BEHA HC 5 Classic Black Installation Guide

Please read the manual carefully before use of the heater and save it for later reference. This user guide is also available at beha.no.

Technical information

Factory set temperature is 22 °C. The thermostat can be set at min. 1 °C in ECO mode. Maximum temperature is 35 °C.

The heater is IP24 tested and approved for installation in bathrooms and utility rooms, and can be installed according to current regulations. The heater has week timer that can be used for saving energy.

By power outage
The heater returns to your set comfort temperature. For other modes/settings .

Open window detection
If the open window function is activated and the temperature drops several degrees, within several minutes, the heater will activate this function and stop heating. After 1 hour the heater return to the mode/settings it had before the open window was activated. It can also be deactivated with pressing the open window button.

Safety information

When using any electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire and injuries.

Please read the entire user manual before using heater.

  1. Before use, remove all packaging.
  2. Turn the switch to OFF. Remove the plug from the wall socket when the heater is not in use and when cleaning.

This heater is for room heating.

CAUTION! Parts of this product will become hot and may cause burns. Pay especially attention where children and vulnerable people are present.
Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate, and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

Warning: In order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised. Furthermore, do not use the heater in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.The heater shall not be used in explosives areas.

Warning : Do not use this heater in small rooms when they are occupied by persons not capable of leaving the room on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.

The wall socket in which the heater is connected should be visible and accessible.

The heater must not be located immediately below a wall socket. Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug. The cable must not come into contact with hot surfaces of the heater during operation.

Do not cover the cord with carpets. Do not step on the cable.
Ensure that no foreign objects are placed in the heater’s air outlets as it can cause electrical failure or fire.

When cleaning or relocating or when the heater is not in use, the heater should be switched off and the cord unplugged. In that order. Do not remove the plug from the socket by pulling the cord. Remove the cord from the socket by gripping the plug and gently pull it out of the wall socket.
Do not touch the heater with wet hands. The heater must be in an upright position. The heater should not be repaired, dismantled or modified by unauthorized personnel. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Do not use this heater in the immediate surroundings of a bath, a shower, or a swimming pool. Fixed heaters are to be installed so that switches and other controls cannot be touched by a person in the bath or shower.
Do not use this heater if it has been dropped or if there are visible signs of damage to the heater.

Warning : The heater should be located away from furniture, curtains or other flammable objects.

Warning : In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cutout, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.

Installation

Make sure that the distance from walls and objects is respected.

Electrical connection and use
Before connecting, please ensure that the voltage is 230-240V ~ 50-60 Hz. The heater should be connected to a socket in the room it is intended to be used. Do not connect the heater to sockets in adjacent rooms using an extension cable.

Mounting the heater
A. Put the hanging rack on the wall as a guide ruler (please make sure the holes are parallel), use a pen to mark the hole position
B. Drill holes on the wall with 8mm drill bit and insert the plastic wall plug.
C. Fasten the hanging rack on the wall with the screws, do make sure the hanging rack is in correct direction
D. Gently insert the heater body of the bottom to the hanging rack first and then push the heater body to be hooked on the whole hanging rack.

Warning! The distance from the floor to the lower edge of the heater should be min. 15cm.
Warning! When drilling holes, always ensure there is no wiring, pipework, etc. in the area to be drilled.
Warning! Before plugging in the unit make sure the radiator is properly attached to the wall.

How to use the heater
Plug the appliance to AC 230-240V 50-60Hz socket and press down the on/off switch with a beep sound. The indicator light is on.

Factory default
— Heating mode: comfort mode
— Target temperature setting: 22 °C
— Date: 1 (Monday); Time: 00:00 (Off)
— Window open function: Off
— Timer: Off

If default settings are different, it will simply be because the unit has been quality tested after production.

To stop the heater working, press to turn off the heater. Unplug the product when it’s not in use.

Clock and day of week setting

Press down 3 secs to enter clock and day of week setting. The screen now display “d”, press and to select the day from 1-7.

