Intended use also includes observing and adhering to all the information in these operating instructions. Any other improper use can lead to a significant hazard to people, animals or the environment.

General notes on balcony solar systems
Most PV systems require installation and placing into operation by a qualified electrician. Small devices with a power of 600 W per household are exempted from this rule: Residents may install those by temselves. Conditions apply:

  • According to the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) and VDE, a standard household socket is not suitable for connecting a balcony PV system. An inlet socket, installed by a qualified electrician, is required.
An inlet socket is included with your device.

  • A qualified electrician shall check the power circuit and circuit breakers to ensure the house installation is compatible with the PV system. Registration with your local power supplier is required. Please contact your local supplier for details. Registration with the Federal Network Agency’s market master data
register (Marktstammdatenregister) is mandatory. Please visit https://www.marktstammdatenregister.de/MaStR for details.

General Safety Directions

Caution! When using this system, observe the following basic safety measures for the prevention of electric shocks and the risk of injury and fire. Please read all these instructions before using this electric tool and please keep the safety instructions. Beware! The solar panel, accessories, or tools dropping from height can cause severe injuries or death, or property damage. Restrict access to the installation side. Beware! The solar panel dropping from height can cause severe injuries or death, or property damage. Check the mounting system at least once a year. Ensure all screws are tightened properly and no components show wear and tear.

Warning
This product is a PV-module with integrated electronics. Changes and replacement of any part shall only be performed according manufacturer’ s instruction to avoid hazards.
The inverter is a non-removable product. If you have any problems, please contact after-sales service.

Warning! When the photovoltaic array is exposed to light, it supplies a d. c. voltage to the PCE. The isolation transformer between PV and AC inside the inverter meets the requirements of strengthened insulation.

Installation
Suitable Balconies
Before unpacking, please verify that your balcony is compatible with the included mounting system:
The hand rail itself and its connection to the building is capable and approved to carry the added weight. This must include the wind force. Please check the technical specifications for the maximum suitable wind zone, and verify the local wind zone with your local authorities to verify. The hand rail is round, within a diameter of 45 mm. The banister has vertical or horizontal struts, round, with a diameter within 20 mm. The mounting system is only suitable for installing the panel parallel to the banister itself; no added inclination is allowed. Check your state building code for requirements for the erection of installations. The static system calculation should allow installations up to 7 m above ground.

If the circuit breaker is added at the AC side, the circuit breaker with the rated current of 10A is recommended.

Required Tools

  • A. Torx T27 & T45 Key
  • B. 10 mm & 13 mm spanner wrench

Step 1: Decide installation position

  • The solar panel is suitable for vertical and horizontal mounting. The orientation has no influence on power production. You only need to consider the available space and the desired location of the inverter.
  • If you wish to connect a second panel (sold separately) to the same inverter, please mind the limited length of the connector cables. Choose an orientation and inverter position that allows rinning the cables tension-free.
Choose an inverter position within cable distance to the inlet socket. The manual shows an example of vertical assembly.

Step 2: Attach rail to the balcony

  • Decide on a suitable position for the clamps. Use the clamps (4) to bend a metal sheet (5) carefully around a suitable strut. Do not fold or kink the sheet (5). Attach the clamp units (4) to the banister using the screws in each opposing claw. A large distance between the two clamps is preferrable. Do not tighten yet. Screw the rail guide (7) to the clamp units. The open side of the rail guide must face outside, away from the clamp units. Do not tighten yet. Carefully adjust the position of the clamps to ensure the rail is horizontal. Now, tighten the screws holing the clamp units to the balcony struts, then tighten the screws holding the rail guide.

Step 3: Attach hooks and inverter to solar panel

  • Unpack the carton box. To prevent damage to the solar panel, place it on a soft matt. Do not step on the solar panel. Verify that the contents match the scope of delivery.
  • Attach the hooks to the solar panel, using two short screws (3), and to two nuts (3).
  • Use screw kit (11) to install the inverter on the solar panel as shown in figure F.
  • Alternatively, use screw kit (12) to attach the inverter to the rail (7) as shown in figure G.

Step 4: Place the panel

  • With the help af a second person, hang the solar panel to the hand rail by the mounting hooks.
  • Ensure the inverter’s connectors are accessible. If necessary, adjust the position of the inverter, rail, or solar panel.
  • Once satisfied, use the solar panel clamps to attach the solar panel to the rail (7)
  • Use the long bolt (3) to secure the solar panel to the hand rail. Do not overtighten!

Step 5: Electrical connections

  • Remove the protective caps from one DC input connector pair, guide the cables through the bannister to ensure there is no tension on the cables. Connect the solar panel to the inverter. Fully insert the plugs to ensure the connection is permanently watertight.

  • Remove the protective cap from one AC connector. Connect the matching plug of the AC cable to the inverter. Ensure the plug is locked in position to ensure it is permanently watertight.
Guide the AC cable towards the inlet plug, ensuring there is no strain, no sharp edges, and no other damage hazard for the cable. Insert the plug into the inlet socket. Ensure the plug is locked in position to ensure it is permanently watertight. Congratulations, the installation is complete.

  • The inverter and WLAN module will take a few seconds to boot up. Please follow the respective installation guide on how to access the inverter.
