Introduction

  • We are pleased you decided in favour of this electric knife and would like to thank you for your confidence. Its easy operation and wide range of applications will certainly fill you with enthusiasm as well. To make sure you can enjoy using this appliance for a long time, please read through the following notes carefully and observe them. Keep this instruction manual safely. Hand out all documents to third persons when passing on the appliance. Thank you.

Intended use

  • The appliance is designed for cutting and slicing poultry, sausage, cheese, meat, fruit, vegetables, bread, cakes, gateaus, ice tortes, cakes etc. and is meant for domestic use only (in the kitchen, at table, in office, etc.). Other uses or modifications of the appliance are not intended and harbour considerable risks. For damage arising from not intended use, the manufacturer does not assume liability. The appliance is not designed for commercial use.

Technical data

  • Only connect the appliance to an isolated ground receptacle installed according to regulations.
  • The rated voltage must comply with the details on the rating label. Only connect to alternating current.
  • Nominal voltage: 220-240 V~ 50 Hz
  • Nominal power: ca. 120 W
  • Max. continuous operation time: 5 cycles (2 minutes operation – 1 minute pause). Allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature after 5 cycles
  • Protection class: II
  • Standby-consumption: < 0.5 W

Scope of supply

  • Check the scope of supply for completeness as well as the soundness of the product and all components (see product description page 2) immediately after unpacking.

Packing material

  • Do not simply throw the packing material away but recycle it.
  • Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard packing to collecting facilities.
  • Also put plastic packing material and foils into the intended collecting basins.
  • In the examples for the plastic marking: PE stands for polyethylene, the code figure 02 for PE-HD, 04 for PE-LD, PP for polypropylene, PS for polystyrene.

Disposal/recycling

  • According to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, this product must not be disposed of with your normal domestic waste at the end of its life-span. Therefore, please deliver it at no charge to your appropriately licensed local collecting facilities (e.g. recycling yard) concerned with the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Please approach your local authorities for how to dispose of the product.

For your safety

Warning: Read all safety advices and instructions! Non-observance of the safety advices and instructions may cause electric shock, fire and/or bad injuries!

General safety advices
  • Always keep children away from the product and the power cord.
  • This appliance must not be used by children.
  • Persons not having the knowledge or experience in operating the appliance or having handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate the appliance without supervision or instruction by a person, responsible for their safety. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
  • Children should be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Packing material like e.g. foil bags should be kept away from children.
  • Prior to each use, check the appliance and the accessories for soundness, it must not be operated if it has been dropped or shows visible damage. In these cases, the power supply must be disconnected and the appliance has to be checked by a specialist.
  • When laying the power cord, make sure that no one can get entangled or stumble over it in order to avoid that the appliance is pulled down accidentally.
  • Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces, sharp edges and mechanical forces. Check the power cord regularly for damage and deteriorations. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of an electric shock.
  • Do not misuse the power cord for unplugging the appliance!
  • Never immerse the appliance, power cord and power plug in water for cleaning.
  • Do not store the appliance outside or in wet rooms.
  • This electrical appliance complies with the relevant safety standards. In case of signs of damage to the appliance or the power cord, unplug the appliance immediately. Repairs may be affected by authorised specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user.
  • Improper use and disregard of the instruction manual void all warranty claims.
  • Safety advices on the usage of the appliance

WARNING: Hazard of injury!

  • During operation never touch the running blades!
  • Handle cutting tools with care to avoid injuries!
  • Do not operate the appliance in the vicinity of sources of heat (oven, gas flame etc.) or in explosive environments, where inflammable liquids or gases are located.
  • Avoid any no-load operation and do not handle it with hands wet!
  • Work with the appliance on a stable and even cutting board. Do not cut on surfaces made of metal or enamel.
  • Do not cut bones and deep-frozen food with this electric knife.
  • The blades with fine teeth are not suitable to slice or cut frozen food.
  • Be careful when cutting hot food. Hazard of burns!
  • Put down the appliance only with the sharp edges of the blades facing downwards.
  • Place it beyond children’s reach.
  • During operation never play with objects near/at the appliance and never touch the running attachments. To avoid injuries it is imperative to keep away your hair, hands and clothes from the attachments.
  • The appliance keeps shortly running after switching off – therefore, do not take the attachments out before they have stopped.
  • Unplug the appliance when not in use, prior to disassembly or assembly and before cleaning!
  • Only use the original blades.
  • Pull the power plug after each use for safe switch-off.

Prior to initial use

For a start, please clean the appliance as well as all attachments. For more detailed information please refer to “Cleaning and maintenance”.

