BEGA 99 458 Pendant Luminaire for Catenary Systems
Product Information
The product is a pendant luminaire designed for use with catenary systems. It has a symmetrical flat beam light distribution, making it suitable for illuminating streets according to DIN EN 13 201. The luminaire’s cable hanger system is compatible with transverse suspension systems and longitudinal chain systems.
Dark Sky: The luminaire directs its light evenly and efficiently onto the surface to be illuminated, without emitting any light into the upper half- space.
Safety: The installation and operation of this luminaire must comply with national safety regulations. Only qualified electricians should carry out the installation and commissioning. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage caused by improper use or installation. Modifications to the luminaire should only be made by authorized personnel. Overvoltage Protection: The luminaire’s electronic components are protected against overvoltage according to DIN EN 61547. For additional protection against transients, it is recommended to use separate overvoltage protection components available on the manufacturer’s website.

Dark Sky
The light of this luminaire is directed evenly and highly efficiently onto the
surface to be illuminated. No light is emitted into the upper half-space of
the luminaire.
Safety
- The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national safety regulations.
- Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
- The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or installation.
- If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the manufacturer.
Overvoltage protection
- The electronic components installed in the luminaire are protected against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547.
- To achieve an additional protection against e. g. transients, etc. we recommend separate overvoltage protection components.

Installation
- Place cable hanger with luminaire onto the tension cable. Align unit axially.
- Make tight connection between cable clamp with thrust screws M8 and tension cable.
- Secure thrust screw with lock nut.
- For through-wiring of the mains supply cable the dummy screw gland must be replaced with enclosed screw cable gland.
- Open the connection box and lead free line ends into connection box.
- Make earth conductor connection und electrical connection to connecting terminal.
- For digital control please use the connecting terminal DA, DA.
- In case this connector is not used the luminaire will be operated at full light output.
- Tighten screw cable glands firmly.
- When no through wiring is done, one screw cable gland must be closed with the enclosed dummy plug. Close the connection box.
- Make sure that the gasket is positioned correctly.
- Tighten screws evenly.
- In case the supporting cable is not stretched in a horizontal position it is possible to bring the luminaire in a horizontal burning position by adjusting the screw joint at the junction box. Adjustable range ± 5°.
Please note
- Do not remove the desiccant bag from the luminaire housing.
- It is needed to remove residual moisture.
Replacing the LED module
- The designation of the LED module is noted on a label in the luminaire.
- The light colour and light output of BEGA replacement modules correspond to those of the modules originally fitted.
- The module can be replaced by qualified persons using standard tools.
- Disconnect the system and open the luminaire.
- Please follow the installation instructions for the LED module.
- Inspect and, if necessary, replace the luminaire gaskets.
- Defective glass must be replaced.
- Close the luminaire.
