HOW TO USE

  1. Prepare for use, by first filling any 28mm threaded PCO standard bottle or pouch with water.
  2. Remove the bottom cap, and thread tightly on the bottle.
  3. Open the top cap to expose the mouthpiece / water outlet
  4. Filter   water by squeezing the bottle to apply pressure into another container, or by using the mouthpiece to drink directly from the fiter. Close the top cap when finished.
  5. Backwash. We recommend regularly backwashing your filter after each day of use to keep the filter clean and to prevent clogging. To do this, unscrew the mouthpiece completely, and thread on the included backwash syringe. Then, remove the bottom plug cap. Plunge the exposed bottom side of the membrane microfilter into drinking water and draw water up through the filter by pulling the syringe upward until the syringe is full. Then, push water back through the filter by pressing the syringe downward until water has been fully pushed through the other side. Repeat several times. When finished, remove the syringe, and replace the top cap and mouthpice assembly by screwing back onto the device, and attach the bottom plug cap.

If storing your Life Straw Solo Water Micro filter for greater than 1 month without use, we recommend following our long term storage instructions to preserve the longevity of the filter and to prevent clogging.

MONTHLY CLEANING

Add 1/4 tsp of household bleach to 2 Cups of water. Use the syringe to pull/push the chlorine/bleach solution through the Peak Solo (see backwash procedure) 5 times. After that, pull chlorine water 1 more time, close the bottom plug and then disco- nect the syringe, close the mouthpiece and top cap. Let the unit rest for at least 4 hours or overnight. After resting, repeat the backwash procedure 5 times with clean water to wash out chlorine. Peak Solo is ready to use.

LONG-TERM STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Avoid drying out the filter by using these long-term storage instructions. This will keep th filter at its highest performance and maintain the hydrophilic properties of the membrane, while also preventing any mold or algae from growing during long-term storage. When the membrane becomes completely dried out, it can be difficult to get water to flow through again. Follow these steps if you have already used the Life Straw Peak Solo filter and you plan to store for greater than 1 month without use.

A-Clean with bleach solution

  1. Backwash membrane micro filter according to backwashing instructions prior to storing.

  2. Add 1/4 tsp of household bleach to 2 Cups of
    water.

  3. Use the syringe to pull and push the diluted bleach solution through the membrane micro filter 5 times. Pull the diluted bleach solution one more time, and let the filter with syringe lay on a flat surface for 5 mines. After resting, repeat the backwash procedure 5 times with clean water to wash out chlorine.

B- Immerse in salt solution

  1. Avoid drying out the membrane micro filter by storing in a salt solution made by mixing 1 teaspoon of salt with 2 cups of water.
  2. Unscrew and remove the top cap and bottom plug. cap. Connect the the syringe, immerse the bottom of the filter in the salt solution, and pull salt solution into the filter. Then, disconnect the syringe, and place the micro filter inside of a sealed reusable container filled with the saline solution mixture so filter remains wet. Store the 2 caps separately.
  3. Storeinacool dry place.
  4. 7To resume use, open your reusable container and discard the excess saline solution. Then, execute the backwashing procedure with drinking water to help
