IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using the product, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Heed all warnings, including the below warnings AND those included on the product.

  • HALO™ recessed luminaires (fixtures) are designed to meet the latest NEC requirements and are certified in full compliance with UL. Before attempting installation of any recessed lighting luminaire checks your local electrical code. This code sets the wiring standards for your locality and should be carefully studied before starting.

  • Read and follow these instructions.

  • Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during kit installation.

  • To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.

  • Connect the fixture to a 120 volt, 60 Hz power source. Any other connection voids the warranty.

  • The fixture should be installed by persons with experience in household wiring or by a qualified electrician. The electrical system, and the method of electrically connecting
    the fixture to it, must be in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local building codes.

  • WARNING – Risk of fire or electric shock. Install this kit only in luminaires that have the construction features and dimensions shown in the photographs and/or drawings and where the input rating of the retrofit kit does not exceed the input rating of the luminaire.

Shock – LED Retrofit Kit
installation requires knowledge of luminaire electrical systems. If not qualified, do not attempt installation. Contact a qualified electrician. Luminaire wiring and electrical parts may be damaged when drilling for the installation of an LED retrofit kit. Check for enclosed wiring and components.

  • The LED connector is compatible with Halo 5″ H550 Series and 6″ H750 and H2750 Series LED Housings
  • LED connector meets California Title-24 high-efficacy luminaire standard as a non-screw base socket.
  • The LED connector is a non-screw-base luminaire disconnect for tool-less installation.

Cooper Lighting Solutions warrants to customers that, for a period of FIVE years from the date of purchase, Cooper Lighting Solutions products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship. The obligation of Cooper Lighting Solutions under this warranty is expressly limited to the provision of replacement products. This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser of the product. A purchaser’s receipt or other proof of date of original purchase is acceptable to Cooper Lighting Solutions. This is required before warranty performance shall be rendered.
This warranty does not apply to Cooper Lighting Solutions products that have been altered or repaired or that have been subjected to neglect, abuse, misuse, or accident (including shipping damages). This warranty does not apply to products not manufactured by Cooper Lighting Solutions which have been supplied, installed, and/or used in conjunction with Cooper Lighting Solutions products. Damage to the product caused by replacement bulbs or corrosion or discoloration of brass components is not covered by this warranty.

All returned products must be accompanied by a Return Goods Authorization Number issued by the Company and must be returned freight prepaid. Any product received without a Return Goods Authorization Number from the Company will be refused.
Cooper Lighting Solutions is not responsible for merchandise damaged in transit. Repaired or replaced products shall be subject to the terms of this warranty and are inspected when packed. Evident or concealed damage that is made in transit should be reported at once to the carrier making the delivery and a claim filed with them. Do not use with any other manufacturer’s dimmers.

NON-SCREWBASED LED LUMINAIRES

Before proceeding, confirm your recessed housing is compatible with RL56 LED Retrofit Modules. A list of the most common housing is provided below. Along with those noted below the RL56 LED Retrofit Modules are UL Certified for use with any 5″ or 6″ diameter recessed housing constructed of steel or aluminum with an internal volume that exceeds 108 in.3 and does not exceed the input rating of the housing.

INSTALLATIONS INSTRUCTIONS 8 MOUNTING

  1. For ground connection, attach the preinstalled green ground wire on the light to the housing, using 1 of 3 connection methods:
    i. Use sheet metal screw (B) to attach to 1 of 3 slots inside the housing.
    ii. Drive pan head screw (C) into the existing hole inside the housing.
    Note: If no hole exists, drill a small [1/8″] pilot hole and use the provided

    8 sheet metal screw (B),

    iii. Twist nut (D) onto the threaded stud in the housing wall.

  2. Screw the Socket Adapter (B) into the housing. Skip this step if the housing is already equipped with an orange quick connector

  3. Plug the orange quick connect into the light

  4. Skip this step if installing into 6″ housing. For 5″ housings: Loosen screws on top brackets and slide them into the 5″ position & retighten the screws.

  5. Press both pairs of torsion spring legs together and insert them into the receivers inside the housing.
    Note: For the easiest installation, insert both sides of the torsion springs simultaneously (versus one at a time).

  6. Using your smartphone/tablet, follow the online Quick Start Guide to pairing the Speaker Downlight to your HALO Home account. BringHaloHome.com

UNINSTALLING

Torsion Springs Removal

  1. Pull down firmly on the module until it stops.
  2. Reach between the flange of the light (inside the can) and squeeze the legs together to remove the fixture.
  3. Unplug the orange connector and remove the ground wire.

FACTORY RESET

ONLY DO THIS STEP IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE DEVICE USING THE APP.
If removal does not work, delete it in the app by clicking “my device is broken” and then follow the factory reset steps:
Using either a standard ON/OFF switch, circuit breaker, or the air gap switch on an Accessory Dimmer to cycle power -repeat this pattern 4 times.

  • Repeat this pattern 4 times:
    • Turn OFF for 2 second
    • Turn ON for 5 seconds

  • After a brief delay, the Speaker Downlight will:
    • flash twice and change to its default soft white (3000K) color temp to indicate a successful reset
    • the small LED indicator will stay ON for approximately 10-second
