General notes on safety

Caution! When using power tools, observe the following basic safety measures for the prevention of electric shocks and the risk of injury and fi re: There is a risk of injury.

General Safety Directions for Power Tools

WARNING! Read all safety notices, instructions, illustrations and technical data that have been provided with this power tool. Omissions in the compliance with safety directions and instructions can cause electrical shock, fi re and/or severe injuries.

Retain all safety directions and instructions for future use.
The term „power tool“ in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool).

Work area safety

  • Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable Liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

  • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
  • When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
  • If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a RCD (Residual Current De-vice) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention white operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
  • Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
  • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
  • If dust extraction and collection devices can be installed, make sure that these are connected and used correctly. Use of dust col-lection can reduce dust-related hazards.
  • Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of security and do not disregard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after using it many times. Careless action can lead to serious injuries within a fraction of a second.

Power tool use and care

  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

  • Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

  • Remove the plug from the wall socket and/or remove the re-chargeable battery before you change the device’s settings, change accessory parts or put away the power tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentaIly.

  • Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

  • Look after the power tool and application tool carefully. Check for misalignment or binding
of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less Likely to bind and are easier to control.

  • Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be per-formed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

  • Keep handles and grip surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grip surfaces do not permit safe operation and control over the power tool in unexpected situations.

Service

  • Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Safety instructions for disc sander

Caution! Risk of injury! Wear personal protective equipment.

Wear safety goggles, hearing protection, a dust mask and gloves.

  • When working under dust-prone conditions, ensure ventilation holes are clear. Disconnect the device from the power supply prior to cleaning.

  • Caution, risk of injury! The sanding disc will continue to run for a short time after switching off the machine.

  • Never make the warning labels on the power tool illegible.

  • Attach the power tool to a solid, fl at and horizontal surface. If the power tool is prone to slipping or wobbling, the bit cannot be guided smoothly and safely.

  • The bit should only be moved against the workpiece when the device is turned on. Otherwise there is a danger of the bit becoming jammed in the workpiece and the workpiece rotating with the bit. This can lead to injuries.

  • Switch the power tool off immediately if the bit jams.
    The bit jams when:

    • The power tool is overloaded;
    • It becomes stuck in the workpiece being machined.
  • Set the correct speed before starting work.

  • After completing your work, do not touch the sanding disc until it has cooled down. The bit be-comes very hot during use.

  • Inspect the cable regularly and have a damaged cable repaired only by an authorised customer service centre. Replace damaged extension cables. This will ensure that the power tool remains safe.

  • Store the power tool safely when not in use. The storage place must be dry and lockable. This prevents the power tool from being damaged as a result of being stored or operated by inexperienced people.

  • Never leave the tool before it has come to a complete stand-still. Bits still in motion can cause injury.

  • Do not use the power tool with a damaged cable. Do not touch the damaged cable and pull the mains plug if the cable is dam-aged while working. Damaged cables increase the risk of electric shock.

    • Avoid abnormal body postures. Ensure secure footing and keep your balance at all times.
    • To avoid hazards, any replacement of the plug or the connection line must al-ways be executed by the manufacturer of the electric tool or their customer service.
    • Water must be kept away from the power tool’s electrical parts and people within the working range.
    • Caution! Never remove any loose splinters, chips or jammed pieces of wood when the sanding disc is still running. Always switch off the machine before repairing any faults or removing jammed pieces of wood – pull the mains plug.
  • If the power tool’s mains connection cable is damaged, it must be replaced with a specially prepared mains connection cable, which is available from the online shop
    (www.grizzlytools.shop).
