Safety Information

Danger!

  • The instructions provided herein are only for general information. ALWAYS perform all repairs in full compliance with your vehicle’s service manual. Particularly, ALWAYS tighten parts to the torque ranges specified in the service manual. After any repair, test your brakes and vehicle in your workshop and at low speed before returning to normal use.
  • DO NOT allow children or those unfamiliar with this product and its compatible brakes to use it. Do not use while tired or while intoxicated with alcohol, drugs, or medication. Keep children and bystanders away during use.
  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when using this product. Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
  • ALWAYS wear personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable for your task. Always wear ANSI-approved eye protection. Other equipment such as hand protection and non-slip footwear will usually be needed as well. Dress properly for automotive servicing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts.
  • ALWAYS activate your vehicle’s parking brake before any engine work. If your vehicle requires one or both front wheels to be removed to provide access to the engine, use jacks and jack stands able to fully support the necessary weight.
  • ALWAYS disconnect and remove your vehicle’s battery before working on the brake system. Large metal tools can cause shorts and electric shock during accidental contact with either terminal.
  • Maintain this product. Check for misalignment, binding, wear, or other damage before use. If any damage is detected, repair or replace the problematic components before further use.

Operation

  1. Park your vehicle on level ground, activate its parking brake, and turn off the engine. Allow your vehicle to cool if it has become hot through recent use.
  2. Jack up the vehicle. For best results, secure a raised vehicle with one or more jack stands or other appropriate supporting equipment
  3. Locate the brake calliper on the wheel you will be working on.
  4. The brake pads are located inside the calliper. Use a brake calliper tool or a large C-clamp (not included) to compress the brake pads inside the calliper.
  5. This will create space for the brake pad spreader. Use retaining hooks (not included) to secure the calliper pistons in place.
  6. Insert the brake pad spreader between the brake pads and into the calliper.
  7. Turn the knob of the brake pad spreader to expand the brake pads and create more space in the calliper. Keep turning the handle until the brake pads are properly aligned and the calliper can move freely.
  8. Remove the brake pad spreader and compress the brake pads again with the brake calliper tool or C-clamp to ensure that they are properly seated.
  9. Repeat the process on the other brake pads in the calliper.
  10. Service your vehicle as needed. Check the brake pads for wear and replace them if necessary
