SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Always check the product before use.
  • The product must only be operated and loads lifted or lowered when the user has full supervision of the product and the work area.
  • Check that all welded joints are free from cracks and that all bolted joints are correctly tightened.
  • Check that the level of the hydraulic fluid is correct and that there is no leakage.
  • Only use the product on a level, hard surface and ensure that it is free to roll during lifting and lowering.
  • Lower the load to the lowest possible position before moving the product.
  • Be very careful when moving the product with a lifted load. Make sure that the load cannot start to swing out of control.
  • Never work under a load hanging only from the product. Make sure that an uplifted engine is correctly mounted on a suitable stand or on all the brackets in the vehicle.
  • Do not overload the product. Always observe the permitted maximum load in each given arm position.
  • Lower the load slowly and carefully.
  • Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can lead to the risk of serious personal injury and/or material damage. It will also invalidate the warranty.

ASSEMBLY

Two persons are required for assembly.

  • Study the supplied assembly details before assembly. Dimensions and number are specified in the list of assembly parts. Check that all the parts and assembly parts are included.
  • Assemble the product from the lowest parts and up.
  • Assemble the product on a level surface, otherwise the assembled product can be skew and result in a risk of personal injury and/or material damage.

NOTE:   The hydraulic system must be bled after assembly to remove the penetration of any air during transport.

  1. Open the bleed valve by turning it anticlockwise with the piston upright (as it is installed in the product).
  2. Hold the end of the hydraulic piston and pump several times with the pump handle until the resistance no longer feels “spongy”.

STEP-BY-STEP

  1. Fit the swivel wheels (18) on the base (14) with the screws (19), washers (20), spring washers (6) and nuts (7). Do not fully tighten the nuts.MEEC-TOOLS-013933-Workshop-Crane-fig2
  2. Move the swivel wheels (18), mounted on the base (14), along the long holes.
  3. Move the swivel wheels so that the holes in the wheels are in line with the holes in the base and screw the swivel wheels (18) on the base with the screws (19), washers (20), spring washers (6) and nuts (7). Tighten all four nuts.
  4. Fit the fixed wheels (5) and the bushings (4) on the base (14) with the screws (3), washers (20), spring washers (6) and nuts (7). Tighten all the nuts.
  5. Fit the fixed wheels (1) and the bushings (4) on the base (2) with the screws (3), washers (20), spring washers (6) and nuts (7). Tighten all the nuts.
  6. Put the support feet (2) in the base (14) from the front and align the hole in the end of the slot in the base to the hole in the end of each support foot.MEEC-TOOLS-013933-Workshop-Crane-fig3
  7. Fit the coupling plates (16), the base (14) and support feet (2) with the screws (15) and (17), spring washers (6), washers (10), spring washers (9) and nuts (8). Check that all the nuts are tightened. Lift one side of the base to align the hole in the frame to the hole in the support foot (2), put the lock pin (12) in the hole and the cotter (13) in the hole in the lock pin.
  8. Fasten the handle (31) on the column (26) with 2 screws (17) and spring washers (6).MEEC-TOOLS-013933-Workshop-Crane-fig4
  9. Fit the lower end of the column (26) on the base (14) with the screws (11), washers (10), spring washers (9) and nuts (8). Do not tighten the nuts before completing the next step.
  10. Screw tight the bottom ends of the stays (25) on the inside of the base (14) with 2 screws (15), washers (10), spring washers (9) and nuts (8). Screw the top ends of the stays on the column (26) with 1 screw (11), washer (10), spring washers (9) and nut (8). Check that the nuts are correctly tightened and tighten the nuts from step 9.
  11. Fit the arm (33) on the top of the column (26) with a screw (27), washer (22) and nut (29). Adjust the nuts (29) so that the arm can swing free.MEEC-TOOLS-013933-Workshop-Crane-fig5
  12.  Screw the bottom end of the cylinder unit (24) on the column (26) with a screw (21), washer (22), spring washers (28) and nut (23). Screw the top end of the cylinder unit on the arm (33) with a screw (34), washer (22), spring washers (28) and nut (23).
  13. Put the retractable arm (36) in the arm (33) and put the lock pin (35) in the hole for the required capacity and the cotter (13) in the hole in the lock pin. Fit the chain and hook (37) on the end of the retractable arm with a screw (11), washer (10), spring washers (9) and nut (8). The arm has 4 holes for different load capacities. Select the required load capacity before use.MEEC-TOOLS-013933-Workshop-Crane-fig6
  14. Fit all the plastic end pieces (32), (38), (39).

HOW TO USE

IMPORTANT: Stop pumping when the piston has been run out to the red stop mark, otherwise the product might not work properly.

  • Check before each lift that all the screw unions are properly tightened.
  • Never exceed the maximum permitted load according to the markings on the arm. The permitted load is given on a safety sticker on the arm as follows: 250 kg, 500 kg, 750 kg and 1,000 kg.
  • Never use the product on an uneven surface or where there are ridges or expansion joints in the floor-this can cause the swivel wheels to turn, which can result in a risk of serious personal injury. For this reason the swivel wheels are not covered by the warranty. When moving with a load the load should hang as low as possible. Make sure that the load does not swing. Always lower the load carefully. Do not let it drop.
  • Check the hydraulic cylinder and piston at regular intervals for leakage and/or corrosion. Keep them clean and well lubricated.
  • Small amounts of hydraulic fluid can be forced out at the base of the piston or at the top seal. This is perfectly normal.
  • When the product is not in use it should be stored with the arm and hydraulic cylinder in the lowest position, the support feet folded and the lock pins correctly inserted to minimise storage space.
  • Only use hydraulic fluid of the type recommended by the manufacturer (grade IS068) when refilling or changing the hydraulic fluid. Never mix different fluids and never use brake fluid, transmission fluid, or engine oil. Be careful when refilling hydraulic fluid, so that no impurities or foreign objects come in the hydraulic system -risk of material damage.
  • Only use fresh, pure hydraulic fluid.
  • Never allow any part of your body to come under a load when it is lifted up.
  • Follow these instructions for best functionality and life span. Do not use the product for any other purpose than the one it is intended to be used for.

MAINTENANCE

BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AND REFILLING HYDRAULIC FLUID

  1. Lowering valve
  2. Piston
  3. Refill cap for hydraulic fluid
  4. Mount for pump handle FIG. 16
  5. Open the lowering valve (1) by turning the handle anticlockwise.
  6. Press down the piston (2) to its bottom position.
  7. Remove the filler cap (3).
  8. Check that the level of hydraulic fluid is just below the edge of the refill hole. Top up the hydraulic fluid, if necessary. Only use hydraulic fluid of the recommended type (see technical data).
  9. Put the handle in the mount and pump up and down 10 full strokes.
  10. Check the level of the hydraulic fluid again, and top up if necessary. Only use hydraulic fluid of the recommended type (see technical data).
  11. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until the level of hydraulic fluid is just below the edge of the refill hole. Replace the filler cap.
  12. Close the lowering valve by turning the handle clockwise all the way.
  13. Lift and lower the arm slowly several times without load.
  14. Do not use the product if the arm does not lift and lower smoothly. Have the product inspected by a qualified technician.
