Safety Information
DANGER!
- The instructions provided herein are only for general information. ALWAYS perform all repairs in full compliance with your vehicle’s service manual. After any repair, test your engine and vehicle in your workshop and at low speed before returning to normal use. Failure to do so may result in serious property damage and severe personal injury.
- ONLY use this product for its intended purpose, centering vehicular clutch discs.
- DO NOT allow use by children, by persons whose mental or physical condition precludes safe use, or by persons unfamiliar with this product and its compatible vehicle systems. Do not use while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any medication that negatively affects your judgment or reflexes. Keep children and bystanders away during use.
- Keep your work site clean and well-lit. Cluttered and dark work areas invite accidents.
- For best results, keep the kit clean and dry. Remove any fluid, oil, or grease before and after work, particularly from the C-frame and fittings.
- ALWAYS use personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable to your task. Always wear ANSI and OSHA-approved eye, breathing, and hand protection while using this product. Normal use of this product typically produces microscopic particles known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Nonslip footwear is also highly recommended. Other equipment such as ear, head, and body protection may also be necessary depending on your work, work environment, and other equipment.
- Dress properly for automotive servicing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry and keep hair, clothing, gloves, hoses, and tools away from any moving parts during use.
- ALWAYS know and understand the specific safety warnings and instructions for your vehicle before using this kit. Use the correct fluids, pressures, adapters, etc. for your vehicle. Make sure the vehicle is fully supported and parked before beginning any work. Take care to never touch any heated surface with exposed skin.
- ALWAYS be mindful of the control arm, snap rings, and other components under tension as they are released. Be mindful of where components might fly or land at all points during use.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
- DO NOT use excessive pressure with this product and do not force it or its attachments.
- Maintain this product. Check for misalignment, binding, wear, or other damage before use. If any damage is detected, repair or replace the problematic components before further use. In a large shop, mark such tools “DO NOT USE” until they have been repaired. Only replace components with identical parts.
- ALWAYS tighten the fasteners you removed to their required torques as stated in your vehicle’s service manual.
- Automotive repair is an inherently dangerous activity. This manual and the separate vehicle service manual cannot cover all possible situations that may arise, and training, common sense, and care must be supplied by the operator.

Tools and Materials Needed but Not Included
- New Clutch Disc
- New Pressure Plate
- Access to the Vehicle’s Manual Transmission Torque Wrench
Assembly
Installing Spigot Adapters
- Select the correct expanding mandrel and adaptor for your vehicle.
- Turn the adapter to fix it onto the expanding mandrel.
Replacing the Rubber Washer
The mandrel should have arrived with the rubber washers installed. If not or
broken, follow the steps to replace or install it.
- Turn the adjusting bolt at the end of the spindle towards (counterclockwise) to shrink the mandrel to its minimum diameter.
- Remove the broken rubber washer (s) or fit the correct one onto the mandrel.
- When installing, pressing and holding the mandrel down will make the installation faster.
- Check that the washer (s) has fully slid into the groove(s) on the mandrel.
Operation
-
Ensure that the vehicle is safely raised and supported on jack stands. Remove any obstructions or components that might hinder access to the clutch assembly. If necessary, remove the transmission from the vehicle to access the clutch components, which is usually required for a full clutch replacement.
-
Take out the old clutch disc, pressure plate, and any associated components.
-
Inspect the flywheel’s surface for any signs of wear, scoring, or damage. It may need resurfacing or replacement if in poor condition.
-
Clean the flywheel and clutch components to ensure they are free from dirt, grease, and contaminants.
-
Choose the correct clutch spigot bearing adapter and spindle.
-
Insert the spindle with the adapter end first through the center hole of the clutch disc.
-
Slide your new clutch disc (not included) onto the transmission input shaft, ensuring it is oriented correctly. Many clutch discs have a “flywheel side” and a “pressure plate side.” The splined center of the clutch disc should engage with the transmission’s input shaft.
-
Keep feeding the spindle until it touches the pilot bearing or bushing in the engine’s crankshaft.
-
Right, turn the adjusting bolt at the end of the spindle to expand the mandrel so that it fits snugly, centering the clutch disc.
-
Carefully place your new pressure plate over the clutch disc, aligning it with the dowel pins or alignment marks on the flywheel, ensuring that the pressure plate’s bolt holes align correctly with those on the flywheel.
Warning! ALWAYS ensure that the pressure plate’s bolt holes align correctly with those on the flywheel. -
Wiggle the alignment tool to make sure it is fully engaged and seated in the pilot bushing and bearing.
-
Tighten the pressure plate bolts gradually and evenly in a crisscross or star pattern to ensure uniform pressure plate seating. Torque the pressure plate bolts to your vehicle’s specifications using a torque wrench Do remove the spindle yet.
-
Remove the centering spindle.
-
If the transmission was removed, reinstall it following the vehicle’s service manual or repair instructions.
-
Complete any remaining steps necessary to reinstall other vehicle components and finalize the clutch replacement.
Maintenance
Before Each Use
Inspect the general condition of the tool kit. Check for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, and any other condition that
may affect its safe operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the
problem corrected before further use.
After Use
wipe clean with a damp cloth, using a mild detergent or mild solvent.
Storage
Store in the carrying case in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and
inaccessible to children.
