TOOLS NEEDED
INSTALLATION
WARNING: Ensure electricity is TURNED OFF at the main circuit breaker or
fuse box. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL FIXTURE WITH THE POWER ON. Verify that
power is OFF at the junction box using the AC voltage tester before
installation. If you do not feel comfortable installing on your own, contact a
qualified electrician.
Step 1: Choose mounting location
Select a waterproof surface mount or recessed electrical junction box
hardwired to 120VAC — ideal height is 8ft. above ground.
Step 2: Install mounting bracket
With the “FRONT” side facing you, use the mounting bracket screws (A, B or C)
to install the bracket to the junction box.
NOTE: You only need to use the mounting bracket screws that match your
junction box.
Step 3: Make electrical connections
Use wire strippers to strip the house AC power supply wires to expose 3/8in.
of wire. Push the house AC supply wires into the connector as shown in the
figure. Connect the ground house wire to the ground screw on the mounting
bracket.
Route the fixture connector through the gasket and push the two connectors
together.
Step 5: Mount light fixture
Align the light fixture and mounting bracket and tighten the pre-installed
fixture bolt. Place the rubber plug over the hole.
Step 6: Waterproofing
Apply exterior use waterproof caulk sealant to any gaps behind the light
fixture and wall/eave.
Step 7: Restore power
Restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse box, then wait approximately 40
seconds for the motion sensor to calibrate.
Step 8: Adjust motion sensor and floodlights
Angle the motion sensor as needed and rotate the floodlights where you want
the lights to shine. See the figure below.
OPERATION
Test Mode
Set the TIMER dial to “Test” and the DISTANCE dial to “10ft.” Slowly walk in
an arc across the front of the motion sensor. When the light turns on, stop
moving and wait about 4 seconds for the light to turn off. Repeat the process,
moving farther away each time to establish and adjust your preferred detection
distance.
TIMER
Choose ” 1 min”, “5 min” or “l0min” to determine when the floodlights will
turn off after motion is no longer detected.
DISTANCE
Set the motion-detection range to “Oft”, “Oft.” or “S0ft.” The light will turn
on when movement is detected within the selected range.
Night Light
The 100-lumen, 2200K, warm white light bar on the base of the security light
automatically turns on in low light conditions and off in bright conditions ON
at dusk, OFF at dawn.
Manual Override
If connected to a wall switch, the flood light can be manually turned on or
off. This feature only works when the security light is in low light
conditions.
To turn ON or OFF manual flood light override mode
Turn the switch OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 3 seconds
TROUBLESHOOTING
Issue | Possible Causes | Possible Solutions |
---|---|---|
The security light will not come on. | • The wall switch is turned off. |
• The fuse is blown or the circuit breaker is turned off.
• Daylight turn-off (photocell) is in effect.
• The fixture wiring is incorrect (if this is a new installation).
• The motion sensor is aimed in the wrong direction.
• The outside air temperature is close to the same as a person’s body heat.| •
Turn the wall switch on.
• Replace the fuse or turn the circuit breaker on.
• Recheck after dark.
• Verify the wiring is correct.
• Reposition the motion sensor to cover the desired area.
• Increase the “Distance” Setting.
The light comes on during the day.| • The light fixture may be installed in a
relatively dark location.
• The Security Light Timer switch is in the “Test” position.
• Daylight was reduced due to weather conditions.| • The light fixture is
operating normally under these circumstances.
• Set the Security Light Timer switch to the 1min, 5min or 10min setting.
• The light will turn off after 15 minutes of normal daylight exposure.
The light comes on for no apparent reason.| • The motion sensor may be sensing
small animals or automobile trac.
• The “Distance” control is set to high.
• The outside temperature is much warmer or cooler than a person’s body heat
(summer or winter).
• The light fixture is wired through a dimmer or timer.
• The motion sensor may be aimed towards heat sources such as; air
conditioners, heating vents or other light sources.| • Decrease the “Distance”
setting or reposition the motion sensor.
• Do not use a dimmer or timer to control the light fixture. Replace the
dimmer or timer with a standard ON/OFF wall switch.
• Reposition motion sensor away from heat sources such as air conditioners,
heat vents or other light sources.
The night light turns on too late in the evening.| • The light fixture is
exposed to an external light source.| • Reposition motion sensor away from
external light source or reposition external light source away from light
fixture.
The night light turns on too early in the evening.| • The light fixture is
installed in a relatively dark location.| • The light fixture is operating
normally under these circumstances.
The night light turns off too late in the morning.| • The light fixture is
installed in a relatively dark location.| • The light fixture is operating
normally under these circumstances.
The lights stay on continuously.| • The motion sensor may be picking up a heat
source, such as an air vent, dryer vent or brightly painted, heat-reflective
surface.
• The motion sensor is in “Test” mode.
• The light fixture is wired through a dimmer or timer.
• The light fixture is on the same circuit as a motor, transformer or
fluorescent bulb.
• The light fixture is installed in a relatively dark location.| • Decrease
the “Distance” setting or reposition the motion sensor.
• Switch the motion sensor to 1min, 5min or 10min setting.
• Do not use a dimmer or timer to control the light fixture. Replace the
dimmer or timer with a standard ON/OFF wall switch.
• Install the light fixture on a circuit without motors, transformers or
fluorescent bulbs.
• The light fixture is operating normally under these circumstances.
The lights flash on and off.| • Heat or light from the lamp head may be
turning the motion sensor on and off.
• Heat is being reflected from other objects and may be turning the motion
sensor on and off.
• The motion sensor is in the “Test” mode and warming up for 40 seconds.
• The photocell is sensing reflected light from the fixture.| • Reposition the
lamp heads away from the motion sensor.
• Decrease the “Distance” setting or reposition the motion sensor.
• The light fixture is operating normally under these circumstances.
• Reposition the lamp heads or motion sensor to avoid light reflecting into
the motion sensor.
The lights flash once then stay off in manual mode.| • The motion sensor is
detecting light from the lamp heads.| • Reposition the lamp heads to keep the
area below the motion sensor relatively dark.
