INSTALLATION, CONNECTION

Before connecting the amplifier to the mains, use the screw clamps on the rear to secure the wires of the two sound boxes (not supplied) to the speaker output according to the polarity specified. Then plug in all audio connection cables to be used. Then connect the mains cable of the switched off amplifier to the amplifier and then to the mains. Make sure the device is connected correctly then witch it on using the POWER button on the front. Select a signal source (INPUT) and adjust the controls on the front panel and on the remote control as required.

  • You can use sound boxes with an impedance of 4 – 8 Ohms (16 Ohms is also allowed) and a minimum loading capacity of 2x 40-50 Watts (for 8 Ohms) or 2x 80-100 Watts (for 4 Ohms). Examples of recommended types are SAL 150, BXB 100/8, BXB 10050P.

  • Make sure that the connection is stable, free of shortcuts and conforms to the required polarity.
Do not allow the ends of wires or connectors to come into contact with each other or with the enclosure.

  • The polarity of the speaker connectors marked red and black is positive and negative polarity.

  • Use a speaker cable with a minimum cross-section of 2×0.75 mm².

  • Attention! Improper connection may cause malfunction.

  • Attention! The unit can only be switched off by pressing the POWER button on the front panel.
The top right on/off button on the remote control will mute the speakers, but the unit will remain in operation. A long press will also switch off the display, another long press will switch it back on. After use, turn off with the POWER switch. If you are not going to use it for a longer period of time, unplug it from the mains.

  • If necessary, ask a professional for assistance for putting into operation.

VOLUME ADJUSTMENT

Volume can be adjusted with the use of the controls VOLUME on the front panel, and VOL on the remote control.

  • Note that the settings of the knob, the remote control and the external signal source (e.g., BT mobile phone, and devices connected to the CD and AUX wired inputs) affect the actual volume and sound quality. It is recommended that the tone controls of external devices are switched off or set to the middle position.
  • It is recommended to keep the controls of the signal sources at the level where they still provide the required volume. Unreasonably high volume settings may increase noise and distortion.

MAXIMUM VOLUME

Higher volume settings may, in some cases, result in distorted sound of unsatisfactory quality. This may be caused by an excessively high input signal or excessive use of (external) tone controls. In case of distortion, turn down the volume and check then adjust the signal source settings. Overcontrol can easily be caused by connecting devices with incorrect signal levels. The maximum system volume is the one that can still be heard in good quality without distortion.

  • Increasing on the volume will not increase the output power and will increase the distortion of the system. This is harmful to the speakers and can lead to malfunction.

SELECTING THE FUNCTIONS

When the device is switched on, the last selected signal source is active. Press the INPUT button repeatedly to select the desired function:
BLUE – AUX – CD – FM RADIO – OPTI – COAX – USB

  • The digital display shows the current mode. Some characters differ from the usual letters.
  • Not all functions and buttons work in the same way in different modes.

BT – WIRELESS CONNECTION

In addition to the wired inputs, it is possible to connect external devices via a wireless BT connection. This could be a mobile phone, tablet, computer… Use the INPUT button to select BLUE mode. Search for BT devices in the vicinity, including this device, as described in the instructions for the device you want to pair. Connect the two devices to each other. If successful, the  display will show the text BLUE continuously and a short beep will be heard. Next, use the music player application of the mobile phone, and adjust the volume and tone controls on the phone and amplifier accordingly. Functions available on the amplifier include:►11 play and pause / ⏮⏭ skip programme. Their operation depends on the external device and the application started on it. For example, it is possible that the play/pause button only mutes the speakers and the skip buttons do not work. In this case, try another music player application.

