COMMISSIONING, CHARGING

The device can be operated from its built-in battery after charging. The battery must be charged before first use. Connect the supplied USB cable to the radio, then to a USB  power source and leave the radio switched off. While charging, a red LED illuminates on the back panel.
Remove the charging cable when the LED indicator goes out. The charging time for a fully discharged battery is approximately 5 hours. This provides approximately 22 hours of operation at medium volume. This will depend on the volume setting, the mode selected and the ambient temperature. The test was conducted with radio listening at room temperature. It can be charged during use, but this will increase the charging time.

  • Decreasing volume or distorted sound indicates battery discharge. This may also make it more difficult to tune in stations. Finally, a voice message in English may warn  you that you need to charge.
  • To charge, you can use a mains charger, a mobile phone charger or a computer with a USB port. Charging may occasionally cause noise in the speakers.
  • After charging is complete, remove the charging cable. Heating during charging is a natural phenomenon.
  • You can listen to your device while charging, but this will result in slower charging.
  • Even when not in use, it is recommended to charge the battery every 3 months for a longer battery life. If it runs down during use, charge it immediately, do not store it  with a flat battery.
  • The built-in battery requires no maintenance. Can be replaced by a professional after disassembly of the product. At the end of its life cycle, the device and the battery shall be handled as hazardous waste. Keep the battery out of the reach of children!

SELECTION OF FUNCTIONS

Turn on the device with the VOL knob. The activation mode depends on the position of the AM-FM-MUSIC switch and whether a storage device is inserted (in MUSIC  mode, playback of USB or microSD sources starts). Or whether there is a previously paired BT device nearby in the absence of a storage device (in MUSIC mode, BT  connection is made).
AM: medium wave radio reception, FM: UHF/VHF radio reception, MUSIC: music playback mode In MUSIC mode, press M (MODE) to select the desired function:
BT (wireless BT connection), TF (microSD playback), USB (USB playback), AUX IN: (external, wired audio input)

  • If no USB or microSD or BT signal source is connected, this mode cannot be listened to.
  • It is not recommended to connect a USB and a microSD (TF) device simultaneously.
  • The AUX IN (mono) input must be connected to the desired external device with a 3.5mm plug.

USING THE RADIO
Select FM (or AM) mode with the AM/FM/MUSIC knob. Carefully extend the antenna on the back and adjust it to the best reception direction.
Stations should be accurately tuned in using the centre knob. Use the button to mute and then turn the speakers back on.
The mono reception capability of the radio largely depends on the place of use and the current reception conditions.

  • Do not extend the antenna when listening to the AM band. This will activate the internal antenna of the unit and the unit should be turned in the direction of good  reception.
  • When listening to the FM band, carefully extend the telescopic antenna and adjust it to the best reception direction. The positioning of the equipment can also affect the  quality of reception.
  • Nearby electrical equipment and large metal objects may interfere with reception.
  • If you are listening while charging, there may be occasional mains noise in the speakers. This device is intended for use with battery power.

WIRELESS STEREO BT CONNECTION

Select BT mode with the MODE button and a distinctive beep will sound. The unit can be paired with other units communicating under the BT protocol within a range of  up to 10 metres. You can then listen to music played on your mobile phone, tablet, notebook and similar devices. Place your mobile phone or other similar BT device near the  radio. The device to be paired should locate nearby BT devices, including this one, as described in its operating manual. Connect the two devices together. After  successful pairing, you will hear a short beep. You can then listen to the programme you want on the radio. Start your phone’s music player, which you can usually control  using the radio control buttons ( ). When you receive a phone call, you can briefly press the button to answer it and then press the button to end the call. While the incoming  call is ringing, pressing and holding the same button will reject the call. The radio has a built-in microphone.

  • One radio can be paired with one BT device at a time.
  • In some cases, the music player on the mobile phone may not be controlled by the radio buttons, depending on the features of the mobile phone.
  • An audible alert will be heard if the wireless connection is lost. Depending on the external device, reconnection may have to be done manually by reactivating BT mode.
  • Pressing the BT button briefly interrupts the wireless connection and pressing it again activates the wireless connection.
  • In case of pairing problems, switch BT mode off and on again on the radio and BT on the external device and try again.
  • The volume and sound quality depend largely on the settings of your mobile phone or other device. An installed tone control app can allow you to set the specific sound  you want.
  • The actual range depends on the other device and the environmental conditions.

PLAYING MUSIC STEREO (from USB/microSD device)
Select the USB/microSD mode with the MODE button. The unit will also automatically switch from another “MUSIC” mode to USB or microSD mode when you insert the external storage device. Playback will start automatically. Use the play pause and step buttons to select the desired programme. Press and hold the step buttons to activate  quick search.

  • Do not remove the memory card or USB device during playback, as this may cause corruption of the data and the storage device.
  • Recommended file system: FAT32. Do not use an NTFS formatted memory unit!
  • Abnormal operation may be caused by the specific characteristics of the backup storage; this does not indicate that the device is malfunctioning!
  • Store only playable files on the memory card, as the presence of other types may slow down or prevent playback.

AUDIO INPUT

It is possible to listen to an external device connected to the rear AUX IN input (mono) through this radio in good quality. Connect the supplied 3.5mm audio cable to the  AUX IN jack. If the other device has a different output connector, a converter may be required. Set the volume to the middle position on both devices and start playback on  the external device. Use the MODE button to switch to another signal source and then return to AUX mode again. Use the button to mute and then turn the speakers back  on.

  • The volume and sound quality depend largely on the settings of the external device (computer, mobile phone, etc.). A weak input signal can result in more noise, and too  strong an input signal can result in distorted sound. It is recommended to leave the volume control of the playback device at the middle position.
  • Different signal sources or different modes may result in different volume levels.

AUDIO AUX OUT / HEADPHONE USE
You can connect stereo headphones or headphones to the∅ 3.5mm AUX OUT jack. The speakers will then be muted. You can connect an external amplifier or an active sound box to the same audio output to provide more volume.
BT and USB/microSD signal sources provide stereo sound for both speakers and headphones.

EQ – BASS AND TREBLE
Press the EQ button to achieve a deeper tone, which can be turned off by pressing the button again. This function is not applicable in radio and AUX mode.

CLEANING
Remove the charging cable before cleaning! Use a dry, soft cloth to clean the plastic cover of the device. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents! Do not let liquids get inside the unit or in its connectors.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If a fault is detected, switch the appliance off and unplug it from the charger! Try to reconnect it later. If the problem persists, check to the following list. This guide may help you identify the issue, provided that the appliance is connected properly. Consult a specialist if necessary.

The appliance does not work

  • The radio is not switched on or the correct signal source is not selected.
    – Check the settings of the VOLUME (VOL) and MODE (M) switches.

  • The battery is discharged.
    – Check that the charger is in working order and that the connecting cable is correctly inserted into the unit and the charger.

  • The volume is set to zero.
    – Turn right the VOLUME (VOL) control.

Playback from the desired signal source does not work
BT or USB/microSD storage device is not connected correctly
– Check the pairing of the mobile device and the radio.
– Check the content and functionality of the data storage device with a computer.
– Check that the radio station is correctly tuned in.
– Check that the external device “AUX IN” is in playback mode.
