NOTICE THIS PART WILL REQUIRE DRILLING INTO OEM PARTS. BE SURE TO MEASURE TWICE, DRILL ONCE, AND ALWAYS DOUBLE-CHECK THE REFERENCE MARKS MADE BEFORE DRILLING.
STEP 1 Read and understand all steps in the instructions before starting the installation. Park the motorcycle on a hard, level surface and turn off the ignition. Let the motorcycle cool.
STEP 2 Remove the main fuse.
STEP 3 Refer to PIC 2. Apply masking tape to each side of the headlight casing where it will be drilled through. Be sure to cover the whole area, not just the drill point.
STEP 4 Refer to PIC 3. Locate the Left (clutch side) and Right (brake side) Vent Accents. Working on one side at time, align the accent in the air duct area next to the headlight. Use the mounting holes on the accents to mark two (2) drill hole points on the headlight casing. Make sure when marking the drill holes the accent doesn’t move at all! Set the accents aside for now. DO NOT DRILL YET!KURYAKYN 2947 Tracer Headlight Vent Accents for Road
GlideSTEP 5 Refer to PIC 4. Unfasten and remove the windshield. Unfasten the outer fairing (from the driver’s side: two lower screws and one screw under the speaker cover on each side), disconnect the turn signal wires located near the top of the outer fairing, and remove the outer fairing.
Note: Refer to the motorcycle’s service manual for additional assistance. STEP 6 Refer to PIC 5. Locate provided Run Turn Wire Adapters.
Connect an adapter to each turn signal wire harness on the motorcycle.
STEP 7 Locate the Left (clutch side) and Right (brake side) Vent Accents. Connect the left accent to a left wiring adapter and the right accent to a right wiring adapter.
STEP 8 Reinstall the main fuse and test accents for proper run/turn operations. Disconnect accents after operational testing. Set them aside for the time being. Remove the main fuse.
NOTICE MEASURE TWICE – DRILL ONCE. DOUBLE-CHECK ALL REFERENCE MARKS MADE ON THE HEADLIGHT CASING BEFORE DRILLING. KURYAKYN WILL NOT PROVIDE WARRANTY COVERAGE ON PRODUCTS OR COMPONENTS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THIS INSTALLATION.
STEP 9 Refer to PIC 6. Drill a small pilot hole on the mark made for the mounting holes of the vent accents. Drill all the way through the headlight case, but be careful not to drill too far beyond the casing, to prevent damaging the actual lights. Increase the drill hole to a 5/16-inch hole.
STEP 10 Locate provided well nuts. Test fit that the well nut fits into the drilled hole. If the well nut does not fit in the drilled hole, make small adjustments to it. Test again. Repeat the process until the well nut fits into the drilled hole. DO NOT OVER-DRILL AND MAKE THE HOLE TOO LARGE!
STEP 11 Refer to PIC 7. Remove tape from the headlight casing. Thoroughly clean the surface. Place well nuts in drilled holes.
STEP 12 Refer to PIC 8. Locate provided four (4) screws. Loosely secure the vent accents to the well nuts. Connect the wires of the accents to their corresponding wire adapters. Connect the OEM turn signals to the adapters.KURYAKYN 2947 Tracer Headlight Vent Accents for Road Glide - fig
3STEP 13 Refer to PIC 8 (on page 2). Locate provided cable ties, cable mounts and cord keepers. Secure all wires in a safe place. Be sure to secure the wires so they won’t pinch, pull, or be damaged.
Note: Refer to PIC 9 and 10. Above the top corners of the headlight, there is a plastic tab sticking out. The accent wires come out just below this tab. When routing the wire to under the fairing area, be sure the wire is placed under and around the tab, not over it.
STEP 14 Unfasten the accents from the well nuts, but do not disconnect the wiring. Let the accents carefully hang by their connected cables.
STEP 15 Refer to PIC 11 and 12. Locate the outer fairing and two (2) OEM upper fairing screws (under speaker cover screws) that were removed in Step 5. Align the outer fairing with the inner fairing, and route the new accents through the opening. Loosely secure the outer fairing to the inner fairing
using a speaker screw on each side.
STEP 16 Refer to PIC 13. With the outer fairing in place, align the vent accents with the air ducts. Secure the vent accents to the well nuts. Fully tighten all hardware.
STEP 17 Connect the OEM turn signals, on the inner fairing, to the adapters. Secure all wires in a safe place. Be sure to secure the wires so they won’t pinch, pull, or be damaged. Fully reinstall the outer fairing and windshield, using the hardware and parts removed in Step 5.
