SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING!

• Read all warnings, safety instructions and other instructions carefully before use. Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in the risk of electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.
• The term power tool in the warnings below refers to your mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered (cordless) power tool.

WORKAREA

• Keep the work area clean and well lit. Dark and cluttered work areas increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
• Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gas or dust. Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes.
• Keep children and onlookers at a safe distance when using power tools.You can easily lose control of the tool if you are distracted.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

• The plug on the power tool must match the power point. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use an adapter with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
• Do not expose power tools to rain or moisture. There is a greater risk of electric shock if water gets into a power tool.
•  Be careful with the power cord. Never use the power cord to carry or pull the tool, or to pull out the plug from the power point. Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or tangled power cords increase the risk of electric shock.
• Only use an extension cord approved for outdoor use. Cords intended for outdoor use reduce the risk of electric shock.
• If it is absolutely necessary to use power tools in damp conditions, use a power point protected by a residual current device RDC. Using an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

PERSONAL SAFETY

• Stay alert. Pay attention to what you are doing, and use your common sense when working with power tools. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention when using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
• Use personal safety equipment.
• Wear safety glasses.
• Depending on the type of tool and how it is used, safety equipment such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmets and ear protection reduce the risk of personal injury.
• Avoid accidental starting. Check that the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in the power cord and/or the battery, or lifting/carrying the tool. Carrying a power tool with your finger on the switch, or connecting  a tool to the mains supply when the switch is in the ON position, increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
• Remove Allen keys/spanners etc. before starting the tool.
• Spanners or the like that are left in a rotating part of the tool can cause personal injury.
• Do not overreach. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance. This will ensure you have better control over the tool in unexpected situations.
• Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothing, jewellery and long hair can get caught in moving parts
• If dust extraction and dust collection equipment is available, this should be connected and used correctly. The use of such equipment can reduce the risk of dust-related problems.

USE AND CARE

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the planned work. The tool does the job better and safer when used at the rate for which it was designed.
• Do not use the tool if it cannot be switched on and off with the power switch. Power tools that cannot be controlled with the power switch are dangerous and must be repaired.
• Pull out the plug and/or remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or putting the power tool away. These safety precautions reduce the risk of accidently starting the power tool.
• Store power tools out of the reach of children when not in use. Never allow children, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
• Keep the power tool properly maintained. Check that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam, and that no parts are incorrectly fitted or damaged. Check for other factors that could affect functionality. If the power  tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
• Use the power tool, accessories and bits etc., in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the actual working conditions and the work that is to be done. It can be dangerous to use power tools for purposes other than those they are intended to be used for.

SERVICE
The power tool must only be serviced by qualified personnel using identical spare parts. This will ensure that the power tool remains safe to use.

RISK OF KICKBACK

• Hold the tool firmly with both hands and hold your arms in a position that prevents kickback. Support handles should always be used to keep the tool under control. Kickback can cause the tool to jerk backwards, but the user can control this by taking the appropriate measures.
• Keep your hands away from rotating parts – risk of personal injury from kickback.
• Stand to one side of the tool without any part of the body in line with the rotation of the accessory- risk of personal injury from kickback.
• Be extra careful on curves, corners and edges etc. There is more risk of the tool jamming or getting stuck, which can ca use kickback.
• Never use toothed saw blades or accessories with saw chains. These tools are difficult to keep under control and often cause kickback.

SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR GRINDING AND CUTTING

• Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer, together with the guards intended for the specific model.
• The guards on the tool will not work properly with the wrong type of discs.
• The guards must be correctly fitted on the tool and positioned so that only the smallest part of the disc is exposed to the user.
• Only use discs for their intended purpose. Never attempt to use cutting discs for grinding. Cutting discs can break if exposed to side loads.
• Only use undamaged disc flange nuts of the correct size and shape for the specific disc. The disc flange nut supports the disc and reduces the risk of the disc shattering. Disc flange nuts for cutting discs can differ from flange nuts for grinding discs.
• Never use worn discs from larger power tools. Discs intended for larger tools might not withstand the higher speed of the smaller tool -there is a risk that the disc will shatter.

SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR SANDING
Use the right size of sandpaper. Only use sandpaper recommended by the manufacturer. If the sandpaper sticks outside the pad it can catch and break up, or cause kickback or personal injury.

SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR POLISHING
Do not allow any part of the polishing bonnet or its strings to rotate freely. Tuck in or cut off extruding strings. Loose strings etc. can fasten in the workpiece or your fingers – risk of personal injury.

SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR STEEL BRUSHING

• Always wear safety glasses. Wires can come loose from the brush, even during normal use. Do not press the tool too hard when working. Wires from the brush can easily puncture your skin, or thin clothes.
• The brush must not touch any of the guards during the work. The diameter of the brush can increase when it is rotating.

