How to pair

How to pair the earphones with a Bluetooth® device? (Mobile, PC, iPad, Tablet, etc.)

Important :

  • When pairing, keep the Bluetooth® device and earphones close together. (Approx. 1 m = Approx. 3 feet)

Pair with a Bluetooth® device (1st time pairing)

  1. Take both earphones (L and R) out of the charging cradle and wear them. (Earphones will announce “Pairing” followed by a melody sound – this means that the earphones are in the pairing mode).Technics-EAH-AZ80-S-True-Wireless-Bluetooth-Earbuds-fig-1
  2. From the Bluetooth® menu in the Bluetooth® device, select the earphones “Technics EAH-AZ80”
    • If asked to input a passkey, input the earphone passkey “0000” (four zeros).

Pair with a Bluetooth® device using the “Technics Audio Connect” app (1s time pairing)

  1. Download the [Technics Audio Connect] app from Google Play or iOS app store.
  2. Launch the [Technics Audio Connect] app.
  3. Select the model “EAH-AZ80” to pair.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Pairing 2nd Bluetooth® device (or subsequent device – Ex: Laptop, iPad, tablet)

  2. Press and hold both touch sensors (L and R) at the same time until you hear the word “pairing” followed by a melody sound (earphones now are in the paring mode)Technics-EAH-AZ80-S-True-Wireless-Bluetooth-Earbuds-fig-4
  3. From the Bluetooth® menu in the Bluetooth® device, select the earphones “Technics EAH-AZ80”
    • If asked to input a passkey, input the earphone passkey “0000” (four zeros).

Pairing 3rd device (These earphones can be connected to 3 devices at the same time and the 2nd or 3rd device connection is called MULTIPOINT, so that you do not have to disconnect and connect between the 3 devices when switching)

  1. Connect Headphones to the “Technics Audio Connect” App. Open app and select Settings →Select Multi-point → Select “3 devices”
  2.  Wear both earphones (L and R).
  3. Touch and hold both touch sensors (L and R) at the same time until you hear the word “pairing” followed by a melody sound (earphones now are in the paring mode)
  4. From the Bluetooth® menu in the Bluetooth® device, select the earphones “Technics EAH-AZ80”
    • If asked to input a passkey, input the earphone passkey “0000” (four zeros).

The earphones do not pair OR has poor connectivity

If the earphones do not pair with your mobile device:

  1. Restart your Bluetooth device (such as mobile, PC, etc.) and turn on the Bluetooth settings
  2. Confirm that the earphones are fully charged.
  3. Try to keep your Bluetooth device close to your earphones.
  4. Ensure that your earphones are in the pairing mode.
  5. Intermittent audio, or no audio may occur when using the earphones in an environment with a congested Wi-Fi signal, close to other wireless audio devices using Wi-Fi, microwaves, phones.
  6. Confirm there are no obstacles between the earphones and the Bluetooth® device.

How to wear the earphones to get the best fit and acoustics?
The earphones come with 7 different sizes earpieces. Choose the right earpiece that fit snug in your ears. If they are not worn properly, the overall sound may be significantly affected. With the Technics logo oriented vertically and the microphone pointing down towards your mouth, insert the earphones into your ears. The Noise Cancelling is weak or does not work:

  1. Confirm that the Noise Cancelling function is ON → Touch and hold the right earphone sensor unit you hear the voice guidance. If it does not say “Noise Canceling”, release the touch sensor and touch and hold again until the voice guidance says, “Noise Canceling”.
  2. Optimize the noise cancelling to your desired level using the app. Open the “Technics Audio Connect” app → Tap “Settings” → Under Operations/sound select “Optimizing noise cancellation (pre-adjustment)” → Adjust to the point where the Noise Cancellation is most effective to you.
  3. You can also adjust the noise canceling using the “Ambient sound control”. From the app home page select “Ambient” at the bottom. Select “Noise Canceling” and adjust from Min (1) to Max (100).   4. Make sure that the earphones are seated properly into your ears. If they are not worn properly, the noise cancelling may be significantly affected. There is no sound or has low/no sound from one earphone

