CAR RADIO AND MULTIMEDIA PLAYER

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE USE AND RETAIN IT FOR LATER REFERENCE!
WARNINGS

  • Before starting to use the player, read these instructions carefully, then keep them in an accessible place for future reference.
  • Seek professional assistance if necessary to prevent damaging the unit or motor vehicle!
  • The operation of the device may be affected by software and hardware that are independent of the manufacturer.
  • Occasionally, some characters may not display properly or at all. This can mainly affect special or accented characters and is not the fault of the device.
  • The BT range for this product is about 5-10 meters in free space. Under other conditions, this information may change.
  • Depending on the compressed files, the MP3 compression program used, and the quality of the USB/microSD memory, anomalies may occur during playback, which is not due to the unit malfunctioning.
  • The playback of copy-righted DRM files is not guaranteed!
  • It is also possible to connect MP3/MP4/MP5 players using a USB cable but avoid connecting external hard drives this way!
  • Do not store any additional files on the USB/microSD device other than playable files, because they can slow down or interfere with playback.
  • Do not store data storage in the vehicle if it is exposed to freezing or extremely high temperatures!
  • While underway, do not do anything that distracts your attention from driving. Handling the player while driving can result in accidents.
  • Do not listen to the player too loud. Set a volume that allows you to hear external sounds while driving.
  • Extreme volumes can also cause permanent damage to your ears!
  • Do not disassemble or remake the player, as that can cause fire, accidents, or electric shock.
  • Incorrect use or installation renders the warranty void.
  • Only for use in cars with a 12 V battery and a negative ground. Using the player for any other purpose can result in electric shock, damage, or fire.
  • The player was designed exclusively for use in vehicles!
  • Always use melting fuses with the proper values.
  • When replacing a fuse, make sure that the new fuse has the same nominal value as the one you are replacing. Using a different fuse can cause fire or damage. (15 Ampere)
  • Do not block the player’s cooling vents, as that can cause its circuits to overheat, resulting in fire.
  • Install the player properly to ensure adequate ventilation. The air vents around the edge must be left free.
  • Ensure that warm air from the ventilation system of the care is not directed to the opened side of the screen!
  • Make sure to connect the player correctly. Incorrect connections can result in fire or other defaults.
  • Prior to wiring/installation, be sure to remove the car battery’s negative terminal connection! This will prevent any electric shock, short circuit, or malfunction.
  • While installing the player never cut through cables or damage their insulation. Doing so can result in short circuits and fire!
  • Before drilling holes or inserting screws into your vehicle’s body make sure you do not damage tubes or electric wires on the other side of the cover…
  • Do not connect to any electric systems of your vehicle that operate the steering, brakes, or any other safety function.
  • Doing so can result in loss of control over the vehicle, and can cause fire
  • Do not install the player or its accessories in a location where they can prevent you from controlling the vehicle safely, e.g., nearby the steering wheel and the gear shift
  • Make sure that wires do not coil around neighboring objects. Arrange cables and wires in a way that does not hinder you in driving. Wires that interfere with your movement or hang over the gear shift, the brake, etc. can be extremely dangerous.
  • In case of any malfunction, turn off the player immediately, and consult your distributor.
  • Many malfunctions are very easy to detect (e.g., no sound, bad smell, smoke, an external object inside the product, etc.).
  • Make sure that no external objects get into the USB socket or the memory card slot, as these can cause fatal damage Protect it from dust, dampness, liquids, heat, moisture, frost, and impact, as well as direct heat or sunlight!
  • When leading the connection cables make sure that their insulation does not get damaged by any sharp metal objects nearby!
  • Do not connect any cables when the device is working. Never turn on the system with the volume at the maximum level! Cracking or other noise impact occurring at that time can immediately damage the speakers irreparably!
  • The warranty is not applicable to damage caused by irresponsible or improper installation or use!
  • A Somogyi Elektronic Ltd. certifies that this radio equipment conforms to directive No. 2014/53/EU.  Full text of the EU Declaration of Conformity is available on the following address: somogyi@somogyi.hu
  • Due to continuous improvements, the technical data and design may change without any prior notice.
  • We don’t take the responsibility for printing errors that may occur and apologize for them.

