Oatey 39177 Quiet Pipes Hammer Arrestor
INSTRUCTION GUIDE
The Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor is equipped with a 1/2″ Male Iron Pipe thread (MIP). You must first install a tee in the water line to accommodate the Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor. The Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor will thread into the 1/2″ Female Iron Pipe thread (FIP). A dielectric union is recommended when attaching to galvanized pipe or fittings. The Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor can be installed horizontally or vertically.
- Turn off the water supply to the waterline.
- Cutwater line and install a tee. If using copper or galvanized pipe, both ends of the tee must be soldered to the pipe. Be sure to use Oatey Lead-Free Solders for all potable water lines. If using CPVC pipe material, both ends of the tee must be solvent welded to the pipe. Oatey CPVC Solvent Cement is recommended.
- Apply Oatey Thread Sealant Tape to the male threads of the Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor and screw it into the FIP fitting.
- Turn the water on and check for leaks.
