SAFETY WARNINGS

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USE.

  • The appliance has been designed to be used for household purposes or similar, such as:

  • in cooking areas reserved for shop staff, offices, and other professional environ-ments on farms

  • hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, and other residential facilities (for use by guests).

  • Do not use the appliance for purposes other than those described in this manual.

  • The manufacturer declines any responsibility for misuse or for any use of other than those specified in this manual. Improper use also results in voiding any form
    of warranty.

  • We suggest keeping the original packaging, as free assistance is not provided for failures resulting from inadequate packaging of the product at the time of shipping to an authorized Service Centre.

  • In order not to compromise the safety of the appliance, use only original spare parts and accessories authorized by the manufacturer.

  • The appliance complies with the Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 of 27/10/2004 concerning the materials intended to come into contact with food products.

Danger for children

  • The appliance can be used by children over 8 years of age and by people with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities, or who lack experience or knowledge, only if they are supervised by a responsible person or if they have received and understood the instructions and the existing dangers when using the appliance.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and maintenance by the user shall not be carried out by children unless they are older than 8 years and are supervised during the operation.
  • Always keep the appliance and the power cord out of the reach of children under the age of 8.
  • Do not let the power cord hang in a place where it could be grasped by a child.
  • Position the appliance so that children cannot reach the hot parts.
  • Do not leave the packaging near children as it is a potential source of danger.
  • If you decide to dispose of this appliance as waste, it is recommended to make it inoperative by cutting the power cord. It is also recommended to make harmless the parts of the appliance that could constitute a danger, especially for children who could use the appliance as a game.

Danger due to electricity

  • Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, check that the voltage shown on the identification plate under the appliance matches the local voltage supply.
  • Always connect the appliance to an earthed socket.
  • The use of extension cords not authorized by the Manufacturer of the appliance can lead to damages and accidents.
  • Never pull the power cord or the appliance to disconnect the plug from the power outlet.
  • Never put live parts in contact with water: risk of short circuit and/or electric shock.
  • Do not leave the power cord against sharp parts or sharp edges.
  • The power cord shall not touch hot surfaces.
  • Unplug the appliance from the power outlet and wait for the hot parts to cool down before carrying out any cleaning and maintenance operations.
  • Unplug the appliance from the power outlet before filling the tank with water.
  • Never immerse the appliance, the plug and the power cord in water or other liquids.
  • Do not use the appliance if your hands are wet or if you are barefoot.
  • Do not place the appliance near or on damp surfaces (such as a sink).
  • If the appliance is left unused, also for a short period of time, turn it off and al- ways unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while connected to the power supply.

Warning – material damage

  • The appliance shall be used and left at rest on a stable surface.
  • Do not place the appliance on very hot surfaces or near open flames to prevent the coating from being damaged.
  • Fully unwind the power cord before use.
  • Never place objects on top of the tank lid.
  • The danger of breaking the jug glass. Do not pour water or other liquids on the jug glass when it is hot.
  • When filling the tank, do not use sparkling, hot, warm water or any other liquids that could damage the appliance.
  • Never introduce substances other than coffee powder into the filter.
  • Do not operate the appliance dry, without water. The pump could burn out.
  • Use the jug only in combination with the appliance supplied. Do not use the jug on stoves or other heat sources. Do not use the jug in a microwave oven.
  • Handle the jug with care. Do not bump the jug against other objects. Danger of breaking the jug glass. Danger of personal injury from sharp glass.
  • Do not use the jug if the glass or the handle are broken or damaged.
  • Do not place the empty jug on hot, cold or wet surfaces.
  • Do not leave the appliance exposed to weathering (such as rain or sun).
  • After unplugging the appliance and when hot parts have cooled down, only clean the appliance using a damp, non-abrasive cloth and a few drops of mild, non- aggressive detergent. Never use solvents that damage plastic parts.

Danger of damage due to other causes

  • In order to lift the appliance, hold it by the body.
  • Always empty the tank and the jug before moving the appliance.
  • Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet before inserting or removing individual components.
  • Place the appliance on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface.
  • Place the appliance in an environment that is sufficiently lit, and clean and where the a power outlet is easily accessible.
  • Place the appliance at a distance of at least 10 cm from walls, furniture or other appliances.
  • The appliance shall not be used if it has been dropped or if there are visible signs of damage. Do not use the appliance if the power cord or the plug are damaged, or if the appliance is faulty. All repairs, including the power cord replacement, shall be carried out only by an Ariete Service Centre or by Ariete authorized technicians, in order to prevent any risk.
  • For the proper disposal of the product in accordance with the European Direcitive 2012/19/EU, please read the leaflet attached to the product.

