Adjusting the grinding level
The coffee grinding size might differ depending on the desired grinding level.
The grinding level affects coffee taste as well as the quality of the cream.
Try changing this parameter to find the coffee taste you like the most.
The coffee beans container presents a grinding scale from 1 to 8. Higher
numbers indicate a coarser grinding.
Lower numbers indicate a finer grinding. Try making coffee after selecting a
grinding level equal to 3. Then change the grinding level to find the coffee
taste you like the most.
To adjust the grinding level (coarse or fine grinding) push the unlocking
lever (0) of the coffee beans container downwards. Turn the coffee beans
container clockwise is you wish to select a fine grinding, or turn it counter-

the flange (Fig. 16).
If too much ground coffee is put inside the filter, turning the flter holder
may prove ifficult andlor you may get leaks from the fiter holder when the
coffee is being dispensed.
lt is advisable to let the flter holder heat up a few minutes in its seat
before making a cup of coffee so that the first cup is piping hot, to0. This
will not be necessary for the following coffees.

USEFUL TIPS FOR OBTAINING A GOOD ITALIAN ESPRESSO
The grinding level, the quantity of ground coffee, the pressing of coffee into
the filter holder and the time spent extracting water afect coffee taste,
making it more or less strong, as well as the quality of the cream. Try
changing one of these parameters to find the coffee taste you like the most.
When selecting a finer ginding, remember to introduce a larger quantity of
coffee into the filter holder and not to excessively press using the coffee
presser, otherwise coffee might get watery. Conversely, a coarser grinding
requires a smaller quantity of coffee used into the filter holder which should
be more pressed with
the coffee presser.
The ground coffee in the filter holder must be pressed slightly.
Store coffee beans into a closed container, in a cool environment protecting
it from moisture. If possible, vacuum seal coffee. Buy coffee in small
quantities so as to always have it fresh to be ground.
MAINTENANCE OF THE APPLIANCE
Unlocking the coffee grinder
If the coffee grinder gets blocked, the ON/OFF button ( ) will start flashing
at intervals of 1 second each. This might be due to impurities among cofee
beans (such as shells or pebbles) which have caused the grinder to get
blocked.
Remove residual coffee powder from the filter holder.
Press the unlocking lever (0) of the coffee beans container downwards.
Turn the coffee beans container (M) until the symbol on it is aligned with the
symbol on the appliance (Fig. 22).
Impurities having caused the appliance to block wll thus fall into the
compartment for coffee powder.
Place the filter holder under the coffee grinder (Fig. 14). Insert the filter
holder flaps into the specific support under the coffee grinder. Press the
flter holder (F) against the coffee grinder support.
Let ground coffee fall into the filter holder. Throw away the ground coffee to
remove impurities.
Select the proper grinding level.
Now go on preparing coffee.
If the coffee grinder does not restart and remains blocked for 3 times in a
row, the buttons ( ),( ) and ( ) will start flashing rapidly.
In this case, contact the nearest Authorised Assistance Centre.

DESCALING
Good maintenance and regular cleaning preserve and keep the appliance
operating efticiently for a longer period, greatly reducing the risk of scale
formation into the appliance. If despite this, after some time, the appliance
operation should be compromised, due to the constant use of hard and very hard
water, it is possible to carry out the machine descaling operation in order to
eliminate the malfunction. For this purpose, only use a citric acid-based
decalcifying product. The product can be easily found at Technical Assistance
centres.
The Manufacturer does not accept any responsibility for damage to internal
components caused by the use of non-conforming products due to the presence of
chemical aditives. If a descaling is required, observe the directions on the
instruction sheet of the descaling product.
SETTING THE MACHINE OUT OF SERVICE
When setting the appliance out of service, unplug the power cord from the
outlet, empty the water tank as well as the drip tray and clean it (read
paragraph “Cleaning the appliance”).
In case of scrapping it is necessary to provide for the separation of the
various materials used in the construction ot the machine and dispose of them
according to their composition and the proviSIons of law in force in the
country of use.
