STRICTLY OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES IN ORDER TO USE THE PRODUCT PROPERLY AND AVOID POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ACCIDENTS.
PROCEDURE
NOTE Not all hardware will be used in this application
ATTENTION! Use the supplied anti-seize for any chrome-to-chrome
fasteners; this will prevent galling and make future removal of fasteners
easier.
- STEP 1 Read and understand all the steps in the instructions before starting the installation. Park the motorcycle on a hard, level surface; turn off the ignition and allow the engine to cool.
INSTALL CLAMP AND SWING ARM ASSEMBLY ON THE ENGINE GUARD
- STEP 1 Locate the left mount; the mounts are side specific so be sure you have the correct mount before attempting the installation. Visually inspect the angle where the swing arm will be attached. The mount should be angled slightly back, toward the rider, NOT forward.
- STEP 2 Remove the four 1/4-20 fasteners securing the mount together and separate the upper and lower halves.
- STEP 3 Insert the adjustable stop into the lower half of the mount. Install the mount and swing arm onto the engine guard. Loosely secure the mount with the four 1/4-20 fasteners. Do not tighten at this time. See PIC 1. Secure the swingarm to the cogged mount using the 1/2-13 x 1-1/4 Button Socket Cap Screw and wave washer.
- STEP 4 Determine the desired angle of the foot peg using the positioning holes in the swing arm. Insert two roll pins into the swing arm using the desired positioning holes. See PIC 2.
- STEP 5 Insert the 1/2-13 x 1” HHCS and internal tooth lock washer through the swing arm and thread it into the clevis. The roll pins will be pressed into place as you tighten the clevis.
- STEP 6 As shown in PIC 1, adjust the two set screws below the adjustable stop to fine-tune the foot peg angle.
- STEP 7 Tighten the four fasteners on the bottom of the clamp; push down slightly on the foot peg while tightening the fasteners to take up any slack in the engine guard.
- STEP 8 Tighten the 1/2-13 fastener. Repeat for the opposite side.
ADJUST THE POSITION OF THE SWINGARM AND FOOTPEG
STEP 9 ADJUST FOR LONGER OR SHORTER INSEAM LENGTHS:
- Loosen the 1/2-13 Button Head Fastener securing the swing arm to the mount. Turn the fastener out about four turns then pull the swing arm out of the interlocking notches.
- Rotate the swing arm to the desired position then push the arm back into the interlocking notches; be sure the swing arm is either level with the engine guard or above the engine guard. NEVER position the swing arm below the engine guard! See FIG 1.
- Retighten the 1/2-13 Button Head Fastener.
WARNING! AVOID POTENTIAL SERIOUS OR FATAL INJURIES!
Always position the swing arm either level with, or above, the engine guard.
Never position the swing arm below the engine guard or loss of cornering
clearance will result potentially causing loss of control during cornering. It
is the installer’s responsibility to ensure there is sufficient cornering
clearance before riding.
STEP 10 ADJUST THE CLEVIS ANGLE:
- Loosen the 1/2-13 Hex Head Fastener securing the swing arm to the clevis. Turn the fastener out three full turns then pull outward on the clevis and peg.
- Rotate the clevis and peg assembly to the desired angle then push the assembly back into the swing arm and re-tighten the fasteners.
- STEP 11 ADJUST THE PEG ANGLE: Using a small flat-blade screwdriver, pop off the Hot Spot at the end of the footpeg. Loosen the peg adjustment fastener and rotate the peg to the desired position. Re-tighten the fastener; re-install the Hot Spot.
- STEP 12 Insert the black rubber thread plug into the end of the swing arm to cover the bolt securing the peg and clevis to the swing arm. PIC.3 shows the complete assembly.