REDUCTION OF NOISE AND VIBRATIONS

• To reduce noise and vibrations when in use, limit the time the product is in use,
• use low-power/vibration and noise modes and use suitable safety equipment. Plan the work so that exposure to heavy vibrations is spread over a longer period.
• Take the following precautions to minimise the risks of exposure to vibrations and/or noise:
  • Only use the tool in accordance with these instructions. Check that the tool is in good condition.
  • Use accessories in good condition, and which are suitable for the purpose.
  • Keep a firm grip on the handles/grips.
  • Maintain and lubricate the tool in accordance with these instructions.

Always wear ear protection!
The declared vibration value, which has been measured by a standardized test method, can be used to compare different tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The measurement values have been determined in accordance with EN 60745-2-3.

WARNING!
The actual vibration level when using power tools may differ from the specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used. It is therefore necessary to determine which safety precautions are required to protect the user, based on an estimate of exposure in actual operating conditions (taking into account all stages of the work cycle, e.g. the time when the tool is switched off and when it is idling, in addition to the start-up time).

• Sandpaper is supplied with the following grit sizes; 60, 80, 120, 150, 780 and 240.

HOW TO USE

WARNING!

• Do not plug in the plug until the product is fully assembled – risk of electric shock, death and/or serious injury.
• Switch off the product, pull out the plug, and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before adjusting, performing maintenance and/or replacing accessories.

ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT

1. Pull out the telescopic handle to a suitable length for the work in question and lock in place. The length of the telescopic handle can be adjusted variably between 1.3-1.9 m.
2. Align the rear handle with the main handle and turn the lock sleeve all the way.
3. Align the holes in the sandpaper with the holes in the sanding pad and place the sandpaper on the sanding pad. Press gently so that the sandpaper fastens to the sanding pad.
4. Undo the sleeve by the dust extraction port, but do not pull it all the way out. Insert the dust extraction hose into the dust extraction port and press in place. The connection locks with friction.
5. Connect a suitable dust extraction device, such as a vacuum cleaner, to the dust extraction adapter.

CONTROLS

Switch
Switch (6) with soft start function, which causes the product to start evenly and smoothly. FIG. 3

Speed control
The speed can be set variably between 600 and 1600 rpm using the speed control (5). Select the appropriate speed for the material to be sanded. FIG. 4

HOW TO USE

1. Check the surface that is to be sanded and remove any nails, screws and other similar items.
2. Hold the product with one hand on the main handle and the other hand on the grip surface. If you are using the extension, hold the product with one hand on the main handle and the other hand on the rear handle.
3. Start the product by pushing the switch
   • forwards and allow the product to reach full speed before it comes into contact with the work surface.
4. Turn the speed adjustment knob (5) to the right for a higher speed or to the left for a lower speed.
5. Hold the sanding pad (2) as parallel with the work surface as possible, and make sure that the brush-type skirt comes into contact with the surface first.
6. Press the sanding head against the work surface, so that the sandpaper comes into contact with the surface, and move the product back and forth slowly and smoothly.

Tip:

• Never lift the sanding head from the work surface before switching off.
• Only press sufficiently firmly that the sandpaper is in contact with the work surface. Firmer pressure will not result in better sanding, rather it will impair the product’s performance and may cause uneven results.
• Keep the product moving at all times. If the product is held still in the same place, this can result in holes or grooves being formed in the surface.

REPLACING THE SANDING PAD

1. Undo the hex screw (5 mm) on the sanding pad.
2. Remove the sanding pad.
3. Install a new sanding pad and tighten the screw. FIG. S

NOTE:

• Only use sanding pads recommended by the manufacturer.
• For the best results, operate the product at a lower speed for a few minutes after replacing the sanding pad, to allow the sanding pad to attach better. During this time, white foam emerges from the sanding head. This is completely normal.

DUST EXTRACTION
Internal or external dust extraction may be used. The internal dust extraction system has eight holes and gathers up fine dust particles during sanding.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING!
Switch off the product, pull out the plug, and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before adjusting, performing maintenance and/or replacing accessories.

• Keep the product clean. Clean the product each time after use and before putting into storage.
• Proper maintenance and regular cleaning are essential for the product to work satisfactorily.
• Check the product, power cord and plug for damage before use. Do not use the product if it is damaged.
• Clean with a dry cloth. Use a brush for hard-to-reach areas.
• Clean the product’s ventilation openings after it has been used.
• The product may be cleaned with compressed air (max. 3 bar).
• Check for any damaged parts. Replace damaged or worn parts or take the product to an authorised service centre to be checked and repaired before using the product.
• Check the product and the accessories for damage before and after use. Replace any damaged parts with new ones with the same technical data in accordance with these instructions.
• The product does not contain any parts that can be repaired by the user. Take the product to an authorised service centre, or other qualified personnel, to be checked and repaired.
• A damaged power cord or plug must be replaced by an authorised service centre or other qualified personnel to ensure safe use.
• Have the carbon brushes checked and if necessary replaced by an authorised service centre or other qualified personnel if there is a lot of sparking. The carbon brushes must always be replaced in pairs.