BEFORE USE

  1. Remove the packing material and check that all components are present.
    • Check the voltage indicated on the identification plate under the appliance matches the local voltage supply.

  • Fully unwind the power cord.
  • Before using the appliance for the first time, wash the removable parts that come into contact with food.
  • Wash the appliance components. Follow the instructions given in the paragraph “Cleaning and maintenance”

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Cleaning the internal circuits

Before using the appliance for the first time, or after a period of inactivity, carry out a cleaning cycle of the internal circuits.
To clean the internal circuits, remove the coffee filter from the filter holder.

  1. Open the tank lid (A) (Fig. 2).
  2. Fill tank (B) with fresh still water up to the MAX level (Fig. 3). Never exceed the MAX level when filling the tank.
  3. Install the filter holder (J) into its seat (Fig. 4).
  4. Close the tank lid (A) (Fig. 5).
  5. Place the jug (G) on the heating plate (E). Check the dispensing spout (D) is correctly placed on the jug lid (1) (Fig. 6).
  6. Plug the appliance into the power outlet (Fig. 7).
  7. Press the power button (F) (Fig. 8). The operation indicator turns on. The appliance starts dispensing hot water.
    • Wait for all the water contained in the tank to be dispensed into the jug.
  8. Unplug the appliance from the power outlet.
  9. Repeat the operation a second time. Wait for all the water contained in the tank to be dispensed into the jug.
    When the dispensing process is complete, the appliance is ready to use.

How to make coffee

Warning!
Unplug the appliance from the power outlet before filling the tank with water.

  1. Open the tank lid (A) (Fig. 2).
    The water level indicator (C) has a graduated scale, from 4 to 12: each number corresponds to the number of cups of coffee (4 for 4 cups of coffee and 12 for 12 cups of coffee).

  2. Fill the tank (B) with water up to the desired level (Fig. 3)

    • Warning!

    • Do not use the jug if the glass or the handle is broken or damaged. The danger of breaking the jug glass. The danger of personal injury from sharp glass.

    • Never place objects on top of the tank lid

  3. Install the filter holder (J into its seat (Fig. 4).

  4. Insert the coffee filter (K) into the filter holder (J) (Fig. 9).

  5. Measure the coffee into the coffee filter (Fig. 10). One cup of coffee is equivalent to one scoop of coffee powder.

  6. Close the tank lid (A) (Fig. 5).

  7. Place the jug (G) on the heating plate (E). Check the dispensing spout (D) is correctly placed on the jug lid (1) (Fig. 6).

  8. Plug the appliance into the power outlet (Fig. 7).

  9. Press the power button (F) (Fig. 8). The operation indicator turns on. The appliance starts dis- pensing hot water.

    • Warning!
    • The danger of burns. The jug and the body of the appliance might get hot during use. Keep your hands and face away from the hot parts of the appliance.
    • Do not touch the jug and the body of the appliance when the appliance is in use or in the minutes following its shutdown. Wait for the cooling of hot parts.
    • The danger of burns. Do not open the tank lid when the appliance is in use and in the minutes following its shutdown. During the appliance operation, hot steam or hot splashes of water may escape from the jug. Keep your hands and face away from the appliance.
    • If you want to pour coffee into the cup during the dispensing process, remove the jug from the heating plate. The appliance stops the dispensing process for 30 seconds.
    • Do not remove the jug from the heating plate during the dispensing process for more than 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, the appliance resumes dispensing and the coffee starts to flow out of the dispensing spout.
    • Pour the hot coffee into the cup (Fig. 13).
    • Place the jug back on the heating plate.
  10. Wait for the end of the dispensing process (Fig. 11).

  11. Press the power button (F) (Fig. 8). The appliance turns off. The keep-warm function automatically starts.

  12. Grab the handle (H) and remove the jug (G) from the heating plate (E) (Fig. 12).

  13. Pour the hot coffee into the cup (Fig. 13).

Alternatively, leave the jug on the heating plate to keep the coffee warm.

Keep warm function

  • At the end of the dispensing process, the keep warm function automatically starts. The keep-warm function stays active for 30 minutes.

How to reuse the appliance to make more coffee

Warning!

