WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read these instructions carefully prior to starting up the unit!
The water system on which the operation of this product is based requires utmost care and maintenance, possibly also the use of chemicals, in order to prevent and keep the occurrence of micro-organisms and harmful bacteria, especially legionellae that are responsible for legionnaire’s disease, under control. Nonobservance of this information about correct maintenance and care can entail the spreading of harmful bacteria. Due to the fact that for decorative purposes, water nozzles distribute water in the air, water droplets containing harmful bacteria can enter your lungs and cause life-threatening diseases.
It is the responsibility of the owner of the water system and its attendant units to ensure their maintenance and care in compliance with the laws, directives and instructions laid down for this purpose. In order to avert harmful contamination, we urgently recommend the user to ensure cleaning and care of the water system and the water feature including the nozzle, and to take all necessary measures to maintain the technical units, such as pumps, tubing, connectors, underwater lighting, and nozzles to keep them in functional order in line with safety aspects. However, the maintenance and care obligation is not limited to the technical products supplied, but encompasses the entire system.
We also recommend the owner to keep records of the dates when maintenance and care was carried out, and to document all water tests made in conjunction with the water feature. The owner is solely responsible for guaranteeing the safety of the water feature. Use or maintenance of the units sold and the system are beyond GeoGlobal Partner’s influence. GeoGlobal Partners can only be held liable for manufacturing faults of TotalPond® units.

  • Always disconnect spillway from the power source before beginning any maintenance or work on the spillway.
  • Inspect cord for damage before installation and/or maintenance. Replace the entire spillway/transformer assembly if damage is found.

CAUTION

  • This spillway has been evaluated for use with fresh water only.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

The instructions will show a pond installation and a block wall. First complete Assembling the Lighted Spillway then proceed to Installation steps.

Assembling the Lighted Spillway
Step 1. For maximum water flow, it is recommended that the largest tubing size for your pump is used. If needed, cut the adapter as shown using a hacksaw; consult packaging for tubing size.

Step 2. There are two inlets on the spillway. First option is the preferred installation method, but option 2 may be used based on install.
Attach the adapter to the spillway first, then slip the hose clamp onto the tubing but do not tighten it. Connect tubing to the adapter.
NOTE: The spillway has two outlets to install the adapter. Place the cap and gasket on the outlet not being used.
NOTE: Tubing is NOT INCLUDED.

Step 3. Tighten the hose clamp using a flathead screwdriver.

For installation in a pond

Step 1. Select a level location to place the waterfall spillway. Begin by building a base with the desired waterfall height.

Step 2. Place the spillway onto the base.
NOTE: It is very important that the spillway is level, so be sure to check that the structure is level from front to back as well as left to right.
Step 3. Connect the other end of the tubing to the pump. Place the pump in the pond.
NOTE: Tubing and pump are not included.

Step 4. Continue building the rest of the structure. Carefully cover the waterfall spillway and tubing with natural material for a professional look.
NOTE: Design the structure to fit the tubing through the back without any kinks.

Step 5. Connect the spillway to the transformer by pushing the plug into the spillway socket and hand tighten the nut around the plug and socket to secure.

Step 6. Plug the transformer into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
NOTE: Also plug in the pump to the outlet

For installation in a block wall

Step 1. Select a level location to build the waterfall. Begin by placing a reservoir on the ground and building the stones around it.

It is very important that the stones are level, so be sure to check that the structure is level from front to back as well as left to right.
NOTE: Reservoir and stones are NOT INCLUDED!

Step 2. Two stones need to be cut in order to fit the pump power cord and the tubing through the back.
Step 3. To assist with keeping the wall from leaning, place a layer of roofing shingles along the back wall on this layer.

Step 4. When the wall has reached the desired height, place the spillway onto the wall. Then continue building the rest of the wall.

Step 5. Cut the stone that goes on the top of the spillway before building the next layer of stones. Or use a retaining wall block cap in place of the cut and add an inch of roofing shingles under the spillway.
NOTE: The thickness of the weir is approximately 1 inch. You can cut several pieces of stone to make this fit.

Step 6. Route the power cord of the pump through the hole in the resovior and then route the tubing through the same hole.

Connect the tubing to the pump and place the pump in the reservoir.
NOTE: Pump and tubing are NOT INCLUDED.

Step 7. Fill the tub with water.

Step 8. Connect the spillway to the transformer by pushing the plug into the spillway socket and hand tighten the nut around the plug and socket to secure.

Step 9. Plug the transformer into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
NOTE: Also plug in the pump to the outlet

MAINTENANCE

  • Clean the spillway regularly depending upon the environment in which it is operated.
  • Clean the spillway when it is visibly soiled or when a drop in performance is detected.
  • Before cleaning, always disconnect the transformer and pump from the power source.
  • Use a dryer brush to clean the inside of the spillway. We recommend using a 10 inch long brush, approximately 1 inch thick or any brush that will fit inside the front of the spillway opening.
  • See pump manual for cleaning the pump unit.

TROUBLESHOOTING

IF THE LIGHT FAILS TO ILLUMINATE:

  • Check that it is getting power by testing another appliance in the same power outlet.

IF THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SPILLWAY IS NOT SATISFACTORY

  • Check the spillway, tubing, and pump inlet for kinks or obstructions.
  • Refer to the pump’s manual for further troubleshooting.
