Interesting facts
- The taste of beverages containing coffee depends on the quality of the used coffee or espresso beans. A requirement for the aromatic preparation of beverages with coffee is the perfect grinding of the roasted beans as this is increasing the surface for contact with water and thus, the release of flavors. The degree of grinding also determines the pressure in the brewing chamber or the throughput time in a coffee filter machine.
- After a few minutes already, the ground powder is losing more than 50 % of its flavor. Therefore, coffee specialists recommend storing whole coffee beans and only grinding the quantity just needed.
Prior to initial use
ATTENTION: Remove possibly fixed protective foils, promotional material, and
packaging material from appliances and accessories!
- Clean the appliance as well as all accessory parts according to the cleaning notes in this manual (see “cleaning and maintenance“, page 26).
- The appliance is equipped with touch control sensors. The sensor keys can be operated easily and very conveniently. Tapping the sensor keys activates the respective function.
- The appliance is equipped with an antistatic function. The air in the powder outlet channel is ionized by an ion generator, which significantly reduces the static charge. This function serves to ensure that no powder sticks to the container, outlet channel or measuring spoon.
- The machine is equipped with a high-quality conical burr grinder. This allows whole beans to be ground in a particularly aroma-friendly manner.
- To protect against damage caused by foreign bodies (e.g. small stones) in the coffee beans, the grinder is equipped with electronic overload protection. If the grinder blois blocked, the grinding process is automatically stopped and the error message “E2” appears in the display. Remove the grinding plunger (see page 21) and remove the blockage in the grinding mechanism, then you can use the appliance again.
- The appliance is equipped with an energy-saving standby function which is activated after connecting the appliance to the mains. 2 minutes after the last operation (grinding, pressing a key), the unit automatically switches back to standby mode.
- By pressing the ON/START/STOP key, the appliance changes back to the operation mode. Seal on the powder outlet channel
- The appliance is equipped with a separate sealing on the powder outlet channel which provides a seal between the powder outlet channel and the powder container. Thus, no powder is lost during grinding.
Assembling and disassembling the appliance
Mounting/dismounting the beans container
- Place the beans container on the base unit
- When mounting the beans container, pay attention that the symbol “lock“ on the base unit complies with the marking on the beans container.

- Pull the mains plug out of the socket before removing the beans container!
- To remove the bean container, turn it counterclockwise until the “lock” symbol and the arrow marking are aligned. Now remove the beans container upwards.
- NOTE: The bean container is equipped with a locking mechanism that prevents beans from falling out of the bottom opening.

The setting of the grinding degree
- Different coffee beverages require a different grind. The type and roasting of the beans and your personal taste also determine how finely the coffee powder should be ground. Take our recommendations (see below) as a basis and try for yourself until you have found your individually suitable grind using the very variable setting options.
- By turning the built-in beans container to the right or left, the degree of grinding can be adjusted individually. If necessary, hold the unit with your free hand so that it does not slip.
- Setting “1” means very fine powder, and setting “35” means very coarse ground powder.
- The set value is shown by the small arrow marking on the bean container and the printed scale on the base unit.
The setting of the powder portion
- The strength of the coffee is influenced not only by the grind but also by the amount of powder used. For a smoother coffee, the powder portion is reduced, for a stronger coffee, the powder portion is increased.
- The amount of coffee powder dispensed depends on the type of bean, the roast and the set grinding degree. Therefore, the actual amount of powder required can deviate from the preset portion sizes. To best cover these deviations and personal preferences, the appliance offers two modes and a very finely graduated portion setting.
- This coffee grinder can grind 1 – 12 servings of coffee powder.
- The electronic fine adjustment allows the portion quantity of the ground powder to be precisely adjusted to individual needs.
- In addition, it is possible to select between the operating mode “Powder for coffee preparation” and “Powder for espresso preparation”.
Display at the control panel

- In the operating mode “powder for coffee preparation” (“1.0” to “12”), the setting “12” is followed by the minimum setting “1.0” of the operating mode “powder for espresso preparation” – and vice versa.
- By briefly touching the ON/START/STOP sensor key, you start the grinding process.
- The selected setting is shown in the display field.
- The backlighting of the ON/START/STOP sensor key is active.
- After processing the set portion size, the appliance stops automatically and switches to the operation mode.
- The display field shows the last setting selected.
- The backlighting of all sensor keys is active.
- NOTE: If no further operation of a sensor button is carried out within 2 minutes, the appliance automatically switches to standby mode. By tapping the ON/START/STOP sensor button, the appliance can be switched back to the operation mode.
Stop the grinding process prematurely
