PedSafety RRFB Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon
Product Description
Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB)
Initial Setup
✓ Use Ped Connex to set the Guardian station to RRFB mode.
✓ Use only 5 wires from the flasher cabinet to the Guardian station:
- 2 field terminals connect to PPB input inside of the flasher cabinet (12-18 VAC or VDC).
- 12 Volt and GND terminals need continuous 12VDC from the flasher cabinet.
- Both the walk and don’t walk terminals need a 12VDC signal to activate the walk message (see options A and B).
WARNING: To use Guardian in RRFB Mode, use only 1 terminal: walk or don’t walk, depending on the voltage of the flasher controller. Do not use both terminals in RRFB mode.
Option A: Using the Walk Terminal to Activate Audible Messages
✓ If the voltage from the flasher cabinet changes from 0 Volts to 12VDC when the lights are flashing, use the Walk (W) terminal on the Guardian station to obtain an audible message for WALK indication.
Option B: Using the Don’t Walk Terminal to Activate Audible Messages
✓ If the voltage from the flasher cabinet constantly switches from 0 Volts to 12VDC when the lights are flashing, use the Don’t Walk (DW) terminal on the Guardian station to obtain an audible message for WALK indication.
For specific information about the flasher controller and its functionality, contact the RRFB manufacturer directly or consult the schematics.
