Product Usage Instructions
- Ensure that all the parts mentioned below are included in the kit:
- 1 Brake Lever
- 1 Extended Clevis
- 2 Cotter Pins
- Gather the following tools: Metric hex wrench and bit set, ft-lbs (Nm) torque wrench, pliers, blue loctite.
- Park the motorcycle on a hard, level surface and turn off theignition. Allow the motorcycle to cool.
- Refer to PIC 2 and 3. Unfasten the rear brake lever return spring and remove the mounting bolts from the right main step bracket. Remove the right step bracket.
- Refer to PIC 4. Remove the stop switch spring.
- Refer to PIC 5. Remove the existing pin D joint and cotter pin located on the backside of the brake lever.
- Unfasten the brake pivot shaft and remove the existing brake lever and flat washer.
- If using OEM footpeg, proceed to step 7. If using floorboards or something other than OEM footpeg, remove the existing clevis and install the provided Extended Clevis.
- Refer to PIC 8. Locate the provided brake lever and identify the different holes on the rear and front side of the lever.
- Refer to PIC 9. Apply a small amount of blue loctite to the threaded area of the OEM brake pivot shaft. Insert the pivot shaft through the mounting hole on the front side of the brake lever and place the flat washer onto the threads of the pivot shaft.

- 1 Brake Lever
- 1 Extended Clevis
- 2 Cotter Pin
YOU WILL ALSO NEED

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1 Read and understand all steps in the instructions before starting the installation. Park the motorcycle on a hard, level surface and turn off the ignition. Let motorcycle cool.

STEP 2 Refer to PIC 2 and 3. . Unfasten the rear brake lever return spring, attaching the brake lever to the right main step bracket. Unfasten the mounting bolts from the right main step bracket. Remove the right step bracket. Set all aside, they will be reused.
Note: Pay attention to how items are assembled and in what order they are removed. This may come in handy later. -
STEP 3 Refer to PIC 4. Remove the stop switch spring. Set it aside, it will be reused.

STEP 4 Refer to PIC 5. Remove existing pin D joint and cotter pin, located on the backside of the brake lever. Set the joint pin aside, it will be reused.

STEP 5 Unfasten the brake pivot shaft and remove the existing brake lever and flat washer. Set the brake pivot shaft and flat washer aside, they will be reused.

STEP 6 IF USING OEM FOOTPEG: Continue to step 7.
IF USING FLOORBOARDS OR SOMETHING OTHER THAN OEM FOOTPEG:
Remove existing clevis and install provided Extended Clevis. -
STEP 7 Refer to PIC 8. Locate provided brake lever. Pay attention to the different holes on the rear of the brake lever.
The small hole on the back side is for the stop switch spring (smaller spring). Of the two holes on the front side of the lever, the larger one is for the pin D joint, and the smaller on is for the rear brake lever return spring (larger spring). -
STEP 8 Refer to PIC 9. Located the OEM brake pivot shaft and flat washer that were removed in Step 5. Apply a small amount of blue loctite to the threads of the pivot shaft. BE SURE LOCTITE IS ONLY THE THREADED AREA. Insert the pivot shaft through mounting hole on the front side of the brake lever. Place the flat washer onto the threads of the pivot shaft.

STEP 9 Align and loosely fasten the brake lever to the motorcycle.

STEP 10 Refer to PIC 10. Locate OEM pin D joint and one (1) provided cotter pin. Of the two small holes at the rear end of the brake lever, align the larger hole with the clevis. On the backside of the clevis insert the pin D joint through the aligned holes, and secure it in place with cotter pin on the front side.

STEP 11 Locate the stop switch spring that was removed in Step 3. Attach the spring to the back side hole on the brake lever and to the switch assembly.

STEP 1 2 Fully tighten the brake pivot shaft.

STEP 13 Refer to PIC 11 or 12. Locate the right main step bracket, mounting hardware, and the rear brake lever return spring. Align and loosely fasten the right main step bracket to the motorcycle. Attach the spring to the brake lever and to the backside of the main step bracket. Determine if the position of the brake lever needs to be adjusted. If adjustment is needed, unfasten the spring, remove the mount, and make small adjustments to push rod joint nut until the brake lever is set in your desired position.
Apply a small amount of loctite to each of the mounting bolts for the right main step. Reinstall the right main step. Fully tighten mounting hardware. TORQUE VALUE FOR MAIN STEP BRACKET BOLTS: 20 ft-lbs (27 Nm)
NOTICE: IT IS THE INSTALLER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT ALL OF THE FASTENERS (INCLUDING PRE-ASSEMBLED) ARE TIGHTENED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE. KURYAKYN WILL NOT PROVIDE WARRANTY COVERAGE ON PRODUCTS OR COMPONENTS LOST DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION OR LACK OF MAINTENANCE. PERIODIC INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE ARE REQUIRED ON ALL FASTENERS.
WARRANTY
LIMITED WARRANTY
Kuryakyn warrants that any Kuryakyn products sold hereunder, shall be free of
defects in materials & workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date
of purchase by the consumer excepting the following provisions:
- Kuryakyn shall have no obligation in the event the customer is unable to provide a receipt showing the date the customer purchased the product(s).
- The product must be properly installed, maintained & operated under normal conditions.
- Kuryakyn shall not be liable for any consequential & incidental damages, including labor & paint, resulting from failure of a Kuryakyn product, failure to deliver, delay in delivery, delivery in nonconforming condition, or for any breach of contract or duty between Kuryakyn & a customer.
- Kuryakyn products are often intended for use in specific applications. Kuryakyn makes no warranty if a Kuryakyn product is used in applications other than intended.
- Kuryakyn electrical products are warranted for one (1) year from the date of purchase by the consumer. L.E.D.’s contained in components of Kuryakyn products will be warranted for defects in materials & workmanship for 3 years from the date of purchase whereas all other components shall be warranted for one (1) year.
- All warranty claims must be directed to the place of purchase. Merchandise sold through internet auction sites or any other unauthorized reseller shall not carry a Kuryakyn warranty. If unsure, please contact the place of purchase to verify they are an authorized Kuryakyn reseller.
RETURN POLICY
Merchandise determined to be defective may be returned up to one year from the
date of purchase. Returns must be processed through original seller. Returned
merchandise for any other reason other than warranty claims must be in like
new condition & subject to a 20% restocking fee. All returns are subject to
inspection for determination of full or partial credit. Any returned part that
shows evidence of being used or installed contrary to manufacturer’s
instructions, &/or subjected to improper handling, packaging or return
shipping by the customer, will not be eligible for exchange, refund or
warranty consideration. All returned electrical items will be inspected &
tested. If electrical item is deemed functional, no credit will be issued &
item will be returned. All sales are final on discontinued or closeout
merchandise.