  1. If foreign materials (such as earwax) build up in the earpiece, there may be no sound or the volume may seem lower than usual. Make sure there is no earwax, foreign matter, etc., attached to the earpieces of the earphones. Remove the earpieces from the main unit (earphones) and clean them regularly. Refer to How to clean earpieces. Earwax and other foreign matter attached to the holes of the earpieces can change the acoustic characteristics, such as making the sound smaller, and be the cause of malfunctions.
  2. If there is no sound coming from the earphones, the Bluetooth® connection may be unstable or earphones are not connected to the Bluetooth® device. Place the earphones in the charging case and wear them after ~20 seconds.
  3. Check if the music is playing on the Bluetooth® device.
  4. Increase earphone volume by tapping the touch sensor.
  5. Increase the volume on the Bluetooth ® device.
  6. The volume of Bluetooth® devices such as smartphones and the volume of the earphones may be controlled separately. Increase the volume of both the earphones and Bluetooth® device.
  7. For iPhone user – select settings – under Sound & Haptics – select “Headphone safety” – please enable “Reduce Loud Sounds”.
  8. Confirm that the earbuds are fully charged

  10. If the issue persists Initialize the earphones and perform the pairing again Using “Technics Audio Connect” app – This will delete all pairing information in the earphones.
  11. Take both earphones (L and R) out from the charging cradle and wear it.
  12. Open app and select settings
  13. Select “Headphone information”
  14. Select “Restore headphones to the factory settings”

How to clean the earpieces

  1. Remove the earpieces. Hold the earpiece and pullout while twisting slightly.
    Note: If you clean the earpieces while they are attached to the earphones, you may damage the protective mesh of the earphones.Technics-EAH-

  2. Wash the earpieces using a diluted neutral detergent or in warm water.

    • Do not remove the sponges from the earpieces.
  3. Rinse well with clean water after washing.

  4. Wrap the earpieces with a soft, dry cloth and press firmly about 3 to 5 times to remove the moisture. Dry them thoroughly.

  5. Remove earwax, foreign matter, etc., that has attached to the protective mesh of the earphones by blowing on it. Do not use cotton swab or dab with soft cloth to remove foreign material from the earphone mesh as it will clog the mesh.

Sound quality is not good

  1. For Optimal sound, we recommend that you try each of the different earpieces that are provided with the unit to have secure fit in your ear. Make sure when you insert the earphone into your ear the Technics logo is oriented vertically and the microphone pointing down towards your mouth, insert the earphones into your ears. Adjust as shown in the pictures so that the earpieces fit well into your ear canals
  2. If they feel like they are coming loose or hurt your ears, try to use properly sized earpieces that fit firmly into your ears. Provided earpiece sizes are shown below.Technics-EAH-AZ80-S-True-Wireless-Bluetooth-Earbuds-fig-20

  6. Update with the latest firmware. Newer firmware may improve the performance.

Charging case and/or the Earphones does not charge

  1. When charging using a PC, confirm the PC is turned on and is not in a standby or sleep mode. Check the USB type-C port is working fine on your PC. If not try other USB type-C ports.
  2. Check that the USB type-C charging cable is connected firmly between the charging case and the power source (USB Type-C adapter or PC USB-C port)
  3. If the charging cradle status indicator LED flashes (red, yellow, or green), it means the charging case is charging.
  4. Make sure that each earbud is seated properly into the charging case and are charging. Inside the charging case if there is Solid RED LED, it means that the earphones are charging. The charging completes when the RED LED indicator turns off.
  5. If there is any foreign material (such as dust or earwax) on the charging terminals the device will not charge properly.

Clean the charging terminals of the earphones as shown:

  • Use a cotton swab with a pointed tip to wipe off dirt from the charging terminals of the earphones.
  1. Put the tip of the cotton swab on the charging terminal (A).
  2. Rotate the cotton swab to wipe off dirt.

Clean the charging terminals of the charging case as shown:

  • Clean the contact pins of the charging cradle with a cotton swab or soft dry cloth.
  1. Put the cotton swab on the tip of the contact pin (B) from above.
  2. Stroke the tip of the contact pin with a cotton swab to wipe off dirt.

Note: Do not apply force to the contact pin from the side or at an angle. (It may result in malfunction.)
