Instructions for Welding Helmet

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the User Instructions carefully before use.
Save these instructions for future reference.

The welding helmet is not suitable for laser welding.

Do not place the welding helmet or its automatic darkening lens shade on hot surfaces.

Never attempt to open or modify the lens shade.

The welding helmet does not protect the wearer from knocks or blows, from for example fragments of burst grinding or cutting discs. Never use the welding helmet when grinding.

The welding helmet does not protect the user from danger caused by explosions or corrosive substances. Do not modify the lens shade or helmet other than as specified in these instructions.
Do not use spare parts other than those specified in these instructions. Unauthorised modification, or the use of spare parts not recommended by the manufacturer, will both invalidate the warranty and increase the risk of personal injury. -
If the lens shade does not go dark automatically when you light the arc, stop the welding immediately and contact your foreman or your dealer.

Do not immerse the lens shade in water.

Do not use solvents to clean the helmet or lens shade.

Avoid getting water or impurities on the lens shade.

Clean the surfaces on the lens shade regularly, but do not use strong detergents. Clean sensors and solar cells with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Replace the cover lens if it gets scratched, cracked or otherwise damaged. Failure to respect the above warnings, or to follow the instructions for correct use, can lead to serious personal injury.

OPERATION
- Press the switch gently to activate the automatic lens shade.
- Adjust the correct density for the actual type of welding with the knob.
- Put the helmet on. In this mode the lens shade is bright and the workpiece can be clearly seen.
- Start welding. The lens shade immediately goes dark to the set density. If the lens shade does not go dark, stop the welding immediately and troubleshoot the helmet. Do not attempt to weld again until the fault has been rectified.
- The power supply to the lens shade switches off automatically at the end of the session.
IMPORTANT: Remove the batteries if the welding helmet is not going to be used for some time. When the helmet is not in use and/or is in storage, it should be placed with the shade sensor facing down. This saves the batteries.
Sensitivity
The sensitivity can be adjusted to the different light conditions caused by
different welding methods.
Medium sensitivity, about 30 to 50%, is suitable for most situations.
Adjusting the sensitivity
The sensitivity of the helmet may need adjusting if the light conditions
change, or if the shade alternates between bright and dark mode without
apparent reason. Adjust the sensitivity according to the instructions below.
- Turn the adjusting knob to the lowest sensitivity.
- Point the helmet in the required direction for the work, so that it is exposed to the light from that direction.
- Slowly turn the adjusting knob towards higher sensitivity, until the filter switches to dark mode. Now turn the knob back just past the point where the shade goes bright. The helmet is now ready for use. Small adjustments may, however, be necessary during the course of the work.
Replacing the cover lens
Replace the cover lens if it gets scratched, cracked or otherwise damaged.
- Lift the cover lens with one finger from underneath and pull out to the side.
- Carefully bend the new cover lens and insert the first edge and then the second in the slots in lens holder.
- Carefully press the cover lens so that it fits properly in the holder.
MAINTENANCE
- Only use spare parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
- The user must not dismantle the automatic lens shade from the welding helmet. The lens shade must only be dismantled by the dealer or an authorised service centre, otherwise this will invalidate the warranty.
- Replace the cover lens if it gets scratched, cracked or otherwise damaged.
- Clean the shade surfaces with a clean, lint-free cloth.
- Never immerse the lens shade in water or any other liquid. Never use abrasive detergents or detergents that contain oil or solvent.
- Never try to open the lens shade.
Storage
- The welding helmet and its automatic lens shade should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated place. Do not expose the equipment to direct sunlight.
- Do not expose the helmet to knocks or blows, and avoid scratching or making marks on it.
- Do not get the lens shade dirty.
TROUBLESHOOTING
- If the shade reacts slowly and its density reduces, this means the batteries are discharged. Replace the batteries.
- If the shade does not go bright the power supply is switched off, or the batteries are discharged. Switch on the power switch. If this does not help, replace the batteries.
- If the cover lens has become worn and too opaque, replace it.