Operating the appliance

Attention! Hazard of injury!

  • Do not touch the sharp edges of the blades!
  • Handle cutting tools with care to avoid injuries!
  • The appliance is designed for a max. operating time of 5 cycles (2 minutes operation – 1 minute pause). Allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature after 5 cycles. If this is not observed, the motor might be damaged!

How to disassemble the blades

  • Always grasp the blades at their finger protection!
  • Remove the covers.
  • Slide the blades against each other until the rivet slides out of the key hole.

  • Put the tips of both blades together and insert the rivet of one blade into the key hole of the other blade.

Slip the cover over.

  • Note : The way of disassembling and assembling the blades is identical for both sets of blades.

Preparing the appliance for use

  • Unplug the knife from the mains!
  • Only insert the blades when the appliance is not running!
  • Grasp the assembled blade set at its finger protection with the sharp edge facing downwards. Insert the blades into the slot at the front of the unit until they snap into place.
  • You will hear a clear “click” when both blades engage. Pay attention that both blades snap into place.

Remove the cover.

  • Switching the appliance on or off Before connecting the mains plug with a power socket please ensure that the ON button is not pushed by mistake!
  • To start the appliance please press the ON button.
  • Hold the ON button during operation.
  • Release the ON button for switching off.
  • Note : After the cutting is finished always pull the mains plug out of the power socket!

Removing the blades

  • Switch the appliance off and disconnect the mains plug from the power socket!
  • Do not push ON button at the same time!
  • Press the release button.
  • Afterward grasp the blades at their finger protection and pull them out of the appliance.
  • Please take care that the sharp edges of the blades are always facing downwards.

Note: After cleaning of the blades please store them in their blade covers.

Tips for cutting

  • Cutting with normal-food blades
  • Position the blades on the food to be cut and draw them through it with light pressure.

Cutting with frozen-food blades

  • Position the blades on the food to be cut and draw them through with slight pressure and slight sawing movements. Foods can be cut effortlessly when it is slightly thawed.

Cutting meat

  • When cutting meat like steaks, smoked pork chop, cutlets, joints or ham please observe: Only cut down to the bones, afterwards remove the meat slice by slice from the bone using the tip of the blade. By doing diagonal cuts you may get bigger slices of e. g. steaks. Cut roasts always across the fibre. Smaller pieces of roast should be sliced up diagonally to get larger slices.

Cutting poultry

  • During the carving process cut down to the bones, then use poultry shears.

Cutting sausages

  • Sausages, pastries, meat loafs and aspic may be sliced up easily as of a thickness of 4 mm.

Cutting cheese

  • All kinds of cheese can be sliced up well, as of a thickness of approximately 4 mm. Only very hard cheese cannot be cut up. Very soft cheese may smear.

Cutting fruits, vegetables and salad

  • Juicy fruits as well as cucumbers, onions, lettuce leafs, tomatoes etc. can be cut without being squeezed and without loosing much juice.

Cutting bread, cakes and gateaus

  • Especially soft sorts can be cut, which otherwise would be mashed easily. Bread or sandwiches may be divided
    without squeezing the filling. For gateaus it is important that the knife is switched on before positioning the blades, because the upper layer might shift due to the start-up vibrations.

Cutting ice cream and ice tarts

  • Ice cream out of family-sized packs as well as ice tarts can be cut easily.

Cutting frozen food

  • Before cutting frozen food, please defrost the food for a few minutes. Position the frozen-food blades on the food to be cut and draw them through with slight pressure and slight sawing movements. Foods can be cut effortlessly when it is slightly thawed.

Cleaning and maintenance

ATTENTION: Hazard of injury!

  • Always unplug the mains plug before cleaning the appliance!

  • Never immerse base unit and mains plug in water or clean them under running water!

  • Do not touch the sharp edges of the blade!

  • Handle blades with care to avoid injuries!

  • Clean immediately after use to prevent residuals from drying up.

  • Strongly colouring food (e.g. carrots) may colour the plastic parts of the casing and the accessories.

  • Wipe these parts with a few drops of edible oil before cleaning them.

  • Remove detachable parts from the base unit.

  • Clean base unit with a damp cloth and wipe dry afterwards.

  • Wash the blades in hot, soapy water using a cleaning brush or put them in the dishwasher.

  • When using a dishwasher please place the blades with care so that the plastic rinsing baskets are not damaged.

  • After cleaning and drying please assemble the blade sets.

  • Store the blade sets for your own safety in their blade covers!

  • Use no abrasives or solvents for cleaning the appliance!

  • Do not treat it with a steam jet appliance!
