Protocol for use

FKG XP-endo Retreatment Endodontic Instruments -
Protocol

  1. Gently engage DR1 rotating at 800-1000 rpm and 1.5  Ncm torque into the obturation material in order to create a 3-4 mm starting point for the XP-endo Shaper tip (Fig.  1). The active tip of DR1 facilitates the initial penetration.
  2. Place one drop of solvent in the coronal space created and wait for at least 1 minute (Fig. 2).FKG XP-endo Retreatment Endodontic Instruments - Gently
  3. Place the tip of XP-endo Shaper into the prepared space in the gutta percha, disengage slightly and start the motor at 10002500 rpm (Fig. 3).  Recommended torque at 1000 rpm : 1 Ncm.
  4. Use pecking motion until the XP-endo Shaper´s tip engages the gutta percha. Then use light pressure to help advance the XP-endo Shaper down the canal until working length (Fig.  4). Add solvent if needed.
  5. Allow the XP-endo Shaper to gently corkscrew around the gutta percha and tease out large strands of gutta percha using long gentle strokes (Fig.  5). Note : you may need to remove gutta percha from the surface of the instrument.
  6. After the removal of the gutta percha, measure the working length (WL) with an electronic apex locator.
  7. Once the WL is confirmed, achieve this length with the XP-endo Shaper, irrigate and fill the pulp chamber and canals with NaOCl.
  8. Use the XP-endo Shaper for 10-15 additional long gentle strokes to WL and irrigate the canal to eliminate suspended debris.
  9. Fix the canal working length on the XP-endo Finisher R (ISO 30) by using the plastic tube to adjust the endo stop.
  10.  Place the XP-endo Finisher R into the canal, then start the motor (800-1000 rpm, 1 Ncm) and slowly thread the XP-endo Finisher R into the canal.
  11. Use the XP-endo Finisher R for at least 1 minute (longer, if debris is still coming out of the canal), using slow and gentle longitudinal movements to contact the full length of the canal. Make small multidirectional movements and avoid removing the instrument from the canal (Fig. 6).
  12. Use copious NaOCl irrigation and suction to remove the gutta percha and sealer tags prior to complete the treatment (Fig. 7).
