse and keyboard to the front panel.
  4. Connect the monitor using HDMI or DVI output ports.
  5. Plug IP cameras into the PoE ports.
  6. Connect Mic and Speaker if using Audio In/Out ports.
  7. Use the Ethernet port labeled WAN to connect to your network.
  8. Plug in the power cable and connect to an Uninterrupted Power Supply.
  9. Turn the Power Switch back to the ON position to power on the NVR.

  • Q: What should I do if I forget my administrative password?
    A: Please contact i3 International support for assistance in password recovery.

  • Q: Can I connect the U16 NVR to a wireless network?
    A: No, the U16 NVR must be connected via the Ethernet port to your network.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

  • When installing your U16, be sure to avoid excessive heat such as direct sunlight or heating appliances, contaminants such as dust and smoke, strong magnetic fields, moisture and humidity, areas with mechanical vibrations, and temperatures below 20°C (68°F) and above 25°C (77°F).
  • U16 Power consumption requirements: 100~ 240VAC.

INSTALLATION

  • Important: For factory warranty, reliability, and longevity of your U16, follow the installation safety precautions and use an Uninterrupted Power Supply.
  • Tip: Install your U16 within 1 meter (3 feet) from the UPS and ensure that the U16 and its cables have sufficient space. The system must be placed on an even surface (shelf or Rackmount).
  1. Use supplied screws to secure provided rack brackets to the U16 unit. Then install the U16 NVR into the server rack.
  2. Turn the Power Switch (F) to the OFF position.
  3. Plug the USB mouse and the USB keyboard into the USB ports on the front panel.
  4. Plug in the HDMI (G) or DVI (A) monitor using video output ports.
  5. Plug IP cameras into the RJ45 PoE ports (D).
  6. Connect Mic and Speaker into Audio In/Out ports (C), if using.
  7. Use the RJ45 Ethernet port labeled WAN (H) to connect U16 to your network.
  8. Plug in the supplied power cable into the AC Power In port (E) and connect the NVR to an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS).
  9. Return the Power Switch (F) to the ON position. The NVR will then power on.

FIRST STARTUP

Your U16 NVR is running on Windows 10 IoT OS and comes pre-installed with the latest version of SRX-Pro software.

As part of the first startup, you will need to:

  • Set a new administrative password.
  • Ensure the Time Zone is configured correctly.

Set New Admin Password
When the NVR first boots up, you will see the Windows Lock Screen

  1. Unlock the NVR with default credentials.
    • Username: i3admin
    • Password: i3admin
  2. Click the PRO icon in the SRX-Pro monitor utility to open SRX-Pro Setup in a web browser.
  3. Set the new administrative password for the i3admin username and click SAVE.
    • Follow suggested password guidelines for a strong password.

CAUTION:
DANGER OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS INCORRECTLY REPLACED. REPLACE ONLY WITH THE SAME OR EQUIVALENT TYPE RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. DISCARD USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS.

  • The unit uses a three-wire ground cable which is equipped with a third pin to ground the unit and prevent electric shock. Do not defeat the purpose of this pin. If your outlet does not support this kind of plug, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet.
  • This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present.
  • Never open the equipment. For safety reasons, the equipment should be opened only by qualified service personnel.
  • The ITE is to be connected only to PoE networks without routing to the outside plant.
  • 16ch PoE ports 10/100 Mbps, 802.3af/at compliance with total 240W max.
  • GPIO Connecting to External Devices, its rated load max. is 24 V, 1.0 A.

Adjust the Time Zone

  • All NVR units sold by i3 international are pre-set to the Eastern Time zone (UTC -5:00). If your NVR is in a different time zone, you must set the correct time zone on the first system start-up.
  • If the NVR is later relocated to a different time zone, this setting must be changed again. All previously recorded data must be formatted after each time zone change. Failure to do so may result in system malfunction.
  • To change your NVR time zone, unlock the NVR first, then Go to the Start menu and type Control Panel. In the Control Panel, click Date and Time > Change time zone…
  • Set your NVR’s Time zone from the drop-down menu and click OK.

ADD VIDEO INPUTS to SRX-PRO v7

Make sure to set the unique IP address to every IP camera/encoder before adding it to SRX-Pro v7. Use i3’s ACT (Annexxus Configuration Tool) utility for i3 cameras and encoders. ACT is pre-installed on your NVR.

  1. Launch the i3 Pro Setup from the Desktop or the SRX-Pro Monitor.i3-INTERNATIONAL-U16-16-Channel-Media-Control-Centre-with-16-PoE-Fig- \(6\)

  2. Enter your administrator Username and Password and click LOGIN.

  3. Click the Add tile.

  4. Click DISCOVER to find i3 and third-party cameras and encoders on your network.i3-INTERNATIONAL-U16-16-Channel-Media-Control-Centre-with-16-PoE-Fig- \(8\)

  5. Enter correct login credentials for all devices with the “Login failed” symbol (if any). Select all “Login failed” devices that share login credentials and click .

  6. Enter the device’s Username and Password and click
    A green check mark indicates that the camera/encoder is ready to be added.

  7. Select all devices with a green check mark and click .

Your cameras/encoders have now been added and are set to record based on the Sensor + Motion schedule.

RESOLUTION/FRAME RATE/CHANNEL ORDER

To make setting changes to added cameras, click the List tile.

  1. Select one or cameras and click
  2. In the Edit camera(s) window, adjust Resolution and FPS settings for the Main and Sub streams, PTZ (Enable/Disable), and/or Audio and click SAVE.i3-INTERNATIONAL-U16-16-Channel-Media-Control-Centre-with-16-PoE-Fig- \(16\)
  3. To rearrange the channel sequence, click on the ellipsis icon and click Channel Index. Drag-and-drop camera thumbnail to swap two channels, or use the drop-down next to each thumbnail to pick the preferred channel position.   4. Click SAVE to save the new order.

LIVE VIDEO

Use the Video Pilot Client application (pre-installed on your NVR) to view Live video and to Search/Backup recorded video.

  1. Launch the i3 Video Pilot Client from the Desktop or the SRX-Pro Monitor.i3-INTERNATIONAL-U16-16-Channel-Media-Control-Centre-with-16-PoE-Fig- \(19\)
  2. Mouse over the localhost tile and click Connect.
  3. Login using SRX-Pro administrative or user credentials
    • Tip: To view Live video instantly using a Guest account, go to SRX-Pro Setup > Server > User management > User groups and edit the Idle group. In Permissions, expand the Live – Search – Backup drop-down and enable Live mode Live for all or select cameras.

If using a Guest account to view a Live localhost video, you must log in before being able to Search or back up the video. To protect the security of your system, log out when done.

  • Double-click on any channel to bring it into full-screen mode.
  • Hover over any channel to see the on-screen control panel.
  • Click on the screen division icon to change the current display mode.
  • Use the Search bar to quickly locate the camera by camera name, model, or IP.