  • Disconnect any BT devices that may already be connected to your mobile device before connecting.
  • The amplifier can be paired wirelessly with one BT device at a time within a range of 5-10 metres.
  • After switching on, it will usually automatically reconnect to a previously paired and properly connected device if it is nearby and switched on.
  • If the wireless connection is lost, switch it back to BT mode if necessary to reactivate pairing mode – or switch BT mode off and on again on the external device.
  • If a call is received on the connected mobile phone while listening to music, music replay will pause. After the call, start to resume replay on the phone if it is not done automatically.
  • The actual range depends on the other device and the environmental conditions (e.g., walls, human bodies, other electrical appliances, movement…)
  • Abnormal operation and noise may be caused by nearby radio frequency devices, this does not indicate a malfunction of the device.
  • Wireless listening to music can naturally be noisier than using wired connection for this purpose.
  • Abnormal operation may be caused by the specific characteristics of the external device, this does not indicate a malfunction. Occasionally, the operation of the BT function may be limited due to the specific characteristics of the external device.
  • The volume and sound quality of different audio files may differ due to their different parameters.
  • The available sound quality depends on the quality of the audio signal provided by the external device and its volume and tone settings.
  • A low signal (volume) input to an amplifier may cause excess noise, and a too high signal may cause distortion. It is recommended to keep the volume of the signal source at a medium level.

AUX & CD – STEREO AUDIO INPUTS

If you have a device equipped with 2xRCA audio outputs or headphone socket, you can listen to it through the amplifier. The devices must be connected to each other with wires. This could be a mobile phone, tablet, computer, multimedia player, audio equipment, CD/DVD, HiFi equipment, television, cable TV box, video game…) Connect the appropriate audio cable (not included) to the 2xRCA sockets and select AUX or CD mode.

  • The sound quality available depends on the quality of the audio signal provided by the external device and its volume and tone settings.

  • It is recommended to turn off the tone control and use it only on the amplifier.

  • A low signal (volume) input to an amplifier may cause excess noise, and a too high signal may cause distortion. It is recommended to keep the volume of the signal source at a medium level.

  • A connection cable and in some cases an external adaptor may be required for proper connection. For more information, refer to the user manual of the device you want to connect.

STEREO FM RADIO

Select the radio mode with the INPUT button and the current reception frequency (MHz) will be displayed. Plug the supplied antenna cable into the FM ANT connector on the rear panel. Carefully straighten and secure the wire in a vertical position. Find the ideal position for the wire while using the radio. You can get much better reception by connecting the coaxial antenna cable from your home to the amplifier with a swinging coaxial socket instead To start automatic tuning and storage, press long the ►11 / SCAN button. (A short press will mute the speakers.) The search and storage process can be followed on the display. The number and frequency of the radio stations are displayed one after the other. Once they have been entered ( P1… P2…P3…) the display switches to the first station found. You can then use the ⏮ / CH- and/ CH+ buttons to step them.

  • The search will stop if it detects varying signal strength – this does not always mean a radio station has been found.

  • The reception capability of the radio largely depends on where it is being used and the current reception conditions.

  • Nearby electrical equipment and large metal objects can deteriorate reception quality.

  • Be careful when adjusting the rear antenna to the best reception position. The position of the equipment also affects the quality of reception. If possible, use a coaxial antenna cable for better reception.

  • The radio is stereo, but in poor reception conditions only mono sound can be provided.

  • Abnormal operation and noise may be caused by nearby radio frequency equipment, but this does not indicate a malfunction of the equipment.

OPTICAL & COAXIAL – STEREO DIGITAL AUDIO INPUTS

The amplifier is also equipped with a built-in digital-to-analogue converter. This allows you to connect equipment with digital audio output, such as LCD/LED TV, Set Top Box, DVB-T receiver, DVD/Blue-ray player, etc. Modern televisions usually do not have a conventional audio output, so they cannot be connected to conventional amplifiers and HiFi equipment. This amplifier allows you to listen to your TV at a really good sound quality. The external device can be connected to the amplifier using a digital coaxial (RCA) or optical (TOSLINK) cable (not supplied). Select the input you want to listen to by pressing the INPUT button: OPTI or COAX.

  • The available sound quality depends on the quality of the audio signal provided by the external device, as well as on the volume and tone settings of the audio signal, with the latter features depending on the type of device.
  • If the speakers do not sound when properly connected, the type of sound output must be set in the menu of the connected device (e.g., TV, Set Top Box). PCM mode is recommended.

USB – MP3/WMA/FLAC/WAV REPLAY

When the USB device is inserted, the device switches to USB mode and replay starts. The display shows the elapsed time of the current programme and the song number when stepping. The available functions are:►11 play and pause / ⏮⏭ skip programme, when pressed and held: quick search. Use the numeric keys on the remote control to directly select the number of the song you want to play.