PRECAUTIONS

CLEANING
Use a soft, dry cloth and a brush for regular cleaning. To remove stronger stains, wet the cloth slightly with water. Avoid scratching the display’s surface; never wipe the display when it is dry, and do not use a rough cloth to clean the display. Even during gentle wiping, support the screen from the backside! Do not use detergents! Make sure no liquid gets inside the product or onto the connectors

  • Connect the unit’s wiring according to the instructions. Inspect the connectors in the vehicle for suitability according to the wiring instructions in this manual. Make sure that the connections are properly made and free of short circuits. The speaker wiring should be conducted properly!
  • It is prohibited to connect any of the speaker wires to the vehicle’s or battery’s negative terminal/grounding point! (e.g. black power cable or metal point on the vehicle)
  • It is forbidden to connect any of the rights and left channel’s speaker wires.
  • In order to protect the audio system from external noises:
    – Locate the device and lead the cables at least 10 cm far from the car dashboard- cables.
    – Keep the battery power cables as far from any others as you can.
    – Grounding cable should be connected securely to a clean surface of the car chassis, free from paint, dirt, and grease.
    – In case of connecting noise redactor, place it as far as possible from the unit, in case of noise reduction connection.

SPEAKER CONNECTIONS / FAULTY CONNECTION
In some cases, increasing the volume will not proportionally increase the bass level. This is dependent on the number of speakers used and their positioning, moreover, a speaker in the vehicle might also be wired out of phase.
1. When two front speakers are used:

  • Reverse the +/- polarity of either the right or left front speaker (the wires leading to either speaker should be reversed anywhere between the head unit and the speaker).

2. When four speakers are used:

  • A., If both the front and rear speakers, are built into the doors (or otherwise isolated from each other, such as in a sound box), then the polarity of either speaker in both the front and rear should be reversed.
  • B., If the front speakers are built into the doors but the rear speakers are built into the hat rack panel, then only the polarity of either front speaker should be reversed. The rear speakers’ wires should remain unaltered.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE 7” TFT LCD SCREEN

The screen is moved automatically with a motor. DO NOT move it manually! After power-on, it remains hidden until you press the OPEN button or the up arrow button on the remote control. This will ensure that any objects left behind will not cause injury until they are removed. The back of the screen should not come into contact with other objects! Ensure the free movement of the screen! The tilt angle can be adjusted to several positions. The fully opened screen slams slightly behind. Hold the OPEN button for 2 seconds until the screen is vertical and then release. With 2-2 seconds of pushing the button again, you can tilt it slightly forward. If you briefly press the OPEN button, the screen will open completely again, slightly tilting backward. In this position, a short press of the button can fully close it or when it is switched off or when the ignition is removed it will happen automatically. The opening and closing of the screen as well as the tilt angle can be operated with the arrow buttons on the remote control. The screen automatically opens if the rearview camera (option) activates.

  • After switching on, the last screen position will be set.
  • The screen requires careful handling. During movement, do not tap it by hands and do not hinder its free movement of it! Do not push, but only tap the icons on screen, while using it!
  • Protect it from extreme temperature changes, shocks, wet!
  • When the screen is closed, not all functions are available.

RESETTING THE UNIT
If the device is malfunctioning (including its display), it is necessary to delete microprocessor data. To do this, disconnect the power cord completely for one minute and then re-install the appliance. Some basic settings must be set again.
ON- AND OFF SWITCHING
Turn on the unit by pressing PWR/SRC. The front panel display lights up and changes to the last selected function. To open the LCD screen, briefly press the OPEN button or use the remote control.

  • Later on, it will automatically switch to the most recently used function after being switched on unless the external storage device has been removed
    in the meantime.

  • Since starting the engine of a vehicle may cause voltage stoppages, only switch on the unit when the engine is running. Turn it off before turning off
the engine. To switch off, press and hold the PWR/SRC button for 3 seconds. (The short press switches between the sources.)

  • EQ function will cancel the previously set bass and treble equalizer tones.

PHYSIOLOGICAL TONE ADJUSTMENT
The human ear perceives less of low and high-frequency sounds at smaller volumes. By turning the LOUDNESS function on, automatic tone adjustment will
correct this effect at low volume. It is recommended to switch off this function, since it may cause distorted sound.

