ROUGHING-IN
IMPORTANT!
Before installing this sink, verify the opening height is at least 10″ from
the top of the cabinet to the top of the doors.
IMPORTANT! Before beginning
this installation, refer to the “Roughing In” section for cabinet dimensional
requirements.
IMPORTANT! For undermount only, this sink must be installed prior to the
installation of the countertop. Cut-line is based from the back of the
cabinet.
IMPORTANT! Long screws may damage adjacent cabinets. Ensure the screws
are long enough to secure the support framing, but short enough not to extend
through the inner walls of the adjacent cabinets.
TIPS: Due to the nature of under counter installations, Moen recommends
that under counter sink installations be performed by trained and experienced
installers.
Use proper fasteners and techniques to ensure that the frame will support a
minimum of 300lbs (136 kg). Locate the fasteners for easy access in the event
the sink needs to be removed.
Plan the sink installation so future removal from underneath the countertop is
possible without damaging the countertop. For ease of installation, install
the strainer assemblies to the sink prior to installing the sink. Anchors and
fasteners to be provided and installed by the countertop manufacturer. Observe
all local plumbing and building codes.
NOTES: Your countertop must be flat.
Your countertop thickness cannot exceed 1-1/2” (38 mm).
Your countertop cannot overhang the cabinet face more than 1-1/2” (38 mm).
Your countertop must be fully supported by the cabinet or with added supports.
Countertop to be installed per manufacturer’s installation instructions.
DROP-IN SINK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove the false drawer front from your cabinet. Ensure not to damage the cabinet front.
- Apply painter’s tape to the cabinet front to help prevent damage when cutting the drawer. Carefully cut away the top rail center support. Depending on countertop material thickness installed, the cabinet may need to be cut, so the sink apron bottom front rests flush with the cabinet. Consult your countertop manufacturer.
TRACE THE TEMPLATE
Cut out the paper template along the top mount marked line. Cut out the diamond on the template as this will help line up the centerline. This should be in the center of the diamond. Place painter’s tape to all exposed outside edges prior to securing the template into place. (This will help prevent chipping when cutting). Place template on countertop. Align template with the lines marked on painter’s tape over the pre-existing hole. Tape template into place. Trace template on the applied painter’s tape. Trace the notches at the front of template. Remove template. Place painter’s tape to the countertop front to also prevent chipping when cutting. Extend marked lines down the countertop front onto painter’s tape.
CUT COUNTERTOP
IMPORTANT! Avoid damage to
cabinet surfaces by cutting the countertop in order of following steps.
Note: If the existing sink hole is set back closer to the backsplash, you
will need to adjust the depth of the notch. This will allow the sink to slide
back further to ensure a tight fit.
TIP: Prevent chipping to countertop by applying painter’s tape to
countertop edges before cutting.
Ensure equipment/tools are in good working order and blades are sharp for cutting during overall installation.
-
Using the appropriate saw blade (according to countertop material), cut the countertop along the inside marked line.
-
Carefully cut away from cutout to end of the marked line. Ensure not to damage cabinet face. Repeat this step on other side.
-
Carefully cut the marked notch out, cut in from the edge of the countertop and intersect it with the marked notch. Ensure not to damage cabinet face. Repeat this step on the other side.
TIP: Use sand paper to smooth any cut edges (for applicable surfaces).
Lower the sink carefully into the countertop opening to ensure it fits. Don’t force it as the fit will be tight. If the opening is too small, recheck the dimensions. -
CRITICAL – Spread generous amount of waterproof wood glue or preferred sealant (based on countertop material) on both notches to seal the newly exposed countertop portion. This will help to make area water resistant. Wipe away any excess glue/sealant. Allow enough time to completely dry. Go to Step 13 to finish any faucet, drain fittings, sink accessory installation items.
- 5A. Clean countertop and sink rim thoroughly.
- Apply a bead of caulk 1/8”-1/4” away from edge of counter cutout and then align sink on counter. Caulk not included. Consult your professional installer. Sealants may vary.
