Assembly
- Measuring the thrust bolt (B, H, N, or T) and jaws (E, K, Q, or W) against the part that needs removing, choose the thrust bolt (B, H, N, or T), jaws (E, K, Q, or W), or connecting plates (D, J, P, or V).
- Pair the chosen components referring to the table below.
- Assemble the paired components.
- Place one jaw between one pair of connecting plates in the needed direction, aligning the holes.
- Each jaw has two holes, the upper of which allows a larger spread length.
- Secure the jaw by replacing and retightening a removed bolt and nut.
- Repeat steps a–b to install the other 2 jaw(s) onto the jaw bracket. If you have chosen to use a two-jaw puller, simply fix another chosen jaw to the jaw bracket.
Operation
-
Park your vehicle on level ground, activate its parking brake, and turn off the engine. Allow your vehicle to cool if it has become hot through recent use.
-
Chock your wheels or jack up the vehicle. For best results, secure it with one or more jack stands or other appropriate supporting equipment. Make sure the part you are working on is adequately supported and will not fall when it is removed.
-
Lubricate the thrust bolt and the auto part with your penetrating oil (not included).
-
Position the jaws around the outside or inside of the part to be pulled as needed, ensuring that they securely hold the part and that the forcing screw tip connects to the centre of the shaft.
-
Using an adjustable wrench or impact wrench, turn the bolt clockwise until the part loosens.
Note: To achieve this, especially for some gears and pulleys requiring more pressure, use an adjustable torque wrench or impact wrench (not included) whose socket matches the bolt’s drive. check the position of the jaws so they will remain firm, adjusting as needed. Do not use excessive force if also hammering the part loose. -
When the part is nearly off, stop turning the bolt but continue to hold or clamp the part firmly. Disconnect the part and the puller from your vehicle, taking care not to drop either.
Maintenance
- Clean the tool with a soft damp cloth using a mild detergent or solution after use. Do not rinse or use abrasive cleaners or caustic chemicals.
- For best results, lubricate the tool with high-quality anti-corrosive oil (not included) between uses.
- Check the parts of the tool periodically for any wear or damage. Repair or replace any problematic parts before further use.
- If the tool will not be used for an extended period, clean and lubricate it and store it in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and inaccessible to children.
