Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.

5.1 General

  •  This product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It may become a dangerous plaything for children.
  • Should you have any questions or concerns after reading this document, please contact our technical support or a professional technician.

5.2 Handling

  • Please handle the product carefully. Impact, shocks or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.

5.3 Operating environment

  • Do not expose the product to any mechanical stress.
  • Protect the product from extreme temperatures, strong jolts, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
  • Protect the product from high humidity and moisture.
  • Protect the product from direct sunlight.

5.4 Operation

  • There is a risk of permanent hearing damage due to non-compliance with the specified noise limits.
  • You should carefully select the earmuffs and ensure they fit perfectly. Sound insulation is reduced if they do not fit properly.
  • Make sure you check the earmuffs and sealing rings thoroughly before use. Never use the earmuffs if they or the sealing rings show signs of damage, such as cracks or similar.
  • Ensure that the headband is not bent or deformed, as this can impair the fit and reduce sound attenuation or insulation.
  • The fitting of hygiene covers to the cushions may affect the acoustic performance of the earmuffs.
  • For optimal protection, ear cushions should fit firmly around the head and form a good seal around the ears.
  • Anything that interferes with the seal, such as long hair (pull back as far as possible), thick or poorly fitting eyeglass temples, pencils, or caps, will reduce protection.
  • Put the earmuffs on before entering a noisy environment and leave them on until you are no longer exposed to noise.

Using the earmuffs

  • These earmuffs conform to the size requirements stipulated in EN-352-1:2020 and are suitable for the majority of users.
Protection against noise cannot be guaranteed if you do not observe the insulation specifications listed in the “Technical data” section.

Putting on the earmuffs

TOOLCRAFT TO-8706357 Kid Earmuffs - earmuffs

  • Pull the two ear cups apart and fit the ear cushions over both ears.
  • The cushions should completely cover your ears and fit firmly around your head.
  • Ensure that the headband sits on top of your head. If necessary, adjust the ear cups by moving them in or out of their holders to fit your head.
  • Ensure that the seal is sufficient to provide effective noise reduction.

Cleaning and maintenance

Important:

  • If the following recommendations are not followed, both attenuation (insulation) and function of the earmuffs may be impaired.
  • Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these may damage the housing or cause the product to malfunction.
  • Do not immerse the product in water.
  • Clean the outer surfaces of the earmuffs, headrest and ear cups regularly with mild soap and lukewarm water or alcohol swabs. Leave to dry in the air.
  • Do not store the earmuffs at temperatures above 55 °C, such as behind a windshield or window.
  • The earmuffs must be regularly inspected for cracked or worn parts and replaced as needed.
  • Store the earmuffs in a clean and dry plastic container (bag or box) when you are not using them.

10.2 Attenuation data
Insulation specifications at different frequencies
Tested in accordance with EN 352-1:2020:

Frequency (Hz)| 125| 250| 500| 1000| 2000| 4000| 8000
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---
Average insulation value (dB)| 14.6| 15.5| 22.9| 30.7| 34.4| 41.5| 41
Standard deviation (dB)| 3.2| 2.1| 1.8| 2.3| 2.8| 3.0| 2.7
Assumed insulation value (dB)| 11.4| 13.3| 21.1| 28.4| 31.5| 38.5| 38.3
SNR = 27 dB| H = 33 dB| M = 24 dB| L = 17 dB
SNR m = 38.3| H m = 35.0| M m = 25.4| L m = 18.7
SNR s = 1.3| H s = 1.9| M s = 1.2| L s = 1.8

Example

  1. The ambient noise level as measured at the ear is 92 dBA.
  2. The SNR is 24 decibels (dB).
  3. The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to 68 dBA.

The level of noise entering a person’s ear when the earmuffs are worn as instructed is closely approximated by the difference between the A-weighted ambient noise level and the SNR.
