- Put the burner nozzle on the workpiece, keep the trigger on the burner pressed until the arc lights up and starts cutting. Make sure there are no leads or foreign objects nearby that can put the work at risk.
- A suitable barrier, such as a welding curtain, should be put up to protect persons in the work area and to limit the spread of sparks.
USE
WARNING!
Use suitable personal protective equipment when working with the product.
Use approved, full coverage welding mask, heavy-duty safety gloves, welding
apron, breathing protection and heavy-duty work clothes without pockets when
working with the product. Do no look at the arc with unprotected eyes – risk
of permanent eye damage. Radiation from the arc can cause burn injury on bare
skin. Avoid inhaling fumes.
IMPORTANT
The duty factor indicates how many minutes during a 10-minute period the
product can produce a given current. This product has integrated overheating
protection to prevent damage. The red status light goes on when the product
overheats. If the product overheats it switches off automatically and can be
restarted when it has cooled. Stop using the product, but leave the power
switch switched on for the cooling fan. The status light goes off when the
product has cooled and the work can be resumed.
-
Place the workpiece on a metal welding table in such a way that cut parts drop down onto the concrete floor.
-
The product should be placed at least 2 metres from the workpiece.
-
Adjust the knob on the pressure regulator so that the pressure gauge shows 4 to 5 bar (0.4–0.5 MPa). The supplied air must be dry. It is recommended to fit a moisture filter on the compressor (sold separately). Do not use mist lubrication.
-
Fasten the earth clip firmly on part of the workpiece or the metal table, free from paint, oil and dirt. Fasten the clip as close to the workpiece as possible without damaging the cable during the cutting.
-
Set the required amperage with the potentiometer (15–40 A) for the metal to be cut. Use low amperage for thin workpieces and high amperage for thick workpieces.
-
Check that the power switch is switched off and put the plug in a separate power point with a slow blow fuse.
-
Hold the burner firmly.
WARNING!
The burner is supplied with voltage when the trigger is pressed. Make sure the burner is at a safe distance from persons or flammable material before the trigger is pressed. -
When everything is ready for cutting put the power switch in the on position. The green voltage indicator goes on.
WARNING!
Point the burner away from the body when pressing the trigger, otherwise there is a risk of serious personal injury. -
Put the burner nozzle on the workpiece, keep the trigger on the burner pressed until the arc lights up and the yellow status light for cutting goes on. Make sure that the burner does not come into contact with anything other than the workpiece.
-
Move the burner slowly along the cutting line. Tilt the burner a little so that the nozzle points towards the finished part of the cut and the flow of air carries the smelt metal away from the workpiece. If the cut does not have the required quality, set a higher amperage with the potentiometer and/or increase the air flow.
-
The burner nozzle must be in light contact all the time with the workpiece when cutting, otherwise the arc can go out.
-
The burner has a 2.5S/5S nozzle, which is cooled by the flow of air when the trigger is released.
NOTE:
If the current consumption is too high the overheating protection will trip
and the red status light goes on. The product switches off automatically. The
work can be resumed when the product has cooled.
AFTER CUTTING
- Release the trigger and lift the burner off the workpiece.
- Put the power switch in the off position.
- Place the burner on the welding table.
- Switch offthe air supply.
- Pull out the plug.
- Wait until all the parts of the product have cooled. Store the product indoors, out of the reach of children.
Plasma cutting
- Plasma cutting requires training. Practice lighting the arc and keeping it lit on spare pieces. This makes it easier to judge which settings are suitable for the material to be cut.
- The product can be used to cut all electrically conductive metal, up to carbon steel or the equivalent with a thickness of about 12 mm. Very thin or very thick workpieces are more difficult to cut.
- Set the air pressure to 4 to 5 bar. A higher air pressure gives a faster flow of plasma and a higher cutting pressure. The air pressure and amperage should be adjusted up/down at the same time.
- Move the burner more slowly for thicker workpieces of hard metal, and more slowly for thin workpieces of soft metal. Keep the burner moving all the time during the cutting.
