APPLICATION

This radio allows you to receive several programmes due to the use of the latest technologies. In addition to receiving internet and FM radio stations, it can play contents from mobiles and network content stores through wireless connection. As it has a wired output, it can be connected to the proper inputs of stereo audio equipment. You can listen to it with the use of a stereo headset as well. The integrated speaker provides high quality musical sounds. Its internal battery can be charged with the use of the USB-C charging cable accessory. The network adapter is optional, the recommended traditional types are: e.g. SA 24USB, SA 50USB. The equipment shall be connected to a WiFi network for full operation.
COMMISSIONING
This product can work with smartphones and IT devices. Therefore, this description assumes that the user has a general knowledge of how to use the above devices. The use of the radio is similar to that of computers and mobile phones. Some settings may need deeper knowledge and knowledge of the English language. This description presents the current operation of the equipment, which may change with developments and software updates. In the above case, act reasonably as with a mobile or computer. If needed, contact the manufacturer.
Some functions need services/software/hardware provided by a third party. If these are possibly modified or updated or if an improper version is selected, the available functions and operations may change, which is not an insufficiency of the product. The full operation may be influenced by the type and settings of the connected router, the quality of the Internet / WiFi network, its operating range, the contents broadcast by the provider of music programs, etc. Some special Internet settings may need a specialist if the network environment is not usual.
POWER SUPPLY
The equipment can be operated from an integrated battery, which can be charged with the use of the USB-A / USB-C connection cable accessory (DC IN 5V USB-C socket on the back). Charge it before the first use. You can use an (optional) network charger as charger, or connect it to an (optional) Power Bank or (optional) USB socket.
A red LED is lit on the back during charging. When automatic charging is finished, the LED switches to green colour. If the equipment is turned on, the process of charging can be followed in the upper right corner of the screen as well. At the end of the process remove the charging cable and start to use the equipment. If the battery is fully drained, charging time is approximately 3.5 hours. This provides about 11 hours of operation, at medium volume and medium display light. The above depends on the set volume, the selected operation mode and ambient temperature. The test was performed by listening to the radio, at room temperature. The equipment may be charged during use as well but this increases charging time and causes additional noise.

  • The current charging status is shown in the upper bar of the display. The symbol starts flashing before the battery becomes fully drained. Charge the battery if volume or sound quality decreases.
  • A 5V / 1A USB charger or a traditional USB charger of higher performance should be purchased.
  • Charging is not guaranteed by all QC3.0 or other special quick chargers. If charging does not happen, use another traditional charger.
  • Recommended network charger types: e.g. SA 24USB, SA 50USB

OPERATION

In the lowest submenu, you can clear the complete playlist in order to create a new one.

  • The media server and radio have to connect to the same WiFi network.
  • The directories to be used have to be shared and external access has to be enabled for them.
  • Only files of 16bit/44.1kHz format are supported.
  • Playable file types: MP3, FLAC, AAC, AAC+
  • The source device has to support UPnP protocol and it has to be DLNA compatible. Note that the above devices are available in the market in several versions, and these are not always compatible with one another.
  • The home media server may be provided by a computer, a network hard disc, NAS storage or similar devices. They need proper configuration. This has to be checked in their manuals.
  • You have to check whether the firewall blocks output ports. Minimum requirements for the radio: UDP, TCP port 80, 443, 8008, DNS port 53.
  • If the router and server is not set for DHCP, static IP addresses have to be configured on the radio.
  • The radio has a separate MAC address for wired and wireless Internet connections.
  • The radio supports the following encryption procedures: WEP, WPA, WPA2.
  • The protocols and DLNA compatibility levels of the different devices may considerably vary due to the various current hardware and software versions, which may prevent them from functioning together with the radio. Often the manufacturers of the above devices do not provide precise and up-to-date information on the actual compatibility levels. Therefore smooth interaction among certain devices cannot be guaranteed.
  • The complex IT system and third parties’ various equipment to be connected may result in faulty operation, which is not the insufficiency of the concerned equipment.
  • Access to the connected media server is not guaranteed if it is hindered by external conditions. Several technological and hardware versions are possible.
  • Playing of supported files is not guaranteed in every case either as this can be influenced by software and hardware conditions being independent of the manufacturer.

USING FM RDS RADIO (analog terrestrial broadcasting) Select FM RADIO mode from the main menu. This is the traditional, most common way of broadcasting radio programs. The telescopic antenna at the rear must be pulled out for the reception. With the antenna in the right position and near the window, reception is usually better.
The first time you use it – or if you have not previously stored FM stations – it will ask you if you want to search for radio stations. Press the OK button. The display shows the frequencies checked and the number of programs found.

