WARNING!
Before you begin. Read these instructions completely and carefully.

  • Risk of Electric Shock. Disconnect power before servicing or installing controller.
  • Risk of injury or damage. Controller will fall if not installed properly. Follow installation instructions, NEC and local codes and best trade knowledge.

  • Risk of injury or damage. Mount only to a mechanically sound surface; All fixtures must be connected to a grounded, three-wire supply; All electrical connections must be capped with UL listed wire connectors rated 600V or higher; If supply wires are located within three inches of the LED driver, use wire rated for at least 90°C; Consult qualified electrician before installing.

Installation

Step 1: Unpack & Inspect
Carefully remove sensor from packaging. Inspect for any defects in the housing, lens and conductors before proceeding. Confirm the product includes a gasket and locknut. Confirm product ordered matches the product received.
Note: part number FMS-DLC001 is equivalent to BT-FMS-A

Step 2: Mount Sensor

  • Use a ½ inch knockout on a clean, smooth vertical surface
  • Optional for luminaires having less than ½ inch overhang: Remove spacer and break away the threaded chase nipple extension if desired (see cut sheet for detail).
  • Install gasket between sensor body (or spacer) and outside wall of fixture enclosure
  • Install locknut and tighten securely

Step 3: Power Wiring

  • Connect Black wire from sensor to incoming Line lead
  • Connect White wire from sensor to the incoming Neutral lead, and to the white lead(s) of all LED drivers
  • Connect Red wire from sensor to the black leads of all LED drivers
  • Use suitably sized wire connectors rated 600VAC or higher, and conductors rated 60°C or higher

Application Device

  • Once installed, device will provide basic operation (see Fig. 5 above).
  • Obtain and thoroughly read BT-FMS-A Installation Manual if alternative operation is needed. (see Fig. 6 above)

** This wire/terminal may be gray on older products or in retrofit applications. The 2020 edition of the NEC prohibits field-connected control wires from being gray to avoid confusion with gray 277V neutral wires. Effective January 1, 2022, 0-10V signal wires will use purple and pink insulation.

Step 4: Dimming Wires

  • Connect Pink** wire from sensor to the gray or Dim(-) connections of all LED drivers
  • Connect the Violet wire from sensor to the violet or Dim(+) connections of all LED drivers
  • Use suitably sized wire connectors rated 600VAC or higher, and conductors rated 60°C or higher
  • Close wiring compartment per manufacturer’s instructions

Default Operation – No Programming Needed For programming options see below

  • Standalone fixture control
  • Bi-Level control:
  • Occupancy: Maximum intensity available from luminaire
  • Vacancy: Minimum available intensity
  • Timeout Delay: 20 minutes
  • Daylighting control: Disabled

  • Group control (with neighboring luminaires)
  • Max & Min levels for bi-level control
  • On/Off control (as opposed to bi-level)
  • Timeout delay 15 sec to 90 min
  • Daylight enable/disable and daylight setpoint