Some extra functions are only available when the USB player is in operation. It is possible to repeat the current song ( ONE ) or all songs ( ALL ) by pressing the REPEAT button on the remote control.

  • Do not remove the USB device during replay as this may damage the data. Switch to another source with the INPUT button first.

  • The recommended file system is FAT32. Do not use NTFS formatted memory units.

  • Do not create directories on the storage.

  • Depending on the compressed files, the used compression software and the quality of the USB memory, there may be some malfunctions which are not due to the insufficiencies of the appliance.

  • Furthermore, replay of supported files is not guaranteed in all cases, as this may be affected by software and hardware conditions independent of the manufacturer. Replay of DRM files subject to copyright is not guaranteed.

  • The volume and sound quality of different audio files may differ due to their different parameters.

  • We do not recommend the use of a USB memory larger than 32GB, as its management may cause slowing down or stuttering.

  • Do not store any other types of files on the USB device than the playable files, as they may cause slowing down or hinder replay.

  • The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for lost or corrupted data, etc., even if the data, etc. is lost while using this product. It is recommended that you should prepare a backup of the data and programmes on the connected media to your computer beforehand.

  • Due to the specific characteristics of external devices, there may be malfunctions which are not due to the defects of the equipment.

  • Do not connect a mobile device to the USB socket for charging.

AUDIO SETUP MENU FUNCTIONS / RESET

Press the MENU button on the front panel to select the feature you want to change. Turn the VOLUME knob to make the change. These adjustments can also be made using the remote control. V (VOLUME): volume / T (TREBLE): treble / B (BASS): bass

  • After switching off, the unit remembers the last settings, such as the selected signal source and tone settings.
  • The RESET button on the remote control activates the factory settings.

KARAOKE MODE – CONNECTING MICROPHONES

If you have a microphone with a 6.3 mm plug, you can sing along with the songs you play. Insert the plug of the microphone(s) into the socket labelled MIC1 and/or MIC2. Turn on the switch integrated in the handle. The sound of the microphone(s) can be played at the desired volume and even echoed. Look for the following buttons on the remote control:
M.VOL +/- (MIC VOLUME): microphone volume / M.ECHO +/- (MIC ECHO): microphone echo

  • Do not place the microphone in front of or close to the speakers, as it may cause a beeping sound or excitation. The ideal location for microphones is behind the sound boxes.
  • Keep the microphone close to your mouth. Different microphones can produce a different sound quality.
  • You can also connect a wireless microphone set instead of wired microphones. E.g. MVN 300, MVN 600. Recommended wired microphones: M 41, M61, M8.

SUBWOOFER OUT

You can further enhance the sound by connecting an active subwoofer (integrated with an amplifier) to the amplifier. Use an RCA-RCA connector cable (not supplied) following the instructions for the subwoofer. You can connect one RCA plug (SW OUT) to the amplifier, but it is possible that the active subwoofer has two RCA sockets. Usually this does not cause any problems in operation. You can use the common 2xRCA-2xRCA connector cables, as shown in the diagram at the front. Check the instructions for your subwoofer for details.

REMOTE CONTROL

The button functions are described at the beginning of this manual. To operate the remote control, insert 2xAAA (1.5V) batteries in the battery compartment according to the indicated polarities. If you subsequently experience unstable operation or reduced range, replace the batteries again.

  • When using the remote control, point it in the direction of the display of the amplifier and stay within 5 to 6 metres of the amplifier.
  • To replace the battery, turn the remote control downwards with the buttons facing down, and then open the battery compartment. Follow the markings inside.
  • Do not use batteries that are of different brands or in different condition together. Battery replacement should only be carried out by an adult. Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
  • WARNING! EXPLOSION HAZARD IN CASE OF INCORRECT BATTERY REPLACEMENT. REPLACE ONLY WITH THE SAME OR A SUBSTITUTE TYPE. DO NOT EXPOSE THE BATTERY TO DIRECT HEAT OR SUNLIGHT AND DO NOT THROW IT INTO A FIRE. IF THE BATTERY SHOULD LEAK, WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND CLEAN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT WITH A DRY CLOTH.
KEEP THE BATTERY OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. THE BATTERY MUST NOT BE OPENED, THROWN INTO A FIRE, SHORT-CIRCUITED OR CHARGED. RISK OF EXPLOSION.
