Ermenrich Wett MW40 Moisture Detector

The Ermenrich Wett MW40 Moisture Detector is a device used to measure moisture levels in wood. It features a moisture scale, wood density indication, and a current moisture value display. The device also has a HOLD function that allows users to hold the current measurement on the screen. The MW40 has a DENSITY button that is used to select the wood density grade and a MODE button that is used to select the measuring mode. Product Usage Instructions

  1. Carefully read the safety instructions and user manual before using the product.

  2. Turn on the device using the POWER button.

  3. Select the measuring mode using the MODE button. The device has four measuring modes: wall, masonry, softwood, and hardwood.

  4. If applicable, select the wood density grade using the DENSITY button. The MW40 has a table of wood absolute dry density for reference.

  5. Place the device up to the sample so that the sensor (12) touches it.

  6. The current moisture value will be displayed on the screen. Use the HOLD button (9) to hold the current measurement on the screen. The HOLD icon will be displayed.

  7. To set an alert for a certain moisture level, turn on the device and press the SET button (8). The digit that is to be set will blink. Use the SET button and DENSITY button (7)/(11) to
    adjust the value of the blinking digit. Press and hold the HOLD button (9) for 3 seconds to confirm the setting. To cancel the alert setting, press and hold the SET button (8) for 3
    seconds.

  8. When finished, turn off the device using the POWER button.

Getting started

  • Open the battery compartment cover and insert 3 AAA batteries. Close the cover.
  • Press (10) to turn the device on. Press (10) and hold it for 3 seconds to turn the device off.

Using
Turn the device on, select the measuring mode and the wood density grade, if applicable. Put the device up to the sample so that the sensor (12) touches it. The data will be displayed on the screen.
To hold the current measurement on the screen, press (9). The HOLD icon will be displayed.

Alert setting
Turn the device on and press (8). The digit that is to be set will be blinking. Press (8)/(9) and (7)/(11) to adjust the value of the blinking digit. Then, press (9) and hold it for 3 seconds to confirm the setting. To cancel the alert setting, press (8) and hold it for 3 seconds.

Mode setting
Turn the device on and press (11) to set the measuring mode.
The setting order: wall -> masonry -> softwood -> hardwood.

Wood density grade
Turn the device on and select the softwood mode. Press (7) to set the wood density grade. Density is classified into nine grades (see the “Grade” column in the table below). The M1–M9 icon will be displayed on the screen.

If the wood of the measured sample is not listed in the table above, use the following equation to calculate the absolute dry density. Density = (100 x weight / volume) / (100 + moisture content of the wood)

Care and maintenance

Battery safety instructions

Remove batteries from equipment that is not to be used for an extended period of time. Remove used batteries promptly. Never short-circuit batteries as this may lead to high
temperatures, leakage, or explosion. Never heat batteries in order to revive them. Do not disassemble batteries. Remember to switch off devices after use. Keep batteries out of the reach of children, to avoid risk of ingestion, suffocation, or poisoning. Utilize used batteries as prescribed by your country’s laws.
