Multiplex BIC MF Ice Shaver Belt Replacement Instructions
Multiplex is a company that offers a range of beverage dispensing solutions. The BIC MF Ice Shaver Belt is a replacement part for the Blend-in-Cup (BIC) units, including MA-8-2, MA-8-2BF, and MA-8-2AF.
Instructions for Replacement
Before beginning the replacement process, please ensure that the unit is turned OFF and unplugged. Follow the instructions below for a successful replacement:
- Power OFF the unit using the switch located on the LEFT side of the unit and unplug it. Place an empty bucket under the drain if necessary.
- Remove the two (2) Phillips head screws that secure the top rear panel and set the panel aside. Keep the refrigeration cabinet door closed so that the product remains chilled.
- Remove the mounting bracket that contains the power supply, relays, and SRB. Remove the screw(s) that secure the mounting bracket to the unit. Slightly lift the bracket, releasing the right-side hinge, then carefully lower the bracket down towards the lower refrigerated cabinet.
- Mark the position of the motor on the mounting bracket by marking a line along the edge of the motor onto the mounting bracket.
- Locate the two (2) hex head bolts that secure the Hall Effect Sensor Bracket to the shaver motor mounting bracket.
- Completely remove the two (2) bolts that secure the Hall Effect sensor mounting bracket to the motor mounting bracket. Move Hall Effect sensor bracket aside.
- Loosen the two (2) bolts that secure the motor to the mounting bracket.
- Push the motor towards the front of the unit to disengage the ice shaver belt. Remove the old ice shaver belt.
- Install the new ice shaver belt over the pillow block pulley and the ice shaver motor pulley.
- Locate the line marking the motor position on the mounting bracket and move the motor back into place.
- Confirm that the end of the Hall Effect Sensor is 1/16 inch (1.6mm) from the edge of the bracket. An American or Canadian dime is approximately 1/16 inch (1.6mm) thick.
- Install Hall Effect Sensor Bracket Assembly to the motor mounting bracket using the two (2) bolts. Verify wire restraint with grounding wire has been secured with the left bolt.
- Confirm that the end of the Hall Effect Sensor did not shift and is still 1/16 inch (1.6mm) from the edge of the sensor bracket.
- If necessary, apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to the Hall Effect Sensor to protect against condensation.
- Plug in the unit and power it ON.
Note that there are two different User Interface (UI) screens used on BIC units, and on-screen options vary by screen. Please refer to the picture below for UI screen reference names.
When working near heat sinks, use extreme caution as they may contain electric power even after the unit has been powered OFF and disconnected from the power source.
