INSTRUCTION GUIDE

The Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor is equipped with a 1/2″ Male Iron Pipe thread (MIP). You must first install a tee in the water line to accommodate the Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor. The Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor will thread into the 1/2″ Female Iron Pipe thread (FIP). A dielectric union is recommended when attaching to galvanized pipe or fittings. The Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor can be installed horizontally or vertically.

  1. Turn off the water supply to the waterline.
  2. Cutwater line and install a tee. If using copper or galvanized pipe, both ends of the tee must be soldered to the pipe. Be sure to use Oatey Lead-Free Solders for all potable water lines. If using CPVC pipe material, both ends of the tee must be solvent welded to the pipe. Oatey CPVC Solvent Cement is recommended.
  3. Apply Oatey Thread Sealant Tape to the male threads of the Quiet Pipes® Hammer Arrestor and screw it into the FIP fitting.
  4. Turn the water on and check for leaks.