- Center sink within counter opening. Apply even pressure to all sides. Wipe away any excess caulk on counter.
INSTALL THE CLIPS
NOTE: Screws are designed to insert into the channel fasteners with backward threading, so that when mounting, they will turn in a counter- clockwise direction.
- A. Place U channel fasteners in the position as shown, equally spaced with one at each end of the channel bar.
- B. Hand tighten each fastener onto the channel so that the fasteners claw under the top edge, as shown, starting from the middle working toward the sides. Caution: Improper tightening of channel fasteners could result in improper installation or cause damage to sink.
- C. Re-check position of sink on countertop.
- D. Tighten all channel fasteners an additional quarter turn with a flathead screwdriver.
IMPORTANT! DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
Tighten installation screws as shown from under the sink, with a flathead screw-driver. Go to step 13 to finish any faucet, drain fittings, sink accessory installation items.
UNDERMOUNT SINK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove the false drawer front from your cabinet. Ensure not to damage the cabinet front.
- Apply painter’s tape to the cabinet front to help prevent damage when cutting the drawer. Carefully cut away the top rail center support.

Determine location for mounting brackets; space evenly around the underside. Mounting holes should be close to 90 degrees out from the edge of the sink ledge.
Turn countertop upside down and align the bowl to countertop cutout. Drill 13/32″ (10.4mm) size hole in position of hardware. Consult your countertop manufacturer for proper fastener installation.
Type of fasteners to be as recommended by countertop supplier.
Clean underside of countertop and top rim of sink thoroughly.
Apply a bead of caulk 1/8”-1/4” away from edge of counter cutout and then align sink on counter. Caulk not included. Consult your professional installer. Sealants may vary.
SECURE THE SINK
Install the clips to the countertop, ensure each clip engages the rim. (Minimum 4 clips in back, 3 clips per side). Tighten evenly.
Tighten brackets evenly. Do not overtighten.
Turn countertop and sink attached right side up. Complete counter installation and wipe away any excess caulk from sink rim.
FOR UNDERMOUNT & DROP-IN
Install Drain Fitting into sink basin for non-disposal usage.
FOR UNDERMOUNT & DROP-IN
Install Sink Grid into sink basin. Sink accessory install complete.
Stainless Steel Sink Cleaning Recommendations: If maintained properly, your Moen® stainless steel kitchen sink will not chip, peel, rust or discolor. The following chart illustrates our recommendations for maintaining the original appearance of your new Moen® stainless steel kitchen sink.
Situation| Cleaning Recommendation
Routine Cleaning:| Soap, detergent and water. Rub with a sponge or cloth
followed by a thorough rinsing, then dry.
Smears and fingerprints:| Use window or glass cleaner. Rub with a cloth.
Persistent spots and stains:| Stainless steel cleaner. Apply with a
sponge or cloth. Rub back and forth in direction of grain lines. Rinse with
clean water and dry. NOTE: Not for mirror finishes.
Hard water spots and scale:| Vinegar (full strength). Swab and soak for
5-10 minutes. Rub, then rinse with a neutralizer such as baking soda solution.
Rinse with clean water and dry.
“Rusty” discoloration and atmospheric stains:| Use any of the
cleaning agents listed above. Swab with a cloth and soak for 5 minutes. If
necessary, rub with a nylon pad. Rinse with clean water and dry.
What not to use:| Do not use steel wool pads. This can cause rust or
pitting of the sink surface.
In addition to the above cleaning recommendations, we suggest you try to avoid
leaving rubber mats, wet sponges, cloths and cleaning pads to sit in the sink
or liquid soap to dry on the surface. Food particles and deposits can cause
discoloration. Many detergents contain chemicals that can dull the finish,
cause pitting or staining. Avoid using bleach – even diluted this can cause
corrosion if left for extended periods of time. If bleach comes in contact
with your sink, rinse thoroughly. Hard water or water with high iron content
may cause a brown, rust-like stain. Water with a high concentration of
minerals or over-softened water may cause a white film. If either condition
exists, dry the sink with a soft towel after each use.