  • The danger of burns. Do not touch the jug and the body of the appliance when the appliance is in use or in the minutes following its shutdown.
  • Do not open the tank lid when the appliance is in use and in the minutes following its shut- down. Wait for the cooling of the hot parts.
  • Remove the coffee filter (K) from the filter holder (J (Fig. 14).
  • Remove the coffee residues from the coffee filter.
  • Follow the procedure described in the paragraph “How to make coffee”

Auto-off function

  • The auto-off function automatically starts after about 40 minutes of the appliance inactivity. This function sets the appliance in standby mode and disables the keep warm function.

USEFUL TIPS TO MAKE A GOOD COFFEE

  • To get a tasty coffee, clean the appliance regularly. Follow the instructions given in the para- graph “Cleaning and maintenance”.
  • Always fill the tank with fresh, clean water.
  • The grinding level affects coffee taste. For a richer and fuller-bodied coffee, choose a fine grinding.
  • Keep the coffee powder in a cool and dry place. Tightly seal open coffee packages and store them in the refrigerator.
  • For an optimal coffee taste, buy coffee beans and grind them before brewing.
  • Reheated coffee doesn’t taste good. The coffee reaches its best taste immediately after brewing.
  • The presence of small drops of oil on the surface of the coffee can be caused by the prolonged use of roasted blends: clean the appliance regularly.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Regular and daily cleaning maintains the appliance efficient and extends the life of the appliance.

  • Danger of electric shock. Never immerse the appliance, the plug and the power cord in water or other liquids.

  • Unplug the appliance from the power outlet and wait for the hot parts to cool down before carrying out any cleaning and maintenance operations.

Warning!

  • Do not use abrasive cleansers or metal tools to avoid scratching and damaging the coating.
  • Never use solvents that damage plastic parts.
  • Never wash the appliance components in the dishwasher.

  • Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet before inserting or removing individual components.

Cleaning the appliance

  • Clean the fixed parts of the appliance using a non-abrasive damp cloth to prevent damaging the coating. Dry using a dry cloth.

Cleaning the coffee filter

  • After each use, remove the coffee filter from the filter holder. Remove the coffee residues from the coffee filter.
  • Wash the coffee filter under running water (Fig. 15).

Cleaning the filter holder

  • Remove the filter holder (J) from its seat (Fig. 16).
  • Periodically clean the filter holder using a sponge or a damp cloth.
Cleaning the jug

Warning!

  • The danger of breaking the jug glass. Do not pour water or other liquids on the jug glass when it is hot.
  • Handle the jug with care. Do not bump the jug against other objects. Danger of breaking the jug glass. Danger of personal injury from sharp glass.
  • Wash the jug in soapy water.
  • Use a brush to remove any coffee residues from the jug lid.
  • Dry using a dry cloth.

Cleaning the tank

  • Periodically clean the tank using a sponge or a damp cloth.

DESCALING

  • Good maintenance and regular cleaning preserve and keep the appliance efficient for a longer period of time, as well as significantly reduce possible limescale deposits in the appliance. Should the appliance operation be compromised after some time, due to frequent use of hard and very calcareous water, carry out the appliance descaling in order to remove the malfunction. Use a citric acid-based descaling product. This product can be easily found at an authorized Service Centre.
  • The Manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage to internal components of the appliance caused by the use of non-compliant products due to the presence of chemical additives.
  • Descale once a month. If the water used is very hard and calcareous, carry out descaling every two weeks.
  1. Fill the jug with a mixture consisting of 1 cup of white vinegar and 3 cups of fresh, clean water.
  2. Pour the mixture into the tank (B).
  3. Start the dispensing process and wait for half the jug to be filled.
  4. Press the power button (F) (Fig. 8). The appliance turns off.
  5. Wait 15 minutes.
  6. Grab the handle (H) and remove the jug (G) from the heating plate (E) (Fig. 12).
  7. Pour the mixture contained in the jug into the tank.
  8. Start another dispensing cycle. Wait for all the water contained in the tank to be dispensed into the jug.
  9. Press the power button (F) (Fig. 8). The appliance turns off.
  10. Wait 15 minutes. Empty the jug.
  11. Fill the tank (B) with fresh still water up to the MAX level (Fig. 3).
  12. Start another dispensing cycle. Wait for all the water contained in the tank to be dispensed into the jug.
  13. Press the power button (F) (Fig. 8). The appliance turns off.
  14. Empty the jug. Wait for the cooling of hot parts.
  15. Wash the appliance components. Follow the instructions given in the paragraph “Cleaning and maintenance”

DECOMMISSIONING

  • In the event of the appliance decommissioning, disconnect the power plug from the power outlet. Should the appliance be disposed of, separate the various materials used in the construction of the appliance and dispose of them according to their composition and the legal provisions in force in the country of use.
