To make sure you can enjoy using your cooking plate for a long time, please read through the following notes carefully and observe them. Keep this instruction manual safe. Hand out all documents to third persons when passing on the appliance. Thank you very much.
Intended use
This appliance is a cooking plate for preparing food (domestic use only). Other uses or modifications of the appliance are not intended and harbor considerable risks. For damage arising from not intended use, the manufacturer does not assume liability. The appliance is not designed for commercial use.

Only connect the appliance to an isolated ground receptacle installed according to regulations. The rated voltage must comply with the details on the rating label. Only connect to alternating current!
The models THS 2591 and THS 3091 are equipped with a cover, which can be detached for cleaning. The models THS 2015 and THS 2590 can be refitted with a cover. In case of demand please contact your local dealer.

Packing material
Do not simply throw the packing material away but recycle it. Deliver paper, cardboard, and corrugated cardboard packing to collecting facilities. Also, put plastic packing material and foils into the intended collecting basins.

WARNING: Read all safety advice and instructions. Non­ observance of the safety advice and instructions may cause electric shock, fire, and/or bad injuries!

General safety advice

  • Always keep children under 8 away from the product and the power cord.

  • Children from the age of 8 must be supervised when cleaning or maintaining the appliance.

  • Children from the age of 8 and persons not having the knowledge or experience in operating the appliance or having handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate the appliance without supervision or instruction by a person, responsible for their safety. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.

  • Children should be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  • Packing material like e. g. foil bags should be kept away from children.

  • Do not operate this unit with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.

  • Prior to each use, check the appliance and the attachments for soundness, it must not be operated if it has been dropped or shows visible damage. In these cases, the power supply must be disconnected and the appliance has to be checked by a specialist.

  • When laying the power cord, make sure that no one can get entangled or stumble over it in order to avoid that the appliance being pulled down accidentally.

  • Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces, sharp edges, and mechanical forces. Check the power cord regularly for damage and deterioration.
    Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of an electric shock.

  • Do not misuse the power cord for unplugging the appliance!

  • Never immerse the appliance, power cord, and power plug in water for cleaning.

  • Do not store the appliance outside or in wet rooms.

  • This electrical appliance complies with the relevant safety standards. In case of signs of damage to the appliance or the power cord, unplug the appliance immediately. Repairs may be affected by authorized specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user.

  • Improper use and disregard of the instruction manual void all warranty claims.

Safety advise for using the appliance
WARNING: Hazard of injury and burns!
The casing and heating plate are getting hot during use and firstly stay hot after switch-off!

Thus, work with caution:

  • We recommend using pot cloths and appropriate cooking cutlery!

  • Do not use the appliance’s upper side as a depositing rack or working top as it will get hot when operating the appliance! As protection against fire, do generally not put objects made of paper, plastic, fabric, or other inflammable material on hot surfaces!

  • Only use suitable pots or pans with sound, even bottom, and appropriate diameter (also fire-proof glass or chinaware). If the pot bottom is uneven or too small, you will waste energy. The heating plate and the pot bottom must always be clean and dry.

  • Do not use cooking vessels made of plastic, inferior enamel, porcelain ·or aluminum foil.

  • Attention! Hazard of fire! Fat and oil can ignite when overheated.
    Therefore, food containing fat and oil must be prepared under supervision only.

  • Never splash cold water on the hot heating plate!

  • Appliance and accessories must have cooled completely before cleaning or moving them!

  • Some models are equipped with a cover, which can be detached for cleaning. Mind to shut this cover only when the unit is switched off and the heating plates have cooled completely.

  • Observe the following when setting up the appliance:
    o Place the appliance on a heat-resistant, stable, and even surface (no varnished surfaces, no table cloths, etc.).
    o Place it beyond children’s reach.
    o Leave a sufficient ventilation distance to all sides of the appliance to avoid damage by heat or fat splatters and to grant an unobstructed area. Unhindered air supply has to be ensured.
    o Do not operate the appliance in the vicinity of sources of heat (oven, gas flame, etc.) or in explosive environments, where inflammable liquid or gases are located.
    Attention! Hazard of fire! This appliance is not qualified for the installation.

  • Do not use the appliance as a space heater.

  • For a safe switch-off pull the mains plug.

Operating the appliance

  • Prior to initial use, heat each heating plate without pot for approx. 5 minutes at maximum setting.
    Thereby, the plate coating gets its optimal protection effect. Please do not be bothered by the slight formation of harmless smoke occurring for a short time.

  • Only use pots and pans with appropriate diameters. If the pot bottom is uneven or too small, energy will be wasted.

  • The temperature is power-controlled through a 7l-step switch. Depending on the chosen setting, the plate heats up with the corresponding power and maintains this temperature.

  • The pilot lamp glows as long as the heating plate is switched on.

  • The models THS 815 and THS 2015 are equipped with a 15-minute timer and have a reduced power of 800 / 1200 W respectively. This meets especially high safety requirements, e.g. in old people’s homes. When the pre-set time has passed, the timer turns off the appliance automatically. The time set before can always be changed even during operation by moving the timer clockwise or anti-clockwise.

  • Turn off your appliance in time and use the energy stored in the heating plate for keeping your food warm.

Cleaning and maintenance

Always unplug the appliance before cleaning and let it cool down. Never immerse the unit, power cord, or plug in the water!

  • Clean the appliance with a damp cloth and detergent, do not use abrasives and steel wool.
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water and make sure no steam may infiltrate.
  • Always keep heating plates dry since dampness and steam will result in rust formation.
  • Do not use any abrasives and solvents or sharp objects!
  • Never use a steam jet appliance for cleaning!

User information – Saving energy and resources
Tips for energy saving:

  • Both, cooking zone and pot bottom must be clean and free of residues, in order to guarantee the best possible heat transfer.
  • Always place the cookware in the cooking zone before switching the appliance on.
  • Position the cookware in the middle of the cooking zone.
  • The bottom of the cookware and the cooking zone should be about the same size.
  • Using cookware with a too-small diameter will waste energy.
  • When heating water, only heat the amount you actually require.
  • During cooking, it is recommended to cover the cookware with a lid, if possible.
  • Switch off the cooking zone in time and use the residual heat for keeping warm, melting, etc.
