INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

ADJUSTABLE TOUR-PAK® RELOCATOR FOR TOURING

8731 CHROME OR 8789 SATIN BLACK

ENSURE THAT THE FOLLOWING PARTS HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE KIT

  • 1 Tour-Pak®® Relocator Assembly
  • 1 Relocator Pad
  • 4 1/4”-20 X 1” Hex Head Cap Screws
  • 4 1/4”-20 X Nylon Insert Locknuts
  • 4 1/4” Flat Washers
  • 2 10-24 X 3/4” Button Head Cap Screws

YOU WILL ALSO NEED

Hex wrench set, soft clean blanket, torx driver set, combination wrench set, socket set, ratchet, in-lbs (NM) torque wrench

IF A STEP IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS IS NOT WITHIN YOUR CAPABILITIES OR YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CORRECT TOOLS, HAVE YOUR DEALER PERFORM THE PROCEDURE. IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF THIS PRODUCT COULD RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. ACCIDENTAL VEHICLE START-UP COULD CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY, REMOVE THE MAIN FUSE BEFORE PROCEEDING.

STEP 1: Read and understand all steps in the instructions before starting the installation. Park the motorcycle on a hard, level surface and turn off the ignition. Let the motorcycle cool. Remove the main fuse.
STEP 2: Prepare a sturdy work surface within arm’s reach of the Tour- Pak®. Cover the surface with a soft blanket.

STEP 3: Place the Relocator Assembly upside down on the work surface; remove the Screw and Nut as shown in PIC 2; save them for later.

STEP 4: Remove the Screw and Lock washer as shown in PIC 3; save them for later.

NOTICE: AVOID DAMAGE TO THE MOTORCYCLE. PROTECT PAINTED SURFACES WITH A SOFT CLOTH OR BLANKET.

STEP 5: Refer to PIC 4 and 5. Press the cam-lock-lever inward; rotate the locking lever outward; repeat for the other three to unlock the Relocator Base.

STEP 6: Slide the Relocator Base off of the Tour-Pak® Extrusion as shown in PIC 6; set the Base and Extrusion aside for now.

STEP 7: Remove the seat.

  • Remove the two Tour-Pak® electrical connectors from their anchors.
  • Disconnect all of the connectors between the main harness and the Tour-Pak®.
  • Remove the contents of the Tour-Pak®; remove the Tour- Pak® liner; close and secure the lid.

Note: Refer to PIC 7 and 8. The Relocator Base attaches to the motorcycle. The Tour-Pak® Extrusion attaches to the bottom of the Tour-Pak®.

STEP 8: Remove the four (4) existing flange nuts and flat washers from beneath the Tour-Pak®; they secure the Tour-Pak® to the support; save the nuts and washers for later.

STEP 9: Refer to PIC 9. Carefully remove the Tour-Pak®; set it upside down on the work surface.

STEP 10: Refer to PIC 9. Align the Extrusion over the four threaded studs on the Tour-Pak® as shown; secure the Extrusion to the Tour-Pak® with the four (4) existing nuts and flat washers. Torque the nuts to 60-72 in-lbs (6.8-8.1 Nm).

STEP 11: Refer to PIC 10. Align the Relocator Base over the four holes in the support on the bike. Insert the four (4) included Screws through the Base and support; secure the screws with the included Washers and Locknuts.

STEP 12: Slide the Tour-Pak®/Extrusion assembly onto the Base.

warning: FAILURE TO INSTALL THE TRAVEL LIMITING SCREW AND RETAINING NUT AND BOLT COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF YOUR MOTORCYCLE, WHICH MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

STEP 13: Refer to PIC 11. Reinstall the 3/8”-16 x 1” button head socket screw and 3/8” split lock washer that was removed in Step 4.

STEP 14: Refer to PIC 11. Locate and install the 10-24 socket head cap screw and 10-24 nut that was removed in Step 3.

STEP 15:  Rotate the four locking levers inward until they are captured by the cam-lock levers. The Tour-Pak® is now secured in place.

STEP 16: Reconnect the connectors. Do not connect them to their anchors.

STEP 17: Open the lid; remove the two existing screws and acorn nuts from the Tour-Pak® Pad; save the nuts for later; discard the pad and screws.

STEP 18: Refer to PIC 12. Secure the included Relocator Pad to the Tour- Pak® with the two (2) included 10-24 Screws and existing acorn nuts. Secure the wiring with the hook and loop straps.

STEP 19: Reinstall the seat. Reinstall the Tour-Pak® liner; replace any of the removed contents; close and secure the lid.

STEP 20: Disengage the locking levers; adjust the Tour-Pak® as desired; engage the locking levers.

STEP 21: Reinstall the main fuse; ensure that the installation of the Relocator does not interfere with the operation of the motorcycle before riding.

notice: IT IS THE INSTALLER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT ALL OF THE FASTENERS (INCLUDING PRE-ASSEMBLED) ARE TIGHTENED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE. KURYAKYN WILL NOT PROVIDE WARRANTY COVERAGE ON PRODUCTS OR COMPONENTS LOST DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION OR LACK OF MAINTENANCE. PERIODIC INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE ARE REQUIRED ON ALL FASTENERS.

WARRANTY

Kuryakyn warrants that any Kuryakyn products sold hereunder shall be free of defects in materials & workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase by the consumer excepting the following provisions:

  1. Kuryakyn shall have no obligation in the event the customer is unable to provide a receipt showing the date the customer purchased the product(s).
  2. The product must be properly installed, maintained & operated under normal conditions.
  3. Kuryakyn shall not be liable for any consequential & incidental damages, including labor & paint, resulting from failure of a Kuryakyn product, failure to deliver, delay in delivery, delivery in nonconforming condition, or for any breach of contract or duty between Kuryakyn & a customer.
  4. Kuryakyn products are often intended for use in specific applications. Kuryakyn makes no warranty if a Kuryakyn product is used in applications other than intended.
  5. Kuryakyn electrical products are warranted for one (1) year from the date of purchase by the consumer. L.E.D.’s contained in components of Kuryakyn products will be warranted for defects in materials & workmanship for 3 years from the date of purchase whereas all other components shall be warranted for one (1) year.
  6. All warranty claims must be directed to the place of purchase. Merchandise sold through internet auction sites or any other unauthorized reseller shall not carry a Kuryakyn warranty. If unsure, please contact the place of purchase to verify they are an authorized Kuryakyn reseller.

RETURN POLICY

Merchandise determined to be defective may be returned up to one year from the date of purchase. Returns must be processed through original seller. Returned merchandise for any other reason other than warranty claims must be in like new condition & subject to a 20% restocking fee. All returns are subject to inspection for determination of full or partial credit. Any returned part that shows evidence of being used or installed contrary to manufacturer’s instructions, &/or subjected to improper handling, packaging or return shipping by the customer, will not be eligible for exchange, refund or warranty consideration. All returned electrical items will be inspected & tested. If an electrical item is deemed functional, no credit will be issued & item will be returned. All sales are final on discontinued or closeout merchandise.