  • In order to get better sound quality, before using this function it is recommended to choose the EQ OFF setting and set the high/low equalizers to the „0” position.
  • The larger the volume, the less noticeable effect on the automatic tone correction.

MANUAL TUNING AND STORING RADIO STATIONS
Select one of the AM1-AM2-FM1-FM2-FM3 bands with the BND button on the front panel or with the BAND tap button. (recommended: FM1) Tap briefly < >buttons next to frequency display for manual tuning of the radio station. Searchig stops if you find a frequency every tap it steps 0,05 MHz up or down on the band. You can also perform these operations by short or long-pressing the step-search buttons on the front panel. The transmitter can be stored in the desired program position by pressing the number keys 1 … 6 or one of the six frequency buttons in the top line of the screen for 2 seconds. After recording, the button label will be the current frequency Later you can use these buttons or the front panel 1 … 6 buttons to select the desired radio station.

  • A total of 18 FM and 12 AM radio stations can be stored at FM1-FM2-FM3 or AM1-AM2 bands.
  • In every case, 6-6 stations are storable. When storing e.g. you have chosen FM2 band 4. place for one station, then later you have to choose FM2 (BAND) and a button
  • You can also use these shortcuts or shortcuts to navigate through these shortcuts.

AUTOMATIC TUNING AND STORING
Tap the A button on the screen to automatically locate and store radio stations that can be received in the place of use. On the display the progress of tuning and storing is trackable. Each receivable frequency is checked on the FM1-FM2-FM3 or AM1-AM2 band. The better the conditions for reception, the more stations will be found. You can start automatic tuning and store by holding down the “magnifying glass” search button on the front panel. By pressing the same button briefly, it automatically introduces shortly the stations are fixed already.

  • After the tuning has finished, a few seconds of broadcasting will be audible from each stored radio station. The device steps alongside even the possibly empty storage and stops at the first fixed radio station. The introduction function can be switched off by tapping any of the storage buttons.
  • Take into consideration that unit will skip stations with weaker reception, and the stations may be stored in a different sequence than what you have defined.
  • Select manual tuning and storing in order to perform custom settings.
  • The „magnifying glass” button on the front panel – by a short pressing – shows a few seconds of every fixed station. Tapping the same button or tapping the radio program you can turn off stepping..
  • If a memory location is already occupied, its contents will be deleted and the new station frequency will be stored.
  • In the case of receivers of suitable quality, an ST text symbol appears on the screen and the STEREO (double circle) symbol lights up. If reception is noisy due to poor reception conditions, select MONO by tapping the STEREO icon on the bottom line. The ST text and the STEREO symbol go off.
  • In case of low reception conditions, turn off the LOC (local, strong reception) function by tapping the DX / LOC (distance, local reception) button. Reception may be weaker nearby high buildings or electrical equipment.
  • If you use the device at a distance further from the location of the tuning – eg. when traveling – you may have to search for the same radio station again at another frequency. In different geographic areas broadcasts the same programs at different frequencies! This inconvenience can be avoided if the listened station has an RDS function and you turn on the RDS AF (alternative frequency) feature on your device. For details, refer to the RDS functions below.

SELECTION OF STORED RADIO STATIONS
With BAND (or on the front panel the BND) button select the desired band (pl. FM1), then by tapping 1-6 storage number buttons choose the desired track. Altogether 18 FM and 12 AM radio stations are memorizable. At the touchscreen’s top line, the storage buttons contain the frequencies which are stored already.
FM RDS FUNCTIONS
The Radio Data System is used to transmit digital information during FM radio broadcasts. This textual information will be displayed on radio displays if the broadcasting station and the receiver unit have this RDS function and it has been activated. Such information includes for example the name of the radio station, the program type, etc., which varies depending on the station and radio. Apart from the display of textual information extra services are also generally available. They include the following in case of this radio:

  • PS – program service: displays the radio station’s brief name. Operates continuously as a basic RDS function.
  • AF – alternate frequency: if the current station can be received on another frequency in better quality, the unit automatically switches over to that frequency; this is useful when traveling because the unit searches for a station broadcasting the same program with a stronger signal
  • TP – Radio stations displaying TP marking, regularly broadcast traffic information. Operates continuously as basic RDS function.
  • TA – the active TA function allows traffic and road information announcements to be heard. When an announcement is received the text TRAFFIC will appear on the display. If music or a movie is being played back from a USB/microSD or Bluetooth source, it will pause during the announcement then playback will continue.
  • PTY – program type: radio station identification according to the predefined genre. It is possible to search for broadcast with specific content, for example news, classical music, pop music…
  • EON –device continuously monitors other networks for traffic information. (currently unavailable for this device)

SWITCHING ON AND OFF FM RDS FUNCTIONS
The PS and TP services will always work when the radio station provides this. Other RDS functions can be switched on or off individually with the remote control’s AF, TA, PTY buttons. Indications of currently active functions are visible on the display.
Occasionally, you may find that certain characters appear incorrectly or not at all. This is mainly affected on the special or accented characters and not the fault of the device.

PLAYBACK – FROM USB/MICROSD STORAGE
If you wish to listen to music from a USB/MicroSD/TF source instead of listening to the radio, simply connect to the external storage. The unit will detect this and start playback automatically. The file name, track number, total time and elapsed time of song, the total number of tracks, name of artist, and title of the song will appear on the display. Information connecting to the track can be displayed only when played file includes them. In addition play mode: repeated, random, or repeating all tracks or repeating current track is visible on the screen as well. The desired feature can be set with the two touch buttons on the right edge of the bottom line.In this line, the first button displays the playlist, which you can switch to any song by tapping it twice.

  •  playback or pause
  • Press the buttons briefly to reach the previous or next track or keep holding them for a quick search
  • The recommended file system of memory is: FAT32. Do not use a memory unit with NTFS format!
  •  If the unit does not emit sound or the USB / MicroSD/TF memory is not recognized, remove and reinsert the memory. If this is ineffective, try to choose the source with the MODE button. If necessary, turn off and back on and ultimately push the reset button under the cover!
  • If the unit cannot recognize the files or one part of them, copied on the external storage, then proceed as described in the previous paragraph, or you can insert the USB unit to the device which is already switched on; at that time the system will read in and update the entire content of it.
  • Remove the storage only, when you switched to a source different from USB/MicroSD/TF memory or the device has switched off! Otherwise the data can get injured.
  • It is forbidden to remove the connected external storage during playback!
  • By inserting the memory unit, playback will start from the first track. If you have listened to it previously, and it hasn’t been removed, then the playback will continue from the last played track, even if the device has been switched off in the meantime…
  •  USB units can be pulled out simply, microSD/TF cards can be removed after pushing them in. This latter one should be pushed firmly when inserting. In case of proper connection, the card doesn’t extend from the device (behind the front panel).
  • USB and MicroSD units can be inserted only in one way. If it would get stuck, turn it over and try again, do not force!
  • Pay attention to the storage, extending from the device not to disturb you in safe driving, and do not shove or break it! It is recommended to use a microSD card preferably since it can be used more safely.
  • If you leave the external storage in the vehicle in extreme hot or cold, it can get injured.
  •  Unique features of the external storage can cause abnormal operation, this is not a malfunction of the unit!
  • Occasionally, you may find that certain characters appear incorrectly or not at all. This is mainly affected on the special or accented characters and not the fault of the device.

PHOTO AND VIDEO DISPLAY FROM USB/MICROSD STORAGE

USING CAR STEERING-WHEEL REMOTE CONTROL
The car radio is ready for operation with the most common, factory built-in steering wheel remote control. Radio can be controlled with steering wheel remote in such vehicles, where the control is based on function-assignment defined by specific resistance values, connecting to the negative potential through different resistors. Check the suitability of your vehicle at the distributor.

  • In case of the vehicle’s suitability, you can teach the desired functions to operate along with the buttons in the SETTINGS menu’s last but one option.
  • Teaching the SWC steering-wheel remote control: tap one of the control buttons on the tap screen, then hold pressed on the wheel the button, which you want to pair this function with. If it is successful, a message appears on the screen. Continue to teach the other buttons and confirm the settings with the confirming button at the end. If a problem occurs, contact a specialist.
