  • Do not attempt to add or remove logs until the piston has stopped in its home position.
  • Keep your hands away from moving parts.
  • Keep your hands at a safe distance from the saw blade and from cracks that open up in the wood. Such cracks can suddenly close and crush or amputate your hands.
  • Do not attempt to release a log that has got stuck with your hands.
  • Never leave the product unattended when it is running.
  • Do not leave the product before all moving parts have completely stopped.
  • Pull out the plug when the product is not in use. Always pull out the plug before adjusting, replacing parts, cleaning or maintaining.
  • Look after the product. Keep the product clean for better and safer work.
  • Store the product out of the reach of children and unauthorized persons.

REMAINING RISKS

  • The use of the product can involve the following risks:
    • Risk as a result of contact with moving parts.
    • Risks as a result of the blade breaking or shattering.
  • These risks are more pronounced in the following instances:
    • When in the work area.
    • In the vicinity of rotating machine parts.
  • Even if the product is used in accordance with the instructions it is impossible to rule out all risk factors. The following risks remain:
    • Risk of hearing impairment.
    • Risk of accidents caused by the uncovered part of the saw blade.
    • Risk of personal injury when replacing the saw blade
    • Pinch risk when opening the guard.
  • Check the brake function before use. Start the product and run the motor at idling speed, then switch it off and check how long it takes to come to a standstill.
  • Only use saw blades that conform with EN 847-1 :1997.
  • If the product is used indoors it must be connected to an external chip and sawdust extraction system.
  • The product must be connected to a mains supply with a residual current device.

ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE

  • Check before use that the inner and outer blade guards, right and left moving table guards, as well as the blade and the inner and outer blade flanges are in good condition.
  • Move the log cradle forward and check that the moving guards on the right and left-hand sides come into contact with the outer and inner blade guards.
  • Switch off the product and pull out the plug after use. Clean the product and store it in a well-ventilated area.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The person using the product must:

  • have sufficient knowledge about and be familiar with using, adjusting and operating the product.
  • have sufficient knowledge about factors that affect exposure to noise, e.g:
    • blades designed for quiet operation.
    • maintenance status of the blade and product.
  • have sufficient knowledge of factors that affect exposure to dust, e.g:
    • type of material
    • extraction (point extraction at source)
    • correct adjustment of hoods, shields, and funnels
    • function and operation of dust extraction equipment that must be started before working (if available).
    • The following general conditions must also be satisfied.
  • The product must stand on a horizontal surface when in use and the surrounding area must also be horizontal, well maintained and free from loose objects, wood chips and scrap.
  • There must be sufficient lighting, either in the form of general lighting or spotlighting of the actual workplace.
  • Raw material and cut material should be stacked close to the operator’s normal working position.
  • The operator must also follow the instructions below:
    • Never work with hands near the saw blade. When a combined crosscut saw/bench circular saw is used as a bench circular saw, a feeding block or feeding pin must be used without exception to move the workpiece towards the blade.
  • Always wear suitable personal safety equipment. Depending on the working conditions, this can include:
    • ear protection to avoid noise injury
    • respiratory protection to reduce the risk of dust inhalation
    • safety gloves when saw blades have to be handled (as far as possible, saw blades must be transported and handled with blade holders).
  • Do not crosscut (saw across the grain) logs when the product is in bench saw position.
  • Switch off the product and pull out the plug before leaving the product unsupervised.
  • Report any faults on the product, including faults in guards and the saw blade, immediately.
  • Employ safe procedures for cleaning and maintenance. Regularly remove wood chips and sawdust to reduce the risk of fire.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for using, adjusting and repairing saw blades.
  • Select a suitable splitting knife on the basis of the actual blade thickness when using a combined crosscut saw/bench circular saw in the bench saw position.
  • Never exceed the maximum permitted speed specified on the saw blade.
  • Only use correctly sharpened and set saw blades.
  • Check that any spacers and spindle rings are suitable for the purpose and conform to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Never remove sawn-off pieces or other parts of the workpiece from the sawing area while the product is in operation or the saw blade is rotating, without using a feeding pin.
  • Make sure that all guards and other safety devices are in place, are working correctly and are in good condition.

NOTE:
Such interference does not normally occur if the impedance in the mains supply Zmax is less than 0.317 ohm. Contact your electricity supplier for more information.

RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY INHALATION OF DUST
Dust from some wood species (such as oak, beech and ash) can be carcinogenic when inhaled.

  • Only work outdoors.
  • Limit the spread of dust as far as possible.
  • Do not allow dust to accumulate in the work area. Do not blow off the dust.

NOTE:
The product is designed for a dust extractor with an air flow speed of at least 20 m/s for dry sawdust and 28 m/s for wet sawdust (moisture content at least 18%).

RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY AS A RESULT OF DEFECTIVE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

  • Wear appropriate clothing that provides protection from falling logs.

WARNING!
The actual vibration and noise level when using tools may differ from the specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used and the material. It is, therefore, necessary to determine which safety precautions are required to protect the user, based on an estimate of exposure in actual operating conditions (taking into account all stages of the work cycle, e.g. the time when the tool is switched off and when it is idling, in addition to the start- up time).
