DAILY USE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIFESTRAW PEAK SERIES COLLAPSIBLE SQUEEZE WATER FILTER SYSTEMS
Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze Water Filter Systems
DAILY USE
Follow these steps for using your Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze Water Filter
System.
- Assemble. Attach the membrane microfilter to the reservoir by first unscrewing the neck cap on the squeeze bag. Screw the membrane microfilter firmly into the inside of the top cap, so that when the cap is retightened onto the squeeze bottle, the filter sits inside the reservoir.
- Fill. When ready to use, open the squeeze bag to fill with water by unscrewing the neck cap. Fill with water, and retighten the cap to close.
- Sip or squeeze. Open the top cap. To sip, take 5 quick, strong pulls of water using the mouthpiece to get water flowing. To squeeze water out of the reservoir, simply apply pressure to the reservoir. Close the top cap when finished.
- Backwash. Regularly backwash your filter after drinking to keep the filter clean and to prevent clogging. To do this, disconnect the membrane microfilter from the top cap by twisting counterclockwise. Then, screw the included backwash syringe onto the membrane microfilter. Plunge the open end of the filter into drinking water, and draw water up through the filter by pulling the syringe upward and away from the filter until it reaches the edge of the housing. Then push water back through the filter by pressing the syringe downward toward the filter until the water has fully been pushed through.
REGULAR CLEANING AND STORAGE
Follow these steps if you have already used your LifeStraw Peak Series squeeze bottle and you plan to store for less than 1 month before your next adventure! If you haven’t already, make sure to backwash your filter to keep the filter clean and to prevent clogging.
RINSE
We recommend rinsing the inside top cap, mouthpiece, and bottle before
putting away for storage.
DISINFECTION
For optimal disinfection (we always recommend when storing for greater than 3
months), follow the instructions below:
Mix 1/4 teaspoon household bleach solution with 1-2 cups of water. Dip the
filter into the bleach solution far enough so that the end is submerged in
solution, and use the backwash accessory to push and pull the solution from
the filter several times. Rinse with tap water. For your squeeze bottles we
recommend cleaning all mouthpieces, caps, and parts for optimal disinfection.
STORAGE
If storing your product for less than 1 month, place your cleaned filter and
system in a cool, dry place until next use. For long term storage, we
recommend storing the filter with a saline solution because it helps prevent
any mold or algae from growing while also keeping the membrane microfilter wet
which ensures good flow rate when resuming use. When the membrane becomes
dried out, it can be difficult to get the product flowing again. Check out
these instructions on our Support Center.
