Press the Power/Setup button (19) for 3 seconds to turn the receiver on/off. The NCV indicator shall light up.

Wire mapping
This function is used to check if the wires within the cable are connected correctly.
To test а network cable, plug one end of the cable into the RJ45 CONT port (8) on the transmitter and the other end into the RJ45 CONT port (21) on the remote unit.
To test a common cable, plug the wire with alligator clips into the RJ45 CONT port (8) on the transmitter and clamp the alligator clips on the testing cable correspondingly.
Select CONT (Wire mapping) in the main menu and press the OK button (3).

Cable length measurement
This function is used to measure the length of a cable.

  1. Plug one end of the testing cable into Length/Flash port (10) on the transmitter and leave the other cable end disconnected. Use the wire with alligator clips if required.
  2. Select Length (Length) in the main menu and press the OK button (3).
  3. Choose the required unit of measurement (meter, yard, feet).
  4. Select Start (Start) and press the OK button (3).
    Possible outcome is shown below:

Cable tracing
This function is used to locate the target cable in a cable bundle.

  1. Plug the loose of the cable into the RJ45 SCAN port (7) on the transmitter. Use the wire with alligator clips, if required.
  2. Select SCAN (Cable tracing) in the main menu andpress the OK button (3).
  3. Choose the required mode (Digital mode, Analogue, or PoE mode) on the transmitter.
  4. Set the required mode on the receiver (Digital mode to match Digital and PoE modes on the transmitter; and Analog mode to match the Analoge mode on the transmitter).
  5. Place the receiver near the cable bundle and move the receiver along the cable to trace it. When the sensor is in the close proximity to the target cable, the receiver will emit a beeping sound. To detect the cable more accurately, lower the sensitivity. The closer the device is to the object, the louder the signal will be.

If the modes of the transmitter and of the receiver do not match, the receiver will not emit a sound, even if it touches the target cable.

PoE test
This function is mainly used to define the power consumption by a PoE powered device. It also helps to identify the pins that provide PoE, the PSE type (standard or non-standard), polarity, mode, and voltage.

1. Plug one end of the PoE cable into the PoE port (9) on the transmitter and the other end into a port of the PoE source equipment (such as a network switch, router, etc.).
2. Select PoE (PoE test) in the main menu and then press the OK button (3).
Possible outcome is shown below:levenhuk-NP40-Digital-Cable-Tracker-

If all 8 pins provide power, the voltage polarity is not displayed.

Port Flash function
This function is used to locate an exact port on a network switch or on a router to which the tested cable is connected.

  1. Plug the loose end of the network cable to the Length/Flash port (10) of the transmitter; the other cable end is connected to a PoE source equipment (such as a network switch, router, etc.).
  2. Select Flash (Port Flash function) and press the OK button (3).
  3. Select the required frequency for the indicators to flash.
The circle on the display and LEDs under the Length/Flash port (10) will flash with the same frequency as the LED of the target port, and different from the other LEDs.
The corresponding specification will be displayed on the screen: data exchange speed (10 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit/s, or 1000 Mbit/s); transmitting mode (full duplex or half duplex), and data protocol (Auto-Negotiation or Non-Auto-Negotiation).