  1. Monday
  2. Tuesday
  3. Wednesday
  4. Thursday
  5. Friday
  6. Saturday
  7. Sunday

— Press to confirm day setting and enter the clock hour setting, with the screen display:
— Press and to set the current hour.
— Press to confirm hour setting and enter the minute setting, with the screen display:
— Press and set the current minute.
— Press to confirm all settings.

Note: The clock and calendar will be reset to factory default if without power supply.

Heating mode
Press M to enter mode selection.
By pressing M heating mode runs in a continuous cycle as below:

Comfort mode : Press and to set the temperature from 5-35 °C.

ECO mode : Press and to set the temperature from 1-31 °C.

Anti-frost mode : The screen display. The target temperature 7 °C. The temperature can’t be adjusted.

P1/P2/P3 : Pre-set heating program.
Note: If the clock and day setting are not finished, the first time to enter P1/P2/P3 program setting, it is requested to set day and clock setting in advance.

Note: P3 are adjustable program setting.

  1. When under P3 mode, press M over 3 secs to enter day setting.
  2. The screen displays , press and to set from (Monday-Sunday). Press to confirm and enter hour setting.
  3. The screen displays , press  and to set from 00-23. Press M to choose heating mode for every hour (Comfort mode ****or ECO mode or anti-frost mode . The indicator light will not be on.)
  4. Repeat the operation until you have completed the schedule of every hour and every day.

Note: After setting heating mode for hour 23, press to come back to day setting. Note: when screen displays , press finish all setting with display of .

Timer off function
Press one time, the screen display “0H” and keeps flashing. Press and to set timer from 0-24 hours. Press again to confirm setting, then the indicator light is on. The heater will turn off after the set amount of time has passed.

Open window function
Press one time and the indicator light is on. If open window function is activated, the indicator light keeps flashing and stops heating.
Press again to quit open window function and back to previous working situation.

By power outage with different heating mode
After a power cut the heater will be in standby (off). When turning the switch on, the heater will use the comfort temperature set by you.

Program P1, P2, P3:
Your schedule (P3) and time (P1, P2, P3) need to be set again. The comfort temperature will be the same.

Comfort temperature : Does not changes.

ECO temperature : Change to comfort mode and the temperature are 4 degrees higher than that in ECO mode.

Anti frost temperature used : The heater will start at comfort temperature.

Open Window active: The heater returns to comfort temperature set by you.

Care and maintenance

Easy cleaning

  1. Turn the switch off and remove the power connection. Make sure the heater is cooled down before cleaning.
  2. Clean the outside with a soft, moist cloth, with or without a mild soap solution.
  3. Never use abrasive cleaners or submerse the heater in water or other liquids. Do not allow water or other liquids to get into the heater, as this could create a fire and/or electrical hazard.
  4. We also recommend the periodic cleaning of this heater by lightly running a vacuum cleaner nozzle over the guards to remove any dust or dirt that may have accumulated outside the heater.

CAUTION : Do not use harsh detergents, chemical cleaners, or solvents as they may damage the surface finish of the plastic components.

Energy efficiency

This product complies with the EU regulations of the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC) for energy-related products.

Technical parameter
F2 and F3 are correction factors that represent a positive contribution to the seasonal energy efficiency for space heating. Seasonal space heating energy efficiency for electric wall-mounted heaters, with a nominal heating output above 250W, shall not be less than 38%.

Waste management

This appliance is marked in accordance with EU Directive 2012/19/EU regarding the handling of electrical and electronic waste (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment-WEEE). Make sure that this product is disposed in the correct manner, so that it does not constitute a health or environmental risk.

The symbol on the product or on the documents accompanying the product, indicates that this product may not be treated as household waste. Hand it over to an authorized reception for recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Disposal must take place in accordance with the local waste disposal regulatons. For further information, treatment, recovery, and recycling of this product, contact your local council, waste disposal service or the shop where you purchased it.
