Failure to do so may result in brake failure, serious property damage, and severe personal injury.
  • Use this tool exclusively for removing pulleys, sprockets, or other similarly pressed-in parts on a vehicle. Using it for purposes other than stated herein could result in serious property damage or personal injuries.

Other equipment such as ear, head, and body protection may also be necessary depending on your work and other equipment.
  • Dress properly for automotive servicing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery and keep hair, clothing, gloves, hoses, and tools away from any moving parts during use.
  • ALWAYS know and understand the specific safety warnings and instructions for your vehicle before using this kit. Use the correct fluids, pressures, adapters, etc. for your vehicle. Make sure the parking brake is activated before beginning any work. Use with jack and jack stands able to fully support the necessary weight. Never touch any heated surface with exposed skin.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
  • DO NOT use excessive pressure with this product and do not force it or its attachments. Use penetrating oil when the CV axle binds too tight.
  • Maintain this product. Check for misalignment, binding, wear, or other damage before use. If any damage is detected, repair or replace the problematic components before further use. In a large shop, mark such tools “DO NOT USE” until they have been repaired. Only replace components with identical parts.

Tools Not Included but Needed

  • Penetrating Oil
  • Adjustable Wrench
  • Adjustable Torque Wrench or Impact Wrench with 14, 17, 19, 22mm Sockets

Assembly

  1. Measuring the thrust bolt (B, H, N, or T) and jaws (E, K, Q, or W) against the part that needs removing, choose the thrust bolt (B, H, N, or T), jaws (E, K, Q, or W), or connecting plates (D, J, P, or V).
  2. Pair the chosen components referring to the table below.OMT-V20231228-Gear-Puller-Set-fig- \(4\)
  3. Assemble the paired components.
    • Place one jaw between one pair of connecting plates in the needed direction, aligning the holes.
    • Each jaw has two holes, the upper of which allows a larger spread length.
  4. Secure the jaw by replacing and retightening a removed bolt and nut.
  5. Repeat steps a–b to install the other 2 jaw(s) onto the jaw bracket. If you have chosen to use a two-jaw puller, simply fix another chosen jaw to the jaw bracket.

Operation

  1. Park your vehicle on level ground, activate its parking brake, and turn off the engine. Allow your vehicle to cool if it has become hot through recent use.

  2. Chock your wheels or jack up the vehicle. For best results, secure it with one or more jack stands or other appropriate supporting equipment. Make sure the part you are working on is adequately supported and will not fall when it is removed.

  3. Lubricate the thrust bolt and the auto part with your penetrating oil (not included).

  4. Position the jaws around the outside or inside of the part to be pulled as needed, ensuring that they securely hold the part and that the forcing screw tip connects to the centre of the shaft.

  5. Using an adjustable wrench or impact wrench, turn the bolt clockwise until the part loosens.OMT-V20231228-Gear-Puller-Set-fig- \(7\)
Note: To achieve this, especially for some gears and pulleys requiring more pressure, use an adjustable torque wrench or impact wrench (not included) whose socket matches the bolt’s drive. check the position of the jaws so they will remain firm, adjusting as needed. Do not use excessive force if also hammering the part loose.OMT-V20231228-Gear-Puller-Set-fig-

  6. When the part is nearly off, stop turning the bolt but continue to hold or clamp the part firmly. Disconnect the part and the puller from your vehicle, taking care not to drop either.OMT-V20231228-Gear-Puller-Set-fig- \(9\)
