FKG iRace Endodontic Instruments
Product Information
The iRace & iRace Plus are endodontic instruments used for shaping and irrigating the root canal during dental procedures. The instruments operate at a speed of 600 rpm with a torque of 1.5 Ncm. They come in different sizes and taper options for various cases.
Taper and ISO Diameter Identification:
- (1) Thin ring Taper: .02, .04, .06
- R1 – 15/.06
- R2 – 25/.04
- R3 – 30/.04
- (2) Large ring ISO sizes:
- R1a – 20/.02
- R1b – 25/.02
- R2 – 25/.04
- R3 – 30/.04
Product Usage Instructions
For Most Cases:
- Prepare the glide path first.
- Introduce R1 in rotation and reach the working length (WL). If R1 does not reach the WL, proceed to step 1 of the iRace Plus protocol.
- Continue shaping with R2 up to the WL.
- Finish the shaping with R3 up to the WL.
For Difficult Cases:
- Follow step 1 of the iRace protocol using R1a to reach the WL.
- Continue shaping with R1b up to the WL.
- Once WL is reached, continue from step 2 of the iRace protocol.
Sterilization Protocol for Reusable Medical Devices:
Note:
For first use, follow the non-sterile products instructions. For subsequent
uses, follow the sterile products instructions.
Non-Sterile Products – First Use:
- Carefully follow the cleaning and sterilization rules mentioned below.
Sterile Products – First Use:
- Open the alveolus.
- Extract the instrument (use gloves).
- Use the instrument according to good dental practice.
Sterile Products – Second Use and Following Uses:
Carefully follow the cleaning, inspection, packing, sterilization, and storage
rules mentioned below.
Cleaning:
- Manually clean the instruments with or without ultrasonic assistance.
- Rinse under distilled/demineralized water for at least 1 minute. Then dry the instruments.
- Inspect and sort out damaged or worn-out instruments.
Packing:
Place the instruments in a suitable support/container and pack them in
sterilization pouches ISO 11607-1.
Sterilization:
- Follow the sterilization protocol according to EN/ISO 17664.
Storage:
Keep the devices in sterilization wrap/pouch in a dry and clean environment.

Pull off petals to master metal fatigue:
- 1 x Simple case
- 2 x Medium case
- 4 x Difficult case
Rubber stop – ISO length/active part
- 21/16 mm
- 25/16 mm
- 31/16 mm
Golden rules
- Speed: 600 rpm
- Torque: 1.5 Ncm
- Long back-and-forth gentle strokes.
- Light touch, let the instrument work.
- Work 3-4 seconds in a row, get out, clean the blade and irrigate the canal.
iRace
- 1 blister includes: 1 x R1, 1 x R2, 1 x R3
For most cases
straight, slightly curved and/or large Prepare glide path first, then
- Introduce R1 in rotation and reach working length (WL); In case R1 does not reach the WL, do not force and go to step 1 of iRace Plus protocol
- Continue shaping with R2 up to WL;
- Finish the shaping with R3 up to WL.
iRace Plus
- 1 blister includes: 2 x (R1a + R1b)
For difficult cases
severely curved, narrow, and/or calcified
Following of iRace protocol step 1
- Use R1a to reach WL;
- Continue shaping with R1b up to WL;
When WL is reached, continue from step 2 of the iRace protocol.

- Carefully follow the rules here below

- Use the instrument according to good dental practice
Second use:
Carefully follow the rules here below Second and following uses.
Cleaning

Manual cleaning with/without
- Ultrasonic assistance
- Thorough cleaning allows efficient disinfection & sterilization.

Rinse
- Under distilled/demineralized water for at least 1 min.
- Then dry the instruments.

Inspection – Check
Sort out damaged or worn-out instruments. -
Packing
Place the instruments in a suitable support/container and pack the devices in sterilization pouches ISO 11607-1.
Sterilization -
According to EN/ISO 17664 protocol
- Autoclave: 134°C/273°F, 2.2 bar during 18 min.

Storage
Keep devices in sterilization wrap/pouch in a dry and clean environment.
Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for cycle & duration
Second and following uses -
Pre-disinfection
Plunge instruments after use in detergent solution and eventually brush them manually. -
Rinse
- Under running water at least 1 min.
- Then dry the instruments.

General information
Pre-/Disinfection DO NOT USE
solutions containing:
- phenol (corrosion)
- aldehyde (blood fixation)
- di-/triethanolamines (corrosion)
Sterilization with chemicals or dry air devices has not been validated by FKG Dentaire. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for cycle & duration. Nevertheless, our instruments withstand such methods.
Caution:
This product contains nickel and should not be used for individuals with known
allergic sensitivity to this metal.
A single patient use is recommended to avoid cross-contamination.
