IMPORTANT:
Carefully read these instructions before use, and follow all the instructions and safety instructions to avoid personal injury and/or material damage. Save these instructions for future reference. These instructions should be enclosed with the machine if you sell it, or pass it on. The manufacturer cannot accept liability for any damage resulting from failure to follow these instructions.

• The appliance is not intended to be used by persons (children or adults) with any form of functional disorders, or by persons who do not have sufficient experience or knowledge on how to use it, unless they have received instructions concerning the use of the appliance by someone who is responsible for their safety. Keep children under supervision to make sure they do not play with the product.
• Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in the risk of electric shock, fire, and/or serious personal injury.
• Save these instructions and safety instructions for future reference.
• The term “power tool” in all the warnings below refers to your mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered (cordless) power tool.

Safety in the workplace

• Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Dark and cluttered work areas increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
• Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
• Electrical appliances produce sparks, which can ignite dust and fumes.
• Keep children and onlookers at a safe distance when using power tools.
• You can easily lose control of the tool if you are distracted.

Electrical safety

• The plug must fit properly into the power outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use an adapter with earthed power tools.
• Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators.
• There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
• Do not expose the tool to rain or moisture.
• There is an increased risk of electric shock if water enters a power tool.
• Never use the power cord to carry or pull the tool, or to pull out the plug from the mains socket. Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts.
• Damaged or tangled power cords increase the risk of electric shock.
• If using the tool outdoors, only use an extension cord approved for outdoor use.
• Cords intended for outdoor use reduce the risk of electric shock.
• If it is absolutely necessary to use power tools in damp conditions, use a mains connection protected by an RDC. Using an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock,.

Personal  safety

• Stay alert. Pay attention to what you are doing, and use your common sense when working with the tool. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
• A moment of inattention when using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
• Wear safety glasses and appropriate personal safety equipment.
• Depending on the type of power tool and how it is used, safety equipment such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, gloves, safety helmets and ear protection reduce the risk of personal injury.
• Avoid accidental starting. Check that the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in the power cord and/or the battery, or lifting/carrying the tool.
• Carrying a power tool with your finger on the switch, or connecting a tool to the mains supply when the switch is in the ON position, increases the risk of accidents and  injuries,
• Remove Allen keys/spanners etc. before starting the tool.
• Spanners or the like that are left in a rotating part of the tool can cause personal injury.
• Avoid unbalanced and awkward positions when working. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance.
• This will ensure you have better control over the tool in unexpected situations.
• Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts.
• Loose-fitting clothing, jewelry and long hair can get caught in moving parts.
• If dust extraction and dust collection equipment is available, this should be connected and used correctly.
• The use of such devices can reduce the risk of dust-related problems.

Use

• Do not overload the tool. Use tools only for their intended purpose.
• The tool does the job better and is safer when used at the rate for which it was designed.
• Do not use the tool if it cannot be switched on and off with the power switch.
• Power tools that cannot be controlled with the power switch are dangerous and must be repaired,
• Unplug the power cord and/or remove the battery before making any adjust- ments, changing accessories or putting the power tool away.
• This prevents accidental starting.
• Store power tools out of the reach of children when not in use, Never allow children or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and this instruc- tions, to use the tool.
• Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons,
• Keep tools properly maintained, Check that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam and that no parts are incorrectly fitted or damaged. Check for other factors that could affect functionality. If the power tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again.
• Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools,
• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
• Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
• Use power tools, accessories, and bits etc. in accordance with these instruct- tions, with due consideration to the actual working conditions and the work that is to be done.
• Use the power tool only for its intended purpose.

Special safety instructions

• Always check that the appliance is switched off before inserting the batteries.
• If the battery is inserted in the electrical appliance when the power switch is in the ON position, there is a risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
• Do not attempt to charge the battery with any other charger than the one supplied. A charger intended for one type of battery can result in a fire risk if used with another type of battery.
• Only use the type of battery supplied with the appliance. The use of other batteries can result in personal injury and/or fire.
• When the battery is not in use keep it away from other metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, and other small metal objects that can short circuit the terminals. Short-circuiting discharges large amounts of energy and can cause a fire and/or serious personal injury.
• Failure to handle the battery carefully can cause acid to leak from the battery. Avoid contact with battery acid. If you get battery acid on your skin, rinse immediately in plenty of fresh water and wash thoroughly with soap and water. If you get battery fluid in your eyes, rinse your eyes with clean water for at least 10 minutes and then seek medical attention immediately. Battery acid can cause skin irritation and/or burns.