  • You can also start a new search at any time from the SETTINGS menu.
  • If you have searched for radio stations, you will see a list of them in the order of reception frequency. The ordinal number of the program is shown in the top right corner. Choose one using the method you learned.
  • Use the left arrow to return to the list of stations and select another program. Use the right arrow for more textual information about the program if it is provided by the service provider (FM RDS).
  • The display can also show the clock.
  • The right arrow can be used in the list view to edit the list or delete selected programs.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions!
  • Manual tuning—fine tuning
  • Press and hold OK and the TUNING screen will appear on the bottom right part of the display.
  • Use the buttons to set the desired frequency.
  • To exit, press and hold OK again and the “TUNING” message will disappear.
  • This frequency can be saved to your favorites.
  • In order to work, there must be good quality FM reception in your area. Check the FM broadcasting stations available in your area.
  • If reception is good, the ST (stereo) signal is displayed in the top left corner next to the RDS signal.
  • The search stops when it detects changing signal strength—this does not always mean that a radio program was found.
  • The reception ability of the radio depends to a large extent on where it is used and the current reception conditions.
  • Nearby electrical equipment and large metal objects may interfere with reception.
  • Be careful not to break the antenna!
  • This mode of operation does not require an Internet connection.
  • Remember, if FM reception is weak in your area, you may find the programs you are looking for in Internet radio mode!

WIRELESS BT CONNECTION

The equipment can be paired with other devices communicating according to BT protocol, within an effective range of maximum 10 meters. Following this you can listen to the music played on a mobile phone, tablet, notebook and other similar devices on the radio. Select BT mode in the main menu. Place the device to be paired near it and find the nearby BT devices, also including this radio as described in the instructions for use. Connect the two devices to each other. After the successful connection, the display of the radio shows the access address of the external device and the current operation mode. Following this, you can listen to the desired program through the speaker. The play mode of the device playing the program (e.g. mobile phone) can be usually remote controlled using the buttons of the radio: play/pause: OK, step backward and forward: to disconnect BT connection: press long.

  • If you wish to listen to music from an external music provider, manage this on your mobile device, and make the speaker sound through the BT connection.
  • The radio can be paired with one BT device at a time.
  • After its turning on, it automatically reconnects to the previously paired and properly connected external device if it is near in a turned on state, and the BT mode of the radio is selected.
  • If wireless connection is disconnected, select again the BT mode if necessary and now pairing mode is activated again. If needed, turn off and back the radio or BT mode on your mobile device.
  • If there is an incoming phone call on the connected mobile phone during listening to music, playing of music is suspended.
  • The current effective range depends on the other device and the environmental conditions (e.g. walls, human bodies, other electric devices, movement…)
  • Electric devices functioning nearby may cause abnormal operation, noise, which does not suggest the faulty operation of the device.
  • The individual features of the external devices may cause abnormal operation, this does not suggest the failure of the equipment. In some cases, the BT function may be operated to a limited extent depending on the external device.

SLEEP TIMER
You can fall asleep to music if you set automatic, delayed turning off. You can set the period of delay in the TURN OFF TIMER point of the main menu. It is also accessible directly with the SLEEP button. After the delay (15-180 minutes) expires, the radio turns off. When the function is activated, a symbol and the time remaining until turning off appear in the upper bar of the display.
AUDIO OUTPUT
You can connect a headset or external devices with audio inputs to the 3.5mm stereo headset socket on the back. After the connection the integrated speaker becomes silent. You can listen to contents from the Internet or wireless BT source through external devices as well such as HiFi equipment, amplifier, active sound box…

  • The achievable sound quality depends on the quality of the external device, as well as its volume and tone settings.
  • It is recommended to turn off the tone control of the radio and only use it on the external device.
  • The low outgoing signal from the radio (volume) may cause extra noise, whereas too high a signal may cause distortion.
  • You can control the output signal level in the ADVANCED mode of EQ settings if needed, as well as a 5- band tone control is also available.
  • A connecting cable and external adapter have to be purchased in some cases for proper connection.
  • For further information, please, refer to the instructions for use of the equipment to be connected.

MANAGEMENT OF THE RADIO FROM THE BROWSER (Chrome or Internet Explorer)
Search for radio stations, edit the list of favorites or switch to another program on the computer or via the phone The computer (phone) and the radio have to connect to the same WiFi network.
