WARNINGS

  1. Before use of the product, please read this instructions manual and keep it for future reference. The original document was prepared in Hungarian language. This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years or above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are supervised or have been given instructions concerning the use of the appliance and understand the hazards involved. Children may not play with the appliance. Children may perform the cleaning or user maintenance of the appliance subject to supervision. After removal of the packaging, inspect the product for possible damage during shipment. Keep the packaging away from children if it contains plastic bags or other potentially hazardous items.
  2. Make sure that the connections are firm, avoid short-circuiting and observe the correct polarity. Red/black colour coding: positive/negative polarity.
  3. Do not turn the power on or off at high volumes, as the generating noise may damage the speakers.
  4. In order to protect the audio system from external noise, run audio cables separately from network cables.
  5. Avoid connecting or disconnecting cables during use. Otherwise the resulting noise burst can damage the loudspeakers.
  6. When routing the connecting cables, make sure that their insulation is not damaged.
  7. Speakers are vulnerable parts and must not be touched by hand or other tools.
  8. Turn off the amplifier immediately if you notice any errors, and contact a professional. Many signs of irregular operation (no sound, unpleasant smell, foreign object etc.) are easy to detect.
  9. The speakers contain magnets, so do not place sensitive products (e.g. credit card, tape recorder, compass…) in their vicinity.
  10. Protect the device from splashing water and avoid placing objects filled with liquids, such as drinking glasses on the device. Do not place sources of open flame, such as candles on the device.
  11. Protect the device from dust, humidity, liquids, high temperatures, moisture, frost and shocks, as well as from direct heat and sunlight. Only for use under dry, indoor conditions.
  12. Incorrect installation or unprofessional use will void the product warranty.
  13. After the useful life of the product, it is to be considered as hazardous waste. Dispose of the product according to local legislation.
  14. This product is for household use, it is not intended for industrial-commercial applications.
  15. Due to continuous development, the technical specifications and design of this product may change without prior notice. The most recent instructions manual is available for download from www.somogyi.huwebsite.
  16. However we regret such inconvenience, we do not take any responsibility for possible printing errors.

To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.

DISPOSAL

Waste equipment must be collected and disposed separately from household waste because it may contain components hazardous to the environment or health. Used or waste equipment may be dropped off free of charge at the point of sale, or at any distributor which sells equipment of identical nature and function. Dispose of product at a facility specializing in the collection of electronic waste. By doing so, you will protect the environment as well as the health of others and yourself. If you have any questions, contact the local waste management organization. We shall undertake the tasks pertinent to the manufacturer as prescribed in the relevant regulations and shall bear any associated costs arising.

MAXIMUM SPEAKER VOLUME
Due to their special design, speakers require special handling. All speakers should be run in before normal use. During the first 30 to 50 hours of operation, the sound system should be used at maximum 50% capacity. During this time, avoid increasing the volume near the maximum power. It is then that the factory rated characteristics and sound quality can be achieved. The maximum volume of a system is the one, at which the sound produced is high quality and distortion free. Any further increase of the volume will not increase the output power, but raise the distortion which may cause damage to the system.
THE AMPLIFIER
Use only an amplifier of the appropriate quality and power! At higher volumes, a low quality or low power amplifier may generate significant distortion, which may impose harmful loads on the speakers. Using an amplifier with a power output higher than required may also overload an incompatible speaker. Overloading may damage the speaker. This is a typical sign of improper use. Turn off the amplifier immediately if you notice a rubbing noise or distorted sound, or if you detect a strange smell coming from the sound box. All speakers can be ruined by connecting to an inappropriate amplifier or operating carelessly. The amplifier should have an output impedance between 4 and 8 Ohms.
PUTTING INTO USE
Make sure that the impedance and power specifications of the amplifier and the speaker are appropriate for their connection. The peak power of the speaker should be at least 30 to 50% higher than the peak output power of the amplifier specified for each channel. Connect the wires to the speakers and amplifier properly, especially observing the +/- polarity. During this time, make sure that the amplifier is disconnected. The red colour means positive polarity. Some products may come with a free speaker wire so that one can try them. You can replace this with a professional version for better sound. We recommend using pure copper or silver-plated copper speaker wires with a cross section of at least 2 x 0.75mm². The wires must be firmly tightened in the terminal connectors. The bare ends of the wires must not touch each other.
Before switching on for the first time, check that the entire sound system for firm and short-circuit-free connections observing the correct polarity, and that the volume control is in the minimum position. In order to avoid knocking of the speakers, do not make any cable connections on the amplifier or speakers during operation. Never switch on (or off) the system at high volume settings. The sudden noise possibly occurring may immediately damage your speakers. Note that the output power indicated on the amplifier is always meant with the equalizers turned off. When the equalizer is set to high treble or bass response, the speaker load may be several times higher at the given frequencies.
MAGNETIC FRONT PANELS
The removable front panels contain magnets. These allow the protecting grid to be easily removed when cleaning or inspecting the speakers. To remove the grid, hold it with one finger at the top two corners, and pull it. After replacement, perform positioning when the magnets already hold it. Do not touch the speaker membrane!
PLACING THE SPEAKERS
They should be directed straight at the listener, and placed 30-50cm away from any wall or furniture. The sound boxes of the left and right audio channels should be placed at least 1.5 to 2.5m apart from each other to achieve stereo surround sound. It is best practice to try different positions, and then determine the final location of the speakers. Compare the differences in the bass (drums, bass…), middle (vocals, horns…) and treble (cymbals…) sounds.
If a microphone is connected to the amplifier, place it as far away from the sound box as possible to avoid feedback. Do not turn the speaker toward the microphone, as feedback will damage the speakers. When using a microphone, increase the volume carefully and, if you notice any excitation, immediately rewind the control and, if necessary, move the sound box to another position!
CLEANING
Use a soft, dry cleaning cloth. Avoid the use of any aggressive detergents and liquids. Do not let liquids get inside the unit or on its connectors.
MAINTENANCE
Periodically check the integrity of the speakers and wires. In case of a malfunction, immediately disconnect the appliance and contact a specialist.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you detect any error, review the following checklist. This guide may help you identify the issue, provided that the appliance is connected properly. Consult a specialist if necessary.
The speaker does not produce sound:

  • The amplifier is not switched on.
  • Check the status and functioning of the amplifier.
  • The speaker is not connected to the amplifier properly.
  • Check the connecting wires for correct polarity, possible breakage/short circuit and correct connection.
  • Inadequate volume or sound quality:
  • The speaker is not connected to the amplifier properly.
  • Check the connecting wires for correct polarity, possible breakage/short circuit and correct connection.
  • Distorted, bad sound:
  • Decrease the volume and check the equalizer settings.
  • The signal source connected to the input of the amplifier provides a signal that is too high or of poor quality in itself.
  • Check the quality of the audio source and the power of the signal.