Service
The machine must only be serviced by qualified personnel using identical spare parts. This will ensure that the machine remains safe to use.
Special safety instructions

• The battery is uncharged on delivery. Charge the battery before using it for the first time.
• In order for the battery to attain full capacity, it must be charged and discharged several times.
• Batteries self-discharge with time. Maintenance charges regularly if the appliance is not going to be used for some time.
• Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate.
• Store the charger and appliance out of the reach of children.
• Wear suitable clothing. Wear safety glasses.
• Never attempt to open the battery in any circumstances. Avoid contact with battery fluid. If you get battery acid on your skin, rinse immediately in plenty of fresh water and wash thoroughly with soap and water. If you get battery fluid in your eyes, rinse your eyes with clean water for at least 10 minutes and then seek medical attention immediately. Battery acid can be neutralized with a weak acid, such as lemon juice or vinegar.
• Keep the charger and power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, and moving parts. A damaged power cord must be replaced by an authorized service center, or qualified person, to ensure safe use.
• When the battery is not in use keep it away from other metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, and other small metal objects that can short circuit the terminals.
• Do not attempt to charge the battery with any other charger than the one supplied.
• Do not use the charger if it has received a heavy knock, been dropped, or otherwise damaged.
• Allow an approved service center to check and/or repair the charger when necessary.
• Do not attempt to charge other types of batteries with this charger— risk of explosion, personal injury and/or material damage.
• Do not allow the battery to become completely discharged. Over-discharging will shorten the battery’s useful life.
• Charge the battery immediately when the appliance becomes weaker.
• The appliance and battery become hot when charging. This is completely normal. Allow the battery to cool before charging.
• Do not expose the appliance to rain or moisture.
• Do not use the machine in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
• Do not burn batteries — risk of explosion.
• The charger is only intended for indoor use. Do not expose the charger to moisture. Charging temperature 10-40 °C.
• Do not expose the charger to temperatures over 50 °C.

Special safety instructions

• Carefully inspect the area where the machine is to be used and remove any stones, wires, bones or other foreign objects. If you encounter foreign objects while working, turn off the appliance (release the switch) and remove tie items.

• Keep the appliance away from hands, feet, and other body parts while working.
  Only start the appliance at a safe distance from all parts of the body.

• Do not use the machine when other persons, especially children, or pets are in the vicinity.

• Only use the machine in daylight, or in good artificial lighting.

• IMPORTANT: The blades continue to rotate after the appliance has been switched off.

• When not in use, store the machine so that the blades cannot cause personal injury.

• Switch off the appliance and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before attempting to remove any material that has fastened, or before cleaning around the blade with an appropriate implement. Do not use your hands – the risk of serious personal injury (cuts).

• Keep the ventilation openings on the machine clean.

• Keep the charger power cord away from the blades. Never use the appliance with the charger power cord connected.

• The charger should be connected to the main supply with a residual current device with a maximum tripping current of 30 mA.

• Never attempt to clear the blades when the appliance is running. Do not try to hold the material to be trimmed with your hands or your body, Switch off the appliance and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before attempting to remove any material that has fastened, or before cleaning around the blade.

• A moment of inattention when using electrical appliances can result in serious personal injury,

• Switch off the appliance and wait until all moving parts have stopped completely before transporting. Hold and carry the appliance by the handles. The accompanying blade guard must always be fitted during transport and/or storage. Handle the appliance with care to avoid contact with the blade — the risk of cut injuries, ¢ Hold and carry  the appliance correctly, Use both hands on appliances that have two handles,

• Familiarise yourself with the controls on the appliance and how to use them.

• There may be local regulations for the minimum age of persons allowed to use the machine,

• The user is responsible for any accidents or risks to other persons or property.

• Do not use the appliance unless all the safety devices and guards are correctly installed and working.

• Keep your hands and feet away from moving parts.

• Only use spare parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer.

• Switch off the appliance. — Before leaving the machine unattended. — Before checking, cleaning or doing any other work on the machine. — If the appliance starts vibrating abnormally.

• Hold the appliance by the insulated grips when working in areas where it may come into contact with concealed electrical cables. Contact with a live cable will cause the metal parts on the appliance to also become live — risk of electric shock.

• Check before trimming that there are no hidden objects in the hedge, for example, fence wire.

TECHNICAL DATA

Always wear ear protection!
The declared vibration value, which has been measured by a standardized test method, can be used to compare different tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure.
WARNING: The actual vibration level when using power tools may differ from the specified maxi-mum value, depending on how the tool is used. It is, therefore, necessary to determine which safety precautions are required to protect the user, based on an estimate of exposure in actual operating conditions (taking into account all stages of the work cycle, e.g. the time when the tool is switched off and when it is idling, in addition to the start- up time).

