  1. Jack up your car to access the rear wheel and bumper bolt.
  2. Clean the bumper inner lip thoroughly with alcohol or a degreaser agent for good adhesion of the double-sided tape.
  3. Install the rear rock guard by following the specified steps based on your vehicle’s chassis year.
  4. Position the rock guard and mark the spot for alignment with the bumper.
  5. Attach the spring u-nut and double-sided tape for secure mounting of the rock guard.

Tips before the installation

The rear rock guards require a hole to be drilled in the bumper lip for optimal rigidity.

  • If you prefer not to drill the bumper, you can use the supplied double-sided tape instead. Make sure to properly clean and prepare the surface.

  • The 3M VHB tape requires sitting for 24 hours for optimal bonding.

  • A. Jack you car up so you can remove the rear wheel and gain access to the bumper bolt.

  • B. Using alcohol or a good degreaser agent, thoroughly clean the bumper inner lip with a clean cloth. This step is crucial for good adhesion of the 3M VHB tape.

  • A. Grab the rear rock guard (FX3D logo should be facing the rear of the car).

  • B. Put the factory screw through the hole that corresponds to the chassis of your vehicule.

    • AP1 for 2000-03 = Upper hole
    • AP2 for 2004-09 = Lower hole
  • C. Screw it back on the bumper but don’t tighten it all the way to allow for later adjustment. The guard should be able to move freely.

  • A. Position the rock guard roughly into position and mark the spot where the lower hole aligns with the bumper.

  • B. Grab one of the supplied spring u-nuts(D) and slightly pry it open to facilitate the installation and avoid scratching the paint.
Slide the u-nut on the bumper inner lip (flat side towards the front) making sure it lines up with the lower hole of the rock guard.

  • C. Grab one strip of the supplied 3M VHB double-sided tape(E). Cut the tape and place a strip above the U-nut and one under it. Heating the bumper with a heat gun before installing the tape will improve adhesion.

  • D. Make sure that the side of the rock guard that will be in contact with the double-sided tape is also clean. You can use the same degreasing agent used for the bumper.

  • A. Double-check the alignment of the u-nut hole. Slightly move the rock guard from left to right and decide on its final positioning.

  • B. Remove the tape’s red backing. Make sure not to touch the tape with the rock guard until you are certain about the final position.

  • C. Grab one of the supplied self-tapping screws (C) and place it in the lower hole making sure it’s aligned with the u-nut. Use a drill or screwdriver to tap it into place. Don’t over-tighten.

  • D. Apply some pressure against the rock guard to make sure the tape adheres properly to both the bumper and flap.

  • E. Fully tighten the top screw.
