Intended use

PPB 30 ventilation units with heat recovery are used for air ventilation and air extraction of apartments, offices and similar rooms. They are suitable for new buildings as well as renovation work. The units are designed for 24h operation. The housing unit’s ventilation system should be configured in accordance with DIN 1946-6.
PPB 30 are balanced ventilation units, which are the ideal choice for use in exhaust air rooms (bathroom, WC or kitchen with windows) and ventilate and extract air from the rooms at the same time. Exhaust air mode is started automatically depending on the setting or can be started manually at the touch of a button.
PPB 30 are stand-alone units or can be used in groups with other PPB 30/PP 45 units. PPB 30 units have degree of protection IP X4. The protection zone must be determined depending on the unit variant used.
PPB 30 are installed in exterior walls (wall thickness 320-790 mm, installation position with slight incline towards the exterior wall) and are connected to a permanently wired electrical installation.
The PPB models “O” for Object, “K” for Comfort and the Radio Version “RC” are available. The units are operated using an RLS…/ DS 45 RC room air control suitable for the type.

Application example

PPB 30 O Operation with RLS 45 O or RLS 45 K control. PPB 30 K with RLS 45 K control. PPB 30 RC units are operated using a DS 45 RC radio switch (alternatively with RLS 45 K + radio extension module PP 45 EO).
Not possible / not permissible: The operation of PPB 30 K units in combination with an RLS 45 O control; A combination of PPB 30 K with exhaust air units (e.g. ER…/ECA…); A combination of PPB 30 O and PP 45 O/K units at the fan interface (Fan1/Fan2).

Combined with PP 45 single-room ventilation units for supply air rooms, a decentralised ventilation system for flats can also be produced for redevelopment projects.
The PP 45 units ensure an increased supply of air and therefore balanced ventilation, even if exhaust air mode is sometimes used.
Example: Combination of PPB 30 K + PP 45 units

RLS 45 K3 operating modes (heat recovery, cross-ventilation, automatic mode), 5 ventilation levels, time-limited intermittent ventilation, time-limited switch-off, safety shutdown, ModBus, configuration with PC (USB). PP 45 EO radio module can be added to integrate radio sensors.
RLS 45 O3 operating modes (heat recovery, cross-ventilation, automatic mode), 5 ventilation levels, configuration using service menu.
A PPB 30 external cover with integrated condensate drain is required for installation with a wall sleeve.
The fan/heat exchanger unit is designed as a duct mounting and can be removed for repair and cleaning purposes.
PPB 30ventilation units are only intended for domestic use and similar purposes. No other or additional use is intended.
5 Application example
Ventilation solution for a 3-room flat with PPB 30 K ventilation units for the bathroom and PP 45 ventilation units for living spaces
The PPB 30 in the bathroom ventilates and extracts air from the room, at the same time, in balanced mode. A fan in the unit extracts air and first transfers the exhaust air heat to the heat storage tank. Another fan in the unit pumps the supply air into the room across the heat storage tank, which gives off this heat. Every 60 seconds, the air direction changes, thereby permitting a ventilation mode with constant heat recovery.
Intensive ventilation can be activated via a humidity sensor or manually with a button if the humidity is high and/or if the air quality is inadequate.
Pure exhaust air mode is also possible and here the two fans pump out humidity (no heat recovery).

Basic settings on the room air control are undertaken in service mode. If connected to RLS 45 K, the commissioning software may also be used.
Switch on ventilation system as follows:
1. Ensure that all ventilation units and system components are connected to the room air controls.
2. Remove warning sign from fuse box and switch on mains fuse. The ventilation units start up in ventilation level 2.
3. Run function test.
4. Set the desired parameter values in Service mode or using the commissioning software.
Basic settings can be made directly on the RLS 45 O or RLS 45 K room air control unit. To do this, select Service mode and set the desired parameter value. Additional information can be found in the online commissioning instructions (download at www.maico-ventilatoren.com). Here you can also download the commissioning software for the RLS 45 K control. This provides you with a wide range of setting parameters for individual system adjustments.
