Scope of delivery
Shutter/external grille, sealing strip, this installation, and operating instructions.
Intended use
AP… airstream-operated shutters and SG… fixed external grille are used as terminating elements of ventilation ducts (centralized/decentralized air exhaust system) within closed residential units, for example, in residential buildings, hotels, etc. With AP shutters, the lamellae open automatically due to the airflow. AP shutters and SG external grilles also serve as weather protection. AP shutters additionally serve as a cold air barrier.
Operation is only permitted:
- in combination with the wall sleeve WH…;
- with a vertical installation position;
- with fixed installation, surface-mounted on an external wall with sufficient load-bearing capacity;
- when installed with suitable mounting material (to be provided by the customer);
- in ventilation shafts for enclosed residential units.
The AP shutters/SG external grilles are only intended for domestic use and
similar purposes.
No other or additional use is intended.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Installation of the AP shutter/SG external grille only by installers
specialized in ventilation technology. Pre-requirements: Specialist training
and knowledge of technical standards, EU Directives, and EU Ordinances.
Observe applicable accident prevention requirements.
Observe occupational health and safety measures: protective clothing in good
repair etc.
Impermissible operation
AP shutters/SG external grilles also must not be used under any circumstances in the following situations:
- in potentially explosive atmospheres;
- in case of combustion/fire hazard due to flammable materials, liquids or gases. Do not place any flammable materials, liquids or gases near the shutter, which may ignite in the event of heat or sparks and catch fire.
General safety instructions
- Risks for those who are not trained specialists, children, and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of knowledge. AP shutters/SG external grilles may only be installed, commissioned, cleaned, and maintained by people who can safely recognize and avoid the risks associated with this work.
- Risk of injury when working at heights. Use appropriate climbing aids (ladders). Stability should be ensured, if necessary the ladders steadied by a 2nd person. Ensure that you are standing securely and cannot lose your balance and that there is no one under the shutter/the external grille.
- Modifications and alterations to the AP shutter/SG external grille are not permitted and release the manufacturer from any guarantee and liability.
- Exercise caution when handling packaging materials. Observe applicable safety and accident prevention requirements. Store packaging material out of the reach of children (risk of suffocation due to swallowing-

- Permitted ambient temperature: -20 to +60°C -20 to +60°C
- Storage: Store AP shutters/SG external grille only in a dry place.

Installation
Before the installation, install the wall sleeve, which matches the AP shutter/the SG external grille (WH 100, WH 120 or WH 150), in the outer wall.
- Affix the supplied sealing strip all the way around the housing connections of the shutter/external grille.
- Loosen the housing at the 4 locking tabs and remove it from the holder.
- Mark the 4 drilling positions of the mounting holes on the external wall, and drill and insert dowels.
- Push the AP shutters/SG external grilles with the flange into the wall sleeve and screw them to the wall with 4 screws. Ensure the correct position of the sealing strip. Note the installation position: with Maico lettering on the bottom right.
- If necessary, insert the optional fly screen FG into the shutter/external grille.
- Press the housing unit onto the receptacle so that it audibly engages in the 4 locking tabs
- Seal the AP shutters/the SG external grille to the wall in a manner that is permanently elastic and weatherproof. Suitable sealing material (silicon) is to be provided by the customer.
- Function test AP variant: Check the ease of movement of the slats.
Cleaning
If necessary, clean the AP shutter/SG external grille with a dry cloth.
Frequency depends on ambient conditions and anticipated impairments.
Notice for the AP…: Do not open, close, or bend the lamellae too much
(lamellae breakage).
NOTICE: Clean the AP shutter/SG external grille only with water and not
in the dishwasher. Do not use aggressive, harmful, or easily flammable
cleaning agents.
Removal
Dismantling may only be undertaken by a trained specialist.
Disposal
Once they are no longer needed, packaging materials and used products should
be disposed of in compliance with local regulations.
Do not dispose of old products in the normal household waste.