Intended use
The appliance is designed to trim the edges of lawns and areas of lawn in private gardens.
Garden tools such as this are not suited for use in public places, parks, and sports facilities, within the agriculture or forestry sector. The machine must only be used as it is intended to be used and in accordance with these instructions.
The machine must only be used for the purpose for which it is intended. All other applications are considered to be unsuitable. The manufacturer is not liable for any personal injury or damage to equipment resulting from incorrect use. The full responsibility for any such personal injury or material damage rests on the user.
NOTE: The appliance is not intended for professional or industrial use. Professional or industrial use invalidates the warranty.

Charging the battery

1. Connect the battery charger (fig. 1).
2. Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate. Plug the charger into an appropriate mains socket. The red status lamp (pos. 1, fig. 1)  comes on to indicate that the charger is connected to power.
3. The battery is charging. The battery is discharged the charging time is 3-5 hours. The battery and charger get hot when charging. This is completely normal.
4. The red status lamp (pos. 1, fig. 1} goes out whenthe  battery is fully charged.

NOTE:

• If the battery is not charged, check that the mains outlet is supplied with voltage.
• Charge the battery immediately when the appliance becomes weaker.
• Do not allow the battery to become completely discharged. Over-discharging will shorten the battery’s useful life.

Use
Remove foreign objects from the area where the appliance is to be used. The start inhibitor prevents accidental starting. Start the trimmer by pressing in the start inhibitor while pressing in the power switch. Release the power switch to turn off the trimmer.
Trimming the lawn
Move the trimmer over the ground. Best results are achieved when the grass is dry. Charge the battery immediately the trimming result is inferior.

Trimming hedges
The appliance can be used to trim small hedges and shrubbery.

1. Angle the appliance slightly in relation to the hedge.
2. Start by trimming the sides upwards from the bottom.
3. Now trim the top of the hedge or the shrubbery.

NOTE: Watch out for foreign objects that could damage the blades.
The suitable season for trimming

• Hedges that shed their leaves usually should be trimmed in June and October.
• Hedges that do not shed their leaves should be trimmed in April and August.

Changing accessories
NOTE: Risk of personal injury.

1. To release the mounted accessory, press the release lever (pos. A, fig. 2) and loosen the accessory as illustrated.
2. When the accessory has been removed, the drive mechanism’s gear is visible (fig. 3). Ensure that no contaminants enter the drive mechanism.
3. Fit in the reverse order.

Fitting the hedge shears

NOTE: Wear safety gloves when handling the shears.

1. Loosen the grass shears in the direction of the arrow (fig. 4). Fit the hedge shears in the direction of the arrow (fig. 5). A clicking sound can be heard when the hedge shears are locked in position.
2. To fit the hedge shears, insert a tab (fig. 6) in the slot in the casing.
3. Press in the pin (fig. 3) against the oval slot (fig. 6) in the hedge shears.
4. Press the cover plate (fig. 7) upwards until it clicks into place. The cover plate must be at- attached to the trimmer before starting.

Fitting the grass shears

1. Remove the hedge shears and fit the grass shears. A clicking sound can be heard when the grass shears are locked in position.
2. To fit the grass shears, insert a tab (fig. 8) in the slot in the casing. Align the pin against the oval slot (fig. 8) in the grass shears.
3. Press the cover plate upwards until it clicks into place. The cover plate must be attached to the trimmer before starting.

MAINTENANCE

• Keep safety devices, ventilation openings, and engine housing free from dust and dirt.
  Wipe clean with a cloth or blow clean using compressed air at low pressure.

• We recommend cleaning the machine immediately every time it has been used.

• Clean the machine at regular intervals with a cloth moistened with water and a mild detergent.
  Do not use strong detergents or solvents, they can damage the plastic parts of the machine.
  Make sure that water does not penetrate into the machine.

• Grease the blades regularly with a few drops of oil, e.g. sewing machine oil. Never apply grease to the blades.

• Clear away grass clippings and the like that have been caught between the blades.

• Keep the blades sharp for the best result. Grind off any damage to the edges. Clean and inspect the appliance before and after use.

•  The appliance does not contain any parts that can be repaired by the user.
  IMPORTANT:
  Never clean the machine using water or a high-pressure washer. Store the appliance in a dry, frost-free place out of the reach of children.
